Gary's Poser Unit Creation Thread and Workshop

It's just the color of the scarf or whatever he's wearing next to the magenta.

Yes. The flap or whatever it is around the neck of his sailor uniform is red civ color and doesn't show up very well in the preview against the magenta background. The reason for the red civ palette is that his uniform itself is very dark blue and would pick up some of the blue of a blue colored civ palette.

@ ShiroKobbure: He is indeed wearing a standard Japanese helmet of the 1940s. But that can be easily changed. The French helmet I have is a WWI version and looks a little bit different than the one pictured above. Here's a side by side comparison.

Very nice ! I like him !:goodjob:
Hmmmm .... is he at a smaller scale as your previous units ?

btw: Good to see you return:)
btw2: Have you cancelled the Guardhouse ?

Hi General 666, I just e-mailed the finished guardhouse unit to Eric A. I would like to make the unit a special release with HOF v3. Once Eric releases HOF v3 then the guardhouse will be available to everyone.

The latest Japanese Marine is just a shade smaller than other units and the same size as the IJA rifleman released last time.

@Ares: Yes. I'll be redoing just about all my previous units.

Gary... everything Looks Really Great and I do believe having the Gate Open as the Fidget would be a Nice touch :goodjob:
...as for the Red CIV Specific color, you could change the palette in Flicster to the Blue Civ Palette and use that for the Previews when Red is used.

Good to hear
waiting for good units! :goodjob:

With best regards

Gary:
Here is a screen shot of the border guards on the German-Polish
border. I am thinking that the guard house looks a bit odd being
so much taller than the other buildings and also appears to sitting
partly in the next tile. If you scaled it down a bit you would have
a forced persective effect so it would look like it was in the background
but still in the same tile. This may something radical, I don't know if
anyone has has used forced perspective in a civ unit.

Also there are 2 problem lines in the .ini file:
RUN=Run.flc
RUN=ParatrooperRunFoot1.wav
These both cause a load error because there is no run animation or sound.

I checked the fidget, victory and death animations and they looked OK.

Whoops. Forgot to remove the run from the INI file (it's the same INI I've been using with my other SMLE units). Simple fix, just delete those lines since it is an immobile unit.

I'll have to toy around with the guardhouse a bit.

For my next unit I'd like to do a German Kriegsmarine. This is a semi-fictional German Marine unit for WW II based roughly on existing uniforms. Had Germany utilized amphibious troops more maybe they would have looked like this.

Below are 4 samples. Which one do people like the most? Since Germany really didn't use marines for much of anything I think that sort of leaves things open to "what-if" designs. :)

Sorry Gary ! ... but I love all versions the same.:goodjob: All of them looking very German and very Marine. Even after a longer view ,all of them looks even historical to me.:) I can easily imagine them on a german ship.

Yeah, I always find higher-contrast easier on the eyes. BTW, I'm guessing the red suspenders are Civ-colored ... ?

Best,

Oz

Suspenders are indeed Civ colored. Since the unit utilizes blue in the unit color I need to do a red palette with it.

@ Steph: Actually I'm planning on doing this guy with an MP40 instead of a Mauser. I plan on doing an MP40 series, including Fallschirmjager, Gebirgsjager and SS Grenadier. I've been meaning to do an MP40 for some time now.

@Blue Monkey: I hope to do a Russian Naval Infantry dude with a striped shirt at some point. So you may be able to use him instead.
