Gatorade or Powerade?

Personally I'd rather drink my own urine than either of those drinks.
The sad part is that it'd probably be healthier for you, too.

None of the above. Water for me, thank you very much.

Neather, I perfer high quality H2O

The sugars in either are not optimal for sports performance or recovery. Fructose and sucrose (and lactose) are in no way ideal during the heat of the moment.

Honey, with its high proportion of dextrose is superior, and the drinks should be made from something that turns into glucose easily (to get the sugars to the cells fastest)

Neither. I'll stick to Vittel, or in a pinch, Volvic Touch of Fruit.

I was told that milk was good because it neutralises lactic acid.

There are people who are lactoseintolerant and cannot have milk.

Take it from me, probably one of the only responders to this thread that actually uses sports drinks for their intended purpose.

I've used both on 4 hour runs. Either works. It comes down to flavour and flavour alone. The chemical makeup of each is identical.

I thought of putting a poll up(to find out which one people prefer) but I had heard that one was nothing more then sugar water and the other was actually good for you. Googling just gave me opposing veiws so I decided to ask CFC

As a person who plays three sports, and exercises all year, I'd have to say Gatorade is better both for taste, and health/performance. Water is best overall, but between these two choices gatorade wins. Kinda on the side, but how can you people not like the taste of gatorade? There are like millions of flavors to choose from!!!!!!! And I though I was picky...

I know some weight lifters who take Tums, thinking that those will also help neutralise the lactic acid. I don't know if it helps or not (or with the milk). It might ...

But from a sugar perspective (glucose needs to get to the muscle cells), milk isn't very good.

I have experienced both and I must say powerade fits my taste better. I tried Gatorade during a 10 hours run (just relay with a team of 4) and I nearly had to vomit.
Below 1 or 1.5 h sports these drinks are not neccessary, but a friend of mine told me that since he drank one of these (I think it was isostar) he didn´t get cramps any more during his extended biking tours (~120 km or more). Water has not nearly the magnesia and calcium content to supplement the losses when you sweat.
I personally prefer some bread with marmelade or honey 2h before I go running and some water/ fruit juice afterwards.

Pepsico Inc. (Gatorade) products (& company) are better Coca-Cola Co. (POWERade) products (& company). General rule, trend, and truth - especially since the late 90s.
