Gen. Rommel's Mighty Unit Emporium - A Unit Preview Thread

So the Spartans will they be released together as a duo? I'm eagerly awaiting them....they are works of art man. Which reminds me....you should preview your Japanese units.

Aye, as a duo, plus an Athenean general hoplite as well. And the Japanese units will still be quite a bit of time till I can truly preview them all...mainly because I haven't started on most of them yet. :crazyeye:

Personally, I believe you should release those slick German soldiers or Vietnam-era American first, but anything you release will be great!

I stumbled on a site with very decent images of Revolutionary War soldiers (and lots!) a while back so when you come to them shoot me a pm or email. Come to think of it I should probably mention it to Sandris too... :mischief:

Or just post it. :p

Alright, cool! The more pictures, the higher the chance I'll make certain units, so never stray from posting...

And now to some good news...I am done with all my exams (in fact, I even got one of the grades back and am very happy, which is excellent :crazyeye:) and can now basically invest my time in making units without much getting in the way...that is until they draft me in July, but that's still a good ways down the line. So just a heads up, I can concentrate fully on unit making. :goodjob:

I'd like to see you put out the units you've previewed...I'm eager to see them in action General. :goodjob:

Well of course, that's what I meant with unit making. I won't even think about creating any new models until I've pumped out some for download first.

*Chants* "Germans! Germans! Germans!" ('specially the dudes without guns)

Ah, but now there's ever so much more anticipation. :p

The main reason I didn't post is cause I really want Rommel to do these and if he's going on something else I figured he wouldn't get as excited (and thus motivated) as if I posted them right when he was about to start the pack. :D (It is a pack...right???)

But anyway, by far the best site I've encountered for those making American Revolutionary units.

Almost has me wanting to make some.

Well you can bet your butt that I'm pumped to start once I get to that phase after seeing that site. Thanks for posting it, I promise not to let down for your efforts (at least I hope).

And you're right, it will be a pack! ;)

Working on the second Spartan's animations at the moment actually (the first one's are done and ready for rendering). I'm currently consulting with Plotinus about some tips for the second animation (I have something in mind, but need help on how best to do it).

Not too good at the moment guys...some may have read this in my birthday thread, but I have two problems at the moment:

1. My computer is screwed for some reason, and even after reformatting and partitioning, it's still a total piece of junk. I'm going to have to upgrade a few elements of my computer (mainly the motherboard since it seems to be broken) before I can do anything at all.

2. I've been drafted for the German military and am reporting on tuesday for my basic training. Good thing is that I'll be getting paid, meaning I'll be getting money to finance my computer parts.

Essentially, I'll only have weekends to work on units...I'll try my best to get you guys some working units, but please bear with me. All I can promise is that I'll invest as much effort as possible, so I hope you guys will at least feel that all this time was worth the wait.

I'm actually most excited to make these guys:

They're the 14th Regiment of the New York State Militia, from Brooklyn to be exact. They were notorious for their hard fighting and also earned the nickname "Red Legged Devils" by Gen. Stonewall Jackson, not solely due to their brightly colored red pants. They were considered some of the best soldiers the north had to offer and for a while, were even the president's personal guard.

How about the guys below?

In fact, there's a re-enactment group here in Wisconsin that portrays these men. Was thinking about joining, but I don't have the cash to get started (even with loaner gear).
