GeneralMatt's Creation Thread

Ahem.. yeah.. I will give you a hint, rhymes with Gigantic. ;)

Anyways, here one sister ship was a Hospital Ship, so I am inlcuding two skins, and one slightly modified model.

Actually, the explanation is this.

Our internet was down on Sunday for a while, so for a lack of better things to do, I wanted to model something. But the only blueprints I had was of this thing.. And it was requested also..

Titanic doesn't rhyme with Gigantic...

I thought maybe it was the Titanic, but I couldn't figure out why you would make it... the Lusitania could at least be used for a WWI scenario.

All the same era. Titanic's sister ship, the HMS Brittanic served as a Hospital ship in WWI.

Guess they don't rhyme, hmm..

And here is the Hospital Ship Skin.

If these look ok, I will release them in a few hours.

There are actually three sister ships in the series... Olympic, Titanic and Britannic. Unlike her sisters, Olympic actually didn't go down with a huge loss of life... Titanic and Britannic, both met horrible fates with large loss of life.

Of course let's see Matt reproduce the Olympic's WWI paint-scheme!

On May 12, 1918, Olympic, under the command of Captain Bertram Fox Hayes, successfully rammed the U-boat U-103, the only known sinking of a warship by a merchant vessel during World War I.

I read that yes, Brittanic struck a mine, fortunately only 30 died though.

Talk to the "30" who died about how "fortunate" the ship was!

Oh, and Britannic was to be named "Gigantic", but they changed the name... didn't want bad mojo from the Titannic... the other name they considered for the ship was "No matter what you do, this ship will not sink"... but it was a tad long.

I was saying fortunate for the other hundreds of men who survived. ;)

Yes, it all is interesting, at least the Britannic had a better cateer than her sister that hit an iceberg..

Anyways, do these look good enough for release?

Needs a bit more detail around the stern and bow, but aside from that this Titanic looks just like the Civ 3 unit that was made a long time ago. :goodjob:

[Octavius says this in response to all those Civ 3 critics who say Civ 4 units are of very poor quality...]

I guess I can extend the bow and stern hull to make sort of a railing, other than that, I cannot do much, too many polygons you know. :(

Yes indeed! I am just not sure what detail to add exactly, what was on the stern and bow?

Ahh, thank you! I will definitely add some stuff in then.

Aside from Leonardo DiCaprio?
Yeah... can you model him on the bow? I don't think it would take too many polygons... the head can be realistically modeled with a single block.

Oh, and don't forget, the animation should include lowering of lifeboats at the end of every move.
