Evening all! Being a newbie to this forum I don't doubt that my question has been answered several times already, so may I start with a suitably grovelling apology and ask it anyway. I've had an original version of civ3 for some years, but have recently discovered the PTW and Conquests upgrades, which I have duly downloaded (along with patch 1.29) from the civ fanatics 'patch' link. When I unpacked them they installed themselves into suitably named subfolders of the 'Infogrames\Civilisation\' folder. However, they do not appear as options on the standard civ start menu, and when I try to run them from their own directories I get a succession of missing .dll file errors, starting with the 'binkw32' error that I've come across elsewhere in this forum (I tried copying across from the parent 'civ' menu, but then another one appeared). I know I'm missing something really obvious, but I'm stumped. Er... help?

Hi :wavey:

PtW and Conquests are not free upgrades. All you have downloaded are updaters that would work if you had bought earlier copies of PtW or Conquests. You need to buy Civ3 Complete or the Conquests enhancement pack, which are available pretty cheaply these days, now that Civ4 has arrived.

Aha! Suddenly it all makes sense. I just knew there had to be a simple explanation. Thanks for turning on the light.
