Getting Started

We had a Golden Age from 90 to 2008 ? Wow! Either I live in the wrong part of EU or we don't have the same idea of what a Golden Age is :)
 
Historically, a Golden Age will only ever be determined to have been far enough in the past that all people who actually lived then have long been dead. People who actually remember facts are unfortunately too bothersome to the gilding process. By its very definition a Golden Age is an idealized and romantized era of history - typically manufactured to fit a narrative that serves a contemporary political interest.

Now, how to add similar effects to the game? :crazyeye:
 
Some obvious historic Golden Ages:
US 1990s, 1950-early 1960s
Japan 1970s-mid 1980
England ~1830-1890
Rome: 5 Good Emperors period, AD 96-180
Ottomans: late 15th century
Spain: 16th century
Greece: 5th century BC
Arabia: Late 8th AD
China: 1990s-2000s?
Danes: 9th, 10th century?

Germany and France and Russia are less obvious.
 
Thal - the new v106 isn't showing up on the website right, it still shows v105 - If I click on the DL button it shows that I will DL v106, but after DL'ing it shows that it is v104?????
 
There were some problems I noticed in v106, so I've delayed it and returned to the last version people said is stable (v104). I'm going to play through a game tomorrow to check for bugs.
 
Thal - is there a way to increase research time to marathon time, but keep city production and worker speeds at standard or epic time? I really enjoy it taking longer to research (so I can enjoy things longer), but waiting 20 something turns to build a pasture is insane. I have tried modding some with no luck. I have gotten to where I don't try many other mods anymore, most seem to break the game when loaded with other mods. I was hoping for some information on this, so I could make sure it was compatible with VEM. Thanks for your help.
 
Just add this to the mod or a new one of your own. It changes Epic's research and culture rates to the marathon rate. Click here to see how to create a personal mod.

Note that with these changes you will probably run out of things to build in cities.

Thal, if I was going to add this change to the MOD where would I do this at? I have looked through every folder and I'm not able to find anywhere to either update or make this change. Thanks.
 
WoW, speeding up animation is definitely a wonderful thing. Plus the addition of custom notifications is very nice. Thank you very much Thal
 
I have a wonderful treat for the next version of VEM:



Took much more time than expected to get that to work, but the end result is nice. It does cause a tiny but noticeable lag every time a specialist is added or removed (thanks to having to recalculate how many specialists there are and where they go).
