Give me 18, but not on Earth - new PBEM

Internet was out this AM.

Give_me_18,_but_not_on_Earth_AD-1130_to_Majic onwards

BTW - Russia was kicked to AI last turn as the human player resigned (he is currently losing his various cities).

I saw this. Based on the state of his empire and that it will be gone in a few turns anyway, I didn't think it made sense to go back and find a replacement player. In this sort of situation, I'm ok with retiring to AI. But generally if anyone is going to leave I'd prefer to hear from them first so we can get a replacement.

Agreed. If this happens again, I know a few people who specialize in playing the last few turns for dying players in pbem / pitboss games. They seem pleased to collect these sorts of scalps :dunno:.

I haven't heard from Oistrakh who showed interest in taking over the Zulu because the email I sent him last week was still in my "Outbox" until last night which was the first opportunity since then.

I will play this turn but I must get serious about finding permanent replacements for all of my game

Imp K is holding up a lot of games right now... I've sent him numerous emails pestering him. If he doesn't emerge within a couple days we can start thinking about taking action. I know he is between school semesters, so he must be on a mighty bender right now...

Imp K and worked out our relationship (thank you for asking).

or not. Sigh. Approaching 8 days. That is one serious bender.

Well, we seem to gave got to the point where most players can be relied upon to play quickly, and a number of others can be relied on to take around 3 days on average to play their probably 5 minute maximum turns....

Yikes, I am getting lost in a galaxy far far away and/or wasted with my best friend for a few days and suddenly the entire PBEM community is at a standstill. Maybe I should get a few replacements for a bunch of games.

I think the fact that civfanatics went down for a week there really screwed things up. You don't see nearly as much action on the PBEM forum anymore like we used to since before the site going down. Though there still are a few new players looking for games, which is good. If I didn't have so many games going right now myself I would totally make a new one to keep them interested. Hopefully a lot of it is the holidays and not the slow-coming death of PBEM for this great game. Knoedel is the perfect example - he was obsessed with this game for a while and now he's very clearly losing his interest, and the day will come where he either disappears entirely or decides to find a replacement for every game he's in... there are only very few of us who enjoy this game to its fullest extent and is really in for the lifelong commitment!
