I am having problems with vanilla civ. I have been reinstalling it, but when I play it simply sais it sees no cd.... FROM WHICH I JUST INSTALLED IT!

This sucks big time. Been busy now for an hour, but no succes....

One of my housemates is known as the pc doctor, but he won't be here till sunday evening :aargh: .

This means I won't play before sunday evening I'm affraid.... If anybody sees chance to go in between, that is fine with me...

It's not early, in my religion Birthdays are celebrated for a full week with presents, beer, and ummmm more beer.

That would put it on me, if I have a chance I'll play today or tomorrow(doubtful), if not you can just have an extension till sunday or so. Good luck with the computer, stapel.

Pre Turn 1250 AD: Switch to courthouse where we have none (Vineland).

Since we have 14 more turns of peace with cathy, I will focus on India. I think we should make peace with her a soon as we are (almost) allowed to attack Cathy. India will give us military tradition, we will upgrade our knights and scare the bejesus out of Cathy then.

Who put those English and French slaves into Vineland :crazyeye: ? Man, that city is angry!

Turn 1; 1255 AD; Vineland has a courthouse. Start pre-build for knight. I tell the Russian knight to back off. Cathy sais she will. SoKnights move towards Uralsk (Indian).
Turn 2; 1260 AD; Uralsk razed.
Turn 3; 1265 AD; Indian Cavalry spotted. I will make peace when things get a little too hot! Loose one knight, but finish the cav with a second.
IT: loose a knight to a cav attack.
Turn 4; 1270 AD; Horsies again! Our knights raze Bengal without losses (2 retreats) we killed a regular rifle, a conscript rifle and a pike. We are playing with fire when attacking fortified 6 defense (+50% for fortification, +50% for cities) with our 4 attack point knights. Our knights are bleeding. I see no better solution than grabbing navigation, economics and military tradition from the Indians
Turn 5; 1275 AD; Return units home!
Turn 6; 1280 AD; We kill a barb camp with a cav. Steam Power available. Our workers will be jobless in 2 or 3 turns, so I consider buying it from the Babs.
Turn 7; 1285 AD; A wondering cav uses an Englsih swordman for targte practice. He doesn’t well enough, as he stays veteran.
IT’ Rusia and India at peace :( . Babs settle on our continent.
Turn 8; 1290 AD; :sleep:
Turn 9; 1295 AD; Raze Nottingham, which was founded in my 2nd turn. As I do so with an elite archer, after two succesful bombards, a

We are building up a fine force of knights. My idea is to bash Cathy asap.

Sorry guys, been super busy. Halfway through the turns already(been that way for 2 days, but havn't had any civ time since Wed:(), but I won't get a chance to finish till this afternoon. Expect the log around 2 or 3.
 
Ah, it is just that I have experience with a player suddenly completely disappearing. (think is was K8).


Another think: The game is really getting me. Though we spend a real lot of time discussing about city placement and other stuff, I think the first half of the game is still relatively easy going.
The tough part is yet to come. I really had to quit, while my heart wanted to play on!
I am just very curious! Will our stack of cavalry (which need to be grouped and even a bit upgraded from knights here and there) be able to do some serious damage to the Russians?

Gengis, you will get to decide where to place howmany cavs, before going at it. Concentrate on the core? Taking out those irritating small Russians villages, in OUR land, Do a bit a of both, thus risking a failure anywhere? And: you can spoil a leader!

btw- I know what you mean, I wanna say screw it & just keep playing every time the log comes back to me. Although this isn't stressful yet, (you're right) we havn't even gotten to the tough part yet. It will definatly turn into a nail-biter very soon.

You wanna see a stressful game check out DI1- a regent 3CC AW(the semi-insperation for this game), now thats the most hectic, edge of your chair, screaming at the moniter SG I've played in. I need to smoke a cigarette just to read the turn logs. :lol:

A day late & a dollar short, thats the story of my life.

Flight Check- Military report: 3 workers, 1 archer, 11 Sw, 2 musk, 10 Kn, 11 rifles, 6 cavs, 3 cats, 3 cannons, 2 caravels and a partridge in a pear tree. Not to mention my buddy, Rictoffen. Weak compared to Russia; average- Bab, Zulu, Persia; strong- England & India.

Diplo Front: We’re at war with England(of course) & Shaka.

Babylon & Russia have Steam Power, Russia offers us a better deal(6 less gpt), but that means we’ll have to postpone the war for another 20 turn. No way since in 4 turns we’ll get an extra 115gpt & have no deals active with the Ruskies. But whats this?? We’re currently trading them Ivory & dyes for their spices & gems straight up, and 16gpt for furs. That helps out!
Renegotiate the furs deal for 14gpt.
Throw the dyes, ivory, WM, 20gpt, & 1351g in for Steam Power.
Get their spices for 12gpt & 12g
Get their spices for 15gpt & 1g. I really didn’t want to do this, but with the unhappiness problems in Vineland because of he foreign citizens & it’s only gonna get worse.

Now for the good & bad news. The bad news is we don’t have any coal. The good news is there’s coal in Magnitogorsk(Russian city between Dye, Coast & Berlin……….. The great news is that’s Russia’s only source of coal & there’s 5 different boycotts going on right now, involving everyone but the Persian’s.

I’ve also pretty much depleted our treasury getting us Steam Power, however I think it will be more then worth it.

Change Coastville, from Cav to Frigate(our 3 caravels are out in No Man’s land for god knows what reason & we have 0 navy defense. I’m a bid fan of taking out ships before you have to deal with them landing troops next to your unprotected capitol. Although we’ll still need to get lucky with the Zulu havning ironclads.

What to do with our leader? There’s 3 options: An army, Newton’s, or save him for ToE. Personally, I think with the coming war we’ll spring another before anyone researches SM & starts on it, so that really only leaves two choices. Newton’s isn’t beneficial for us at the moment, but would be very nice to keep it out of the Zulu/Bab’s greedy paws. However, this ones a no brainer, a Cav army would wreck @#$#, and that’s what we need so desperatly.

1- Not too much, start moving troops into position, load up my newly formed army with Cavs, MM a couple cities.
Couple Civs have Dem & Comm but that’s all we’re down.

More Cossacks show up, looks like a patented AI “sneak” attack.

2- Take a quick loan out with the Ruskies, 800gp for 45gpt. Demand they leave our territory. Shock, they declared war. Didn’t see that one coming, or anything:rolleyes:. Our treasury just jumped 800g for free & we saved 345g from paying them over the next 3 turns, time to blow our stolen loot.

Dial up our old buddy Gandhi, we make small talk about how they’re trying to rebuild their fallen cities, lick the wounds of their decimated troops, ect ect. I tell him how sorry we are about killed thousands of his people & burned about 10 cities last year, but we need his help. Gandhi is such a nice forgiving guy, he offers to join us for our WM & 390g. I finally talk him into taking our WM, 18gpt & 7g(don’t wanna get screwed if he has a change of heart). Gandhi, who’s still furious at us, declares war on Cathy.:lol:

With this new warm feeling of happiness due to spreading peace around the globe I give Hammi a call, he mentions how much he’s starting to dislike his neighbor. Well, now that you mention it you can always join us against them. He agrees for the low low price of a couple elephants. Hammi, also furious with us, declares war on Shaka.

Arrgh!! With the war cutting our empire in two, Dyeburg only has…………. dyes. I rush the Cav there & change over to some clowns for a couple turns.

El* Kn kills spear, -1hp.
El Kn kills spear, -1hp. Raizes buckasomething(between dye & ivory), just so happens they put that city on top of a coal deposit but never got it connected to the rest of the city. Sweet! Now we’ll have a back up supply.
Cv army kills pike in Mag, leaves only a spearman.
Vt Cav killed by rifle attacking Marmansk(next to Vinland).
Vt Cav kills spear in Miakop(under coastville).

IT- Gargantuan amount of counter attacks. We lose 2 muskets, a sword, 4 knights, & a cat. Kill off about 6 Cossacks. In a glaring miscalculation on my part we lose 6 slaves that were defended(on a forest) by 2 muskets & a sword. OUCH!!

3- Cav army takes out 2 spears in Mag, burns the city. Dyeburg is now back in the loop.
Rush Cav in Vineland.
Vt Cav kills Csk, -3hp.
Vt Cav kills Csk, -3hp. Hehe, we got our catapult back. It’s immediately upgraded to a cannon.
El Kn kills Lb.
Vt Kn kills pike in Kazan.
El Kn kills red Csk, -3hp.
Vt Cav kills Csk, -2hp.

IT- :lol: Suddenly now that Shaka wants to talk peace. Wasn’t he snubbing my offer 3 turns ago??
England declares war on India.
Lose an Kn to counter attack. Kill 1 Cossack, but those @#$# keep retreating back into their territory.

4- Vt Cav kills Lb, promotes, & razes Monsomething(the last remaining interior Russian city).
Vt Cav kills rifle in Grozny, -2hp.
El Cav killed by pike.

Vt Cav kills Cossack, -2hp. Leaves just a spear in Grozny.

IT- Vt Cav kills Lb outside vineland, -1hp.
Our brake wounded newly promoted cav is killed by a Cossack, -2hp. After I take that one out we’ll be rid of pesky horses running around in our interior.

Cav kills Sp, burn Grozny & nets us 4 slaves. Nice, I’m only down 2 slaves now.:lol:

IT- Babs complete Newton’s.
No counter attacks, looks like Cathy got a bit more then she bargained for.
However a Babylonian city was razed.

6- Put one of those poor Russian slaves to death building a colony, we have our coal hooked up.
Start our slaves back to work, they’ve groan lazy lately with nothing to do.
Cav army kills rifle in Maikop, -5hp or something.
Cav army kills Csk in Maikop, -2hp.
Cav army kills spear, -1hp & razes Maikop. Another slave.

Cathy offers up 110g & 34gpt for peace. HA!! She also has medicine at this point though. As does hammi, who doesn’t want to trade it.

IT- Beat down a single Csk, that’s the extent of their counter attack.

7- Healing Cav kills red Csk, -2hp.
Vet Cav kills rifle, -2hp.
Elite Cav retreated by redlined rifle.
Elite Kn finally kills rifle, -3hp. That guy was a tough defender. Burns Kharkov, and snags us 7 slaves to put to work.

IT- An Cav fends off attacks from 3 Cossacks, killing them all.
A caravel kills off 6 barb galleys & only loses 1 hp.

Our source of coal has been exausted. :eek:

8- Not much action this turn, mostly repositioning troops, setting up slaves to connect our back up source of coal, and moving in on next city.

[edit]- Our rep is shot, I don't know if I did it or not cause I was making all pay per turn for pay per turn deals. But it doesn't help the cause.

[edit2]- After thinking more about it, I guess I had to have done it cause Russia wouldn't have given me the loan otherwise. It was Hammi that the deal was broken with, and in reviewing my post & thinking over what I did........... I have no freaking clue how that happend. It's gotta be when I got everyone into WW1, but I have no idea how that triggered it.

100 Cool pts to the person who can figure out where I went wrong. ??? Me and Hammi were buds the whole time. :lol:
