Gmail is starting to get on my nerves

Anyways after this thread I decided to drop webmail completely for a week and see how it goes. (By the way, is there any way to have Thunderbird notify you about an email without actually having Thunderbird open? It's quite heavy on the memory.)

I just use one of my old email addresses instead of a phone number. I currently use Kontact for reading my GMail, as I can archive folders with that. Kontact also supports encryption in email too.

Well with the lovely new "compose" window that has no option to opt out (which is worse than useless for me), I have no reason to use the webmail interface now.

Do you mean no choice not to send the email? There is a choice - you can send it to the trash can.

I got auto-upgraded to it again this week, but was still able to go back to the old one. Though I've heard from other GChat contacts that they weren't so lucky. So, your mileage may vary. In the meantime, I'll be cheerily sending e-mails from the Old Compose! :D

There's no option for me to switch back to the old one.

There is a way to change back still, although it will go away soon, click the ^ in the lower right of the new compose and its one of the options. The new compose is a bit of an odd choice but it doesn't make it harder to write a new e-mail either, so quitting gmail because of it is just being silly.

The option wasn't there in mine. I'm not quitting GMail either; just quitting the webmail interface.

I have over a dozen email accounts and managing them with Thunderbird is a breeze. Only thing I have against gmail/hotmail/ymail/etc, they are always watching you. :scan:

I prefer using my domain for confidential mail.

I don't really have anything considered confidential, unless you count my Steam receipts or something.

I'd call that "personal" or "private" rather than confidential, but yeah, I don't want Google knowing some stuff. I tend not to use email for that stuff at all though tbh.
