God and King 2kGreg Steam

We saw CSes giving new quests, and multiple quests. (we want gold/accumulate most faith next 20turns etc)
CS wanted to denounce Aztec and Greg did, and he became friends with that CS.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Units do deal less damage: scout attacked fortified barb warrior and only took 39 damage.
Hey, that's actually really cool! One of the things that made CSs feel somewhat
in vanilla was that they had basically no influence on the diplo relations of the big civs, beyond going to war when an ally gets attacked. I like how this sounds :D A lot of reviews have been pointing out the revamped CSs as one of the biggest changes in the expansion, maybe they actually have a point. Here's hoping :crazyeye:

Edit: All units deal less damage, that was confirmed months ago. The idea is to make battles longer and more tactical. I was worried taht it would make warfare too slow, but for what little I saw it works well enough, better than vanilla in any case.

While he did lose his city, Greg also let a Great General die without even it putting up a fight... and he didn't really have any units on the city's front to see if the Inca would deal with them.

The Aztecs didn't try and pass the front he established near his city either or tried much to tactically take it on.

Also I like how melee ships can get a promotion to plunder gold/bonus vs cities.

I want to rewatch, but the AI has an issue with knocking off meatshields. One Aztec spear just stood there and did not move, while Greg bombarded the city. The Aztec spear should have followed up it's city's attack against Greg's Pictish warrior. The Aztecs might have knocked off the unit and then would have had Greg's catapults at his mercy, at least they would have had to retreat. I think the spear should have tried something. Anyway, we''ll see soon enough. I wish the whole world got it tonight.

Did he post the video on youtube because before the stream started he said he would and i just checked and i didnt see it. Just wondering because i missed the stream and would like to see it.

Good old Maddjinnville.

Wasn't that the best part of the stream? :mischief:

AI is still very dumb

He was playing at King level.

These two belong together. Can't expect the AI to play 'best' on a low diff level. Emperor would've been better.

I think the Aztec spear looked at the fortified Pict Warrior and realized it would die. +20%+15%+15%+rough terrain+2xrough terrain bonuses+fortified = a seriously potent Pict Warrior. It was likely a 'slightly better' AI choice not to suicide attack it. If the city attacked the catapult, the AI might have been able to save the city though.

I almost watched the video, then I shut it off about 5 seconds in... didn't want to spoil it!:D
I don't know though, vids don't usually spoil it for me anyways, I've been reading about the expansion since I heard the news for the first time back a couple months ago. I'm really excited to try the new civilizations though, especially the Dutch and Austria, them and the new Great War units, those look really really awesome. One thing I have to comment on is that they need to make Zeppelins a standard unit for late industrial, like an aerial scout unit or something that can also add city defence.

I definitely enjoyed it, even though it was slightly watered down because of all the chat room activity, which I shut off almost immediately. Towards the end before the Inca attacked, that army that they moved out towards Greg's borders was impressive. The vanilla AI would've never done that. I'm looking forward to it tonight, have had my Mt. Dew and am ready for action, and the inevitable Steam crash :D

Only a few hours left.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'd still like to watch it again though. I had to leave for a bit and missed some turns.

Ok, time to rewatch the stream video until GnK download time.

Aargh. I missed the stream and can't re-watch it for some reason. Might be because I'm using the internet in China, which is a pain at the best of times.

@Nokmirt: living in China is good and bad, like anywhere else. I live in the centre of the country, so it's poorer and less developed (but also more "authentic") than the rich coastal cities like Shanghai or Hongkong. You'll find things you expect (the food, the history, the culture etc) and plenty of things you wouldn't. If you have specific questions, send me a PM.

Thanks for tuning in guys :)

Also man you guys are harsh! Believe me when I say that that game was in no way indicative of how well I normally play! I didn't want to sit there pondering the best move to make each turn, or I would have only gotten through half as many turns :P

Don't worry about that 2K Greg. It was fun to watch. I just got done playing, what a vast improvement the XP is. Of course I have a ways to go, but so far so good. :)

We're just messing. If anything, I have very rarely seen a community manager demo the game for fans like this, which was just wonderful. But I do think you followed what some random idiots told you in the chat a wee bit too much :D
