The Race Is On

Moscow State University

In 1980 Humanity stood at the begining of a new age in technology. The Cold War was a decade long, new patterns of life have set in, and the relative stability of the last decade allowed for quick scientific development. Over the next ten years the world would be transformed completly by incredible scientific breakthroughs, and the Russian scientists were not going to let the glory escape them.

Sergey Korolev
space_Korolev1.jpg

"The Chief Architect" of the Soviet Space and Missile Programs. He led the development of the Soviet Program starting with the captured German V2 rockets and ending with the most recent and sophisticated SS-17. He has also led and designed the Russian Soyuz launch vehicles as well as headed the project for creation of the Mir Space Station. "The Korolev Team" is judged to be one of the best in the world and has continuously atounded the world by keeping Russia ahead of every other nation in ballistic technology.

Vladimir Chelomey
33-10-chelomey.jpg

Chelomey has remained in the dark and few knew about his existance until the collapse of the Coalition a decade ago. During his work for the Coalition he has headed the Nuclear Weapons development program, and was responsible for the Russian thermonuclear developments. Following the collapse of the Coalition he briefly headed the INTRESA Fusion Team, but after the project was abandoned he begun work in a small and at a first glance uninteresting Institute of Theoretical Physics which he now heads. Under his guidance the Institute has drawn many of the best Russian Scientsits and grown almost to five times its size.

Igor Kurchatov
Kurchatov-43.jpg

A Nuclear Physisist who worked for a long time under Chelomey. After the collapse of the Coalition he took over the Nuclear Chermistry and Physics Institute of INTRESA and has headed the projects there for a long time. He also briefly studied the problem of Fusion, but the project was terminated. Currently he is working on traditional hydrogen and nuclear energy sources and leads the team that is developing nuclear power for non-military use in Russia. His research however is much more far reaching than that.

Yuli Khariton

Khariton wokred on Fusion during the Coalition days. After the Coalition collapsed and the program was abandoned he focused on chemistry, and was soon heading the INTRESA Chemistry Institute. His work has always been closely related to nuclear chemistry and he has never gone far away from it, but he chose to aproach the problem of nuclear chemistry and reactions from the chemical rather than the physical point of view. His team has mage significant progress in moluecular engineering and small-particle manipulation.

Andrei Sahkarov

Nuclear Physisist and an expert on radiation in the Coalition research group. Was one of the first to study in detail the electromagnetic spectrum. He chose to head a MGU Institute of Radiation and Waves with a number of close friends. His fascination with light and other waves and radiation have been driving the Russian science in the field of electrospectrometry for almost a decade, and he has constantly said that he is almost on the verge of some great achievement.

Will send orders when Brazil confirms that they want the trade route and Japan replies to my diplo.

Sorry to Stormbringer for taking so long due to RL

The United Islamic States has signed this and hopes to spread peace with our Russian friends who has seen that enmity between the peoples of the book need not exist. Christians, Muslims and Jews are all members of the Abrahamic familty and all attest to the fact that there is one god. Our government while continuing to support the purity of Islam we at the same time with to extend our hand in friendship to the other peoples in the holy Koran!

To Greece
From the United Islamic States

We still demand the return of the Cypriot Greek occupation zone to the United Islamic State of Turkey and the Greek recognition of the Turkish historical right to the whole island.

No Silver not this turn. In one year - yes. I need to work out a consitution to include non SA members.

Can you at least give us unoffical membership till then? Affilation or observor status or something? The Indian diplomats are bored and I think South America would be a nice place to send them.

As for (oc: NPC) accusations against the CU... well here are our order for the turn - and please note that they are the run-of-the-mill!

Spend 19 on upgrading the economy of every CU state.
The 'outer' states of the Commonwealth in relation to the CU Prime has always been supreme and we spoonfeed them because we love them. Any attack on the 4 children the CU has left will be considered abominable.
---

The Commonwealth Union has now been a member of SADETO for ten and a half years. Despite this fact and that our membership has been widely supported within SADETO for 15 years we are not invited into our rights.
...
why are we being kept out in the cold? What wrong have we done?

To Brazil
From the CU

We desperately need the economic fellowship denied to us despite Brazil letting us in 10 1/2 years ago and 2/3 of the nations in SADETO supporting our membership. Why do you insist to keep using us like wallpaper? Is wearing down your doormat to make SADETO look good all we are good for...?

(OC: if it's necessary I can find several posts where I am let in, or at least one I know of for certain that's very specific)

OOC: okay okay. Both are granted provisional membership. I will change the constitution later.

Perhaps it almost time for some sort of celebration. Though we were full members 4000 days ago long before the also honorable India. The Union is glad to hear this news.

Hooray...? Do we dear to applaud?

...

Will we share in the great society...? We certainly hope so.
The CU will offer it's projects A-C when they have been finished. They will be of great interests.
If the CU might have some of your space technology this would help things out a lot since projects A-C are related.
After 11 years the project is back on track.

- Home Office, Mrs. A. Wintersen

Argentina to Ivory Coast :

Our medical and research facilities are advanced. We are willing to contribute to the AIDS relief effort by participating in initial research and diagnosis efforts, and perhaps formulating methods and pharmaceuticals for treatment.

To the Ivory Coast and Nigeria
From the United Islamic States

We propose that we enter into a strategic relationship to ensure our rights and needs are assured of in the African continent.

*sigh*No reply from blackheart.Well looks like I will have to arm my ICBMs now.

To The UIS
From The Ivory Coast

Proposal Pending, requireing public opinion on Islamic Forces in the Country, Polls look to suggest that if current threats in Africa continue they would be for it, otherwise they see it as an Islamic takeover.

We are a democratic country and though we would like to entertain closer relationships, we do however have to represent the people.

To the United Islamic States
From Greece

Why should we turn over the territory that is over 80% Greek and has been a part of the Greek culture since the years before the birth of Christ, especially when neither Turkey nor the UIS is offering any compensation in return?

Amendment to Yalta Accords:

Economic Agreement

3. The Russian government grants the UIS corporations the same acess to the Russian economy as set out in provisions 1 and 2.
