I wish I was playing someone not isolationist like Indonesia, China, North Korea... some nation I could flex muscles and play on my strengths with.
That said, it is true that it is about the fifth time, but then again - I've been isolationist in all but a large amount of words coming out ever since saving the Islamic world and Vietnam.

What nations have Malaysia saved?
Hmmm... I think you helped the CU out at the time! =^_^=

OOC: China is more isolationist then the CU! :p

A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step

1095861678.jpg

June 1975, Moscow, School Number 25

Mick stood on stage as the lights came on. The crowd of his peers was cheering on their feet. The last school play of Mick's high school career turned out to be a blast. One of Mick's friends, Ryann, ran up to him and gave him flowers and hugged him. Ben, another one of Mick's friends, was out in the crowd, cheering at the top of his voice. Everything was good. Friends all around, success. Mick sneaked a peek at Ryann and thought to himself, "maybe she will like me after this..."

Mick's Home

"Mick, I just want you to study," - Mick's father is a tall, welll-built man, with completly white hair.
"I know dad, I know, its just that thater is so important to me," - Mick did feel bad for not paying as much attention to his studies as he should have.
"And what are you going to do with your life in a few weeks?" - Mick sighed, he knew this talk all too well. His father was going to talk about how theater does not pay, and how he cares about Mick, and how Mick should study and become a scientist because he was always good at it and should not waste his talent on theater. Mick would just sit there and sigh.
After the talk Mick went upstairs, picked up the phone and called Ryann.
"I'm sorry Ryann, I really am. I can't go with you tonight to the concert...Yeah...I hope you have fun with Ben," - Mick threw the phone against the wall after he hung up. Not that it helped anything, but it made him feel a little better.

Back in School in a Few Days

"I don't know, its so late...Prom is tonight..." - Mick was holding some flowers in his hand.
"Yeah dude, and she has waited until the last day for you to ask her! What the hell were you thinking? I have an excuse, I was high, but what were you thinking?" - you could never tell when Ben was serious and when he wasn't, but he did smoke pot.
"I mean...she probably has plans already..." - Mick was shy, in case anyone wasn't sure yet.
"There she is! Go ask her," - Ben shoved Mick in the direction of Ryann, and prepared to watch.
Mick slowly stumbled towards Ryann who was standing by the window. As he hesitated another guy came up to her - a very popular runner. And just then Mick overheard them talking,
"Ryann, I hear youve got no date for Prom, want to go together?"
"Well..."
- Ryann hesitated for a long time, "Sure I guess...we can go together."
Mick dropped the flowers and stood there shocked. After the other guy left Ryann came up to Mick, without noticing the flowers on the ground.
"How are you Mick?"
"Good...Just wonderful," - that was hard to believe as Mick was fighting back tears. He turned around and left quickly. Ryann took a step after him and stepped on the flowers on the ground. She picked them up, looked at the quickly disappearing figure of Mick and realized what just happened. She stood in the middle of the hall with flowers in her hand, crying.

Later the Same Day, Mick's Home

Mick is sitting at a desk, with a half empty bottle of vodka. The phone rings.
"Yeah?" - Mick is less than happy to be bothered.
"Hey Mick, this is Genghis, where on earth are you? Its Prom." - Genghis was another friend of Mick's, but a much closer friend of Ryann.
"I am at home," - Mick hung up and drank another shot of vodka.
Phone rings again, and Mick picks it up violently, "What?"
"Hey, its Ben. Man, you need to come over here, this is actually fun. Especially if you mix it with pot man."
"Ben, listen, you know I am not coming."

"Sure, sure..." - Mick could hear Ben talking to someone else, "he says he is not coming, sorry," - and then Mick hung up and took another shot.
Phone rings again, and this time Mick rips it from its place and yells, "What?"
"Mick...its Ryann...Im sorry...I really want you to be here...please?" - Mick takes another shot - "Mick, please, I'm sorry, please come..."
Mick takes another shot and then starts singing, off key,
"Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday."

Ryann dropped the phone, crying. Mick hung up and took another shot. Than put his head down on the table and started crying.
The phone rang again. Mick didn't pick it up for a long time, but it didnt seem like it was going to stop, so he took it.
"Hello, are you Mick?" - the voice on the other end asked.
"Yeah...whadayaneed?" - Mick's head was spinning.
"I am sorry to tell you but your father was in an accident. He died on the way to the hospital. I'm very sorry."

****

And at that point Mick gave up. He would not stand up and fight for what he wanted in life. As a final respect to his father Mick went to the Academy of Sciences of Moscow.

November 1978, Moscow, a Bar

This is a new bar for Mick. He never came here before, but it is just like all the other once he has been to. He has already had a few drinks and it is getting late. The person behind the bad changes, and it is Ryann who replaces her. She notices Mick and comes over.
"Hi Mick..." - she is not sure if he will recognize her.
"Ryann? Hello, how are you?"
"I'm alright. What are you doing here? Shoulnd't you be studying?"
"To hell with studying, give me another drink,"
- she poors him a drink, he drinks it, - "And this is how I spend my evenings now a days, exciting, isnt it?"
"Mick, what happened to you?"
- Ryann cannot believe her eyes.
"Life happened. I went to the Academy of Sciences, lost my friends, never made new once...its just life...an unlucky one..." - Mick took another drink.
"Mick, why do you do this to yourself? Why did you go to the Academy?" - Mick just looks at her and takes another drink, - "Mick! Go to theater school, thats what you always wanted to do! Look at me, I'm working two jobs to pay through writing school, but I like it, and wouldnt trade it for anything."
Mick slams his glass down on the table so it breaks. Ryann pulls back. "Yes, yes, I know! I ruined my life! What else do you want to hear? You have the strength to keep going at your dream, I don't Ryann. I gave up. Thats it. And I do not need every other person kicking me about it!" - Mick stormed out of the bar. Ryann put her head down and started sobbing. That was not at all how she hoped her endevaor to ask Mick out on a date would end.

A Day Later, Cemetery

Mick is standing, with a bottle, over his father's grave. He is dressed in a black suit, but carelessness is obvious. His tie is not tied and shirt is not tucked it at places. His mother's grave is to the side. He takes a drink.
"Hello father...this is what I am now...an alchoholic...my life is miserable and I just pushed away the only person that cares even a little about me. You used to care, father...you always said you cared and wanted what is best for me. Wanted me to have a family and be able to support it, and so you said I had to go to the Academy, so I would have money...remember father? Well, I am in the Academy, and if I make it through I'll have plenty of money, but where is the happy life? Where is the family? Poosh, gone. I have nothing but misery and pain now. And its all your fault! This is all your fault!" - he is screaming by the end.
Mick falls on his knees and cries over the grave as the bottle which he dropped, rolls to the side.

February 1982, Moscow, Small Store

Ben is walking through the small aisles of his store. Mick is sitting in a corner.
"A beauty, isn't she?" - Ben asks.
"Yeah...great store. I hope the buisness goes well," - Mick is trying to be supportive, but it is obvious he is not very interested. Ben doesn't care much though.
"Yes it will. And I dont need much...just a little bit. A happy quite life here, and everything will be great. Have a family, kids, play with them. Smoke pot," - Ben laughes. Even though he hasnt smoked in a while he still jokes about it. Mick sighes and turns away, - "Hey man, what's wrong?"
"Nothing Ben, nothing. I just can't stand it, I don't know what to do,"
- he writes something on a piece of paper and dropps it on the floor, - "I will be going now Ben, take care."

Later that day Ben was sweeping and found the piece of paper. It read: "Hello Ben, I hope you are not too disapointed when you read this. I am going to kill myslef tonight. I hope you understand and won't try to stop me. I just cannot take this life anymore. I wish you the best of luck in your buisness and life. Always your friend, Mick."

Ben rushed to the phone and diled Ryann's number.

Same Day, Evening, Mick's Home

Mick finished writing the last letter. He looked outside, the sun has just set, and then took a gun that was on his desk in his hand. Cars were going by right outside the house and their lights were flashing in the room...

A few blocks away from Mick's house Ryann was in a car. She floored the gas pedal and was flying towards Mick's house, with two police cars chasing her. Cars rushed to the sides as they saw he aproaching and she navigated easily through the dense traffic. One more block to go...

Mick picked up a picture of Ryann from high school and stared at it for a second. Then crumpled it up and threw it on the floor...

One last turn. Ryann's car is flying at incredible speed. She pulls the wheel to the left, tired screech...

Mick picks up the gun...

Ryann loses control of the car. Sliding and spinning the car goes crashing through a fense and into a tree. Ryann is thrown out of the car head first. Police cars pull up.

Mick puts the gun down and goes outside to see what the commotion is about. He sees Ryann's body on the street just a few feet from his house. She is undoubtable dead. He goes down and kneels by her body.

Up in the sky a bright star is shining.

Later

Mick did not kill himself. Because of Ryann's sacrifice he dedicated his life to humanity and bettering this world. He joined MGU and soon became a member in Sergey Korolev's design team and was soon placed in charge of Project Hios.

****

Progress always comes in two waves. First go the romantics, adventurers, brave and lone souls. Then come the administrators, scientists, engineers. And then comes the gray, unintelligent mass in the name of which progress was made.

****

And so it was that people like Mick, rejected and expulsed by society, found their way to the next fronteer to become those lone romantics and adventurers that were going to pave the road for humanity. And the fronteer they were up against this time was Space.

Author's Note: The story was written in May 2005 by Mikhail Smirnov and Alexander Twitchell. Editted to fit the context on May 30th, 2005 by Mikhail Smirnov.

The whole story is a lot longer, its around 25 pages long, and yes my friend and I wrote it this month. What is above are small excerpts from the story, editted somewhat to fit the context of the NES.

It's part of a longer story? May I ask for what the story is for (i.e school, publishing etc.)

For fun. A friend and I got together after we acted together in a play "The Brick and the Rose" by Luis John Carleno, and decided to write a play with some of the same impresionistic elements Carleno used. It turned out to be a very short play, but it needed three acts, so we scrapped that idea and changed it into a short story.

Just an update, I am not finishing the Update today, sheer lack of time. Tomorrow :)

Bloody days off are far and few between, and get very full very fast.

Goober! I hurry up, write a story instead of doing hw, then go to work, come back home looking forward to an update and what do I get? I dont like this "update on the update" one bit!

OOC: Goober, are you still accepting orders?

IC:
President Veasna of the Federated Republics of Southeast Asia stepped out onto the balcony on the Presidential Palace in Phnom Penh. Below him, thousands of Cambodians choked the streets, a sea of black hair and angry faces. They were carrying signs, some written in the Latin alphabet and some written in Khmer, with phrases such as "Release Pol Pot, or Rangoon will burn" and "Free Kampuchea from the Chains of Myanmar". The people were shouting and chanting similar phrases.
Veasna sighed heavily. He could not believe that people were so ignorant. Did they not know that Veasna himself was a Cambodian, just like them, and meant only good for the people of Cambodia? He cleared his throat and put the microphone to his mouth. The demonstrators quieted down, and listened eagerly. Veasna began.

"My people. What in heaven's name are you doing? Do you not see what is happening here? Cambodia's roads, education, healthcare, and general quality of life are greatly improved since it was an independent nation, and because of what, my friends? That's right, the government of the FRSEA. And yet you still come out here, and threaten the very people who are trying to help you? My friends, if you remember, the FRSEA was created in the first place by an organization known as the Khmer Alliance, a group of Cambodian patriots who wished to free Southeast Asia from the reigns of its dictators. And today you gather here to claim that the government of the FRSEA does not care about Cambodia. All because of a man named Pol Pot."

"My people, Pol Pot is a criminal and a terrorist. He leads an organization that bombs and slaughters the citizens and cities of the FRSEA, for his own greedy desire of power. Power over the Cambodian people. My friends, after hours upon hours of interrogation of Pol Pot, we have discovered his secret goals. He planned to take complete control of Cambodia himself, and rule as a dictator. He plans to kill hundreds of thousands of Cambodians that he considered to be "political enemies". He plans to undo all that the FRSEA has worked so hard for. These words came right from his mouth, and I have the tapes to prove it. The tapes will be played for all to hear at 6:30 tonight, at the Public Services Center. All who are interested in hearing Pol Pot's treachery may come and listen. I invite everyone."

Veasna went inside, leaving a stunned audience. None of them could quite believe that their "great savior" Pol Pot was capable of such thoughts. They all put down their signs and slowy gravitated towards their homes, making plans to listen to those tapes tonight and see for themselves.

I echo Stormbringer's sentiments. Come on dude I need this update like I need pot! Otherwise an Indian guy is going to be visiting Victoria, and he is infected with a deadly virus so wacth it.

Guys, calm down, honestly. This NES is very time consuming, and unfortunately there are only 24 hours in the day. I should be able to get it done in a couple hours though.

*mumbles to self* NESers are a bunch of flip-flopping Liberal WHINERS! *mumbles to self*

Says goober, who has left and rejoined I don't know how many socialist parties, became centrist, and now is further right than Khan.

GoobNES01: Fallout – Update 17, “A new era of Peace?”

World Weekly News, December 31st, 1983

Pope goes on major tour of UIS!

Pope John Paul II has done yet another journey that no Pope has ever done before. He has just completed a 2 month tour of the United Islamic States, visiting many Muslims cities and nations. When he first announced the tour, many were skeptical of his plan. Many thought that Muslims would simply ignore him, and continue with their daily lives. Some Clerics went so far as to demand that local Governments bar him, and some did, in such places like Iran. He started his tour in Cairo, the city at the center of the UIS, with the Parliament Buildings and such. It was to a small crowd, about 10,000 people, mostly Christians, but some curious Muslims. He then shocked the world by speaking in Arabic. Not perfect Arabic, but good enough to understand him. He continued this on his tour, visiting Ankara, Damascus, Riyadh, Baghdad, Islamabad, and Tehran, among many others. He gave speeches calling on all people of the Bible, Muslims, Christians, and Jews, to overcome their differences, and unite. He asked for a new era of peace and prosperity among all God's Children. He praised Muslims for uniting under the UIS, and asked them to continue to try and be at peace with themselves, and the world. At first, he attracted small crowds of Muslims, but, at the end of the 2 months, he was getting crowds of up to 1 million, in Baghdad. Not everything went smooth, he was deported from Iran, there was security scares, and not all Muslims welcomed him, but experts agree that his trip might start to heal rifts between Muslims and Christians. All agree that what he did was very brave, and the world is probably a better place for it. The Pope also went on smaller, shorter tours to Greece, Poland, Russia, and Yugoslavia, appealing to Orthodox Christians to end the rift, and calling for a Christian Church, not an Orthodox one, and a Roman Catholic one. That trip went less well, especially his visit to Russia. All in all, this Pope is proving to be a fence-mender. His legacy is astounding already, and he is still young. the Pope is preparing for plans for a major visit to Africa next.

PRA-Mali war intensifies!

The border war between Mali and the People's Republic of Africa has intensified, with the PRA going on a major offensive against Mali, and gaining much ground. The PRA has captured the Malinese capital of Bamako, amidst heavy fighting, and the Malinese Government has relocated to Timbuktu temporarily. They are calling for aid from the UIS to fend off the evil Communists. the African Confederacy has also mobilized its forces, and there are scattered reports that it has taken some land in Mali, but no official confirmation yet. WNN reporters are having difficulty getting into the region, and are having to rely on first-hand stories, which are often not totally true. The Malinese Government seems on the verge of collapse, and the PRA seems to be set to conquer another country.

IRA begins negotiations with USE Government, stops attacks

The Irish Republican Army, demanding a free Ireland from the USE, has entered into what sources dub as “serious, fruitful negotiations” with the USE Government. The IRA has suspended all attacks against the USE, and most expect a free Ireland to emerge next year. Many doubt that Ireland will be totally independent, most say that it would make fore sense for Ireland to have political freedom, and just remain economically tied to the USE. A poll done by the WNN found that Irish are generally in favor of this proposal, by a margin of about 65%. Only some die hard extremists want Ireland to have no ties with the USE at all. The halt to violence has led to a calm returning to Ireland. The USE economy has picked up, but not yet regained its former high. It is expected to do so soon.

Italian Government-in-Exile founded in Moscow!

Some Italian Legislators in the local Italian Parliament have established what they are dubbing a “Italian Government in Exile” in Moscow, Russia. This fledgling group are mostly Italian extremists who demand an Italy free of the USE's influence. Polls done by the WNN indicate that support for full sovereignty might be slipping, as it went down to about 48% from before. Italians seem to want Independence, but they also seem very happy with the good economic times in the USE. Time can only tell what happens as a result of this. Perhaps an arrangement for political independence only can be arranged with the USE.

European Economies start to crumble, instability heightens

Some European Economies are starting to slide downwards. Economies in Benelux and Denmark are being hit hardest by this recession, and expert are not quite sure what is causing it. Norway, Poland, and Czechoslovakia are also feeling the downturn. The times are hardest in Benelux and Denmark, even though the former has adapted the Euro, the new European Currency being trumpeted by the USE. Benelux and Denmark are also facing political instability as their Governments, mired in bureaucracy, seem to be doing less and less for the people. If the situation continues, Benelux and Denmark might find themselves under the leadership of neighboring countries, like Germany or the USE.

Germany, Benelux adopt the Euro!

Germany and Benelux have both agreed to adopt the Euro, the currency of the USE. This means that the economies of the USE, Benelux, and Germany will be tied much closer together, along with Greece, who already adopted this currency. Other nations in Europe are also considering this move, such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, and Czechoslovakia. The effect on the powerful USE economy was minimal, as the German economy is still small and growing, but this move, along with the Irish settlement is expected to see a rise in the USE economy soon. There was virtually no effect to the Benelux economy, which is doing poorly. The Republic of Cyprus is rumored to be considering adopting the Euro, over the protect of Turkish Cypriots.

Russia drops restrictions on USA, hands back Alaska amid Russian protests!

In a move that shocked the world, Russia has unconditionally lifted all restrictions on the USA, including the restrictions on how big the USA's Army can be, restrictions on the USA having WMDs, and handed back Alaska to the USA. This is a major flip-flop in previous Russian policy in which the USA was handicapped. Negotiations had been ongoing over this issue, and Americans were in the streets protecting the restrictions in the millions over the issue. Russians seemed quite content with the restrictions, enjoying the wealth in Alaska, and ignoring the USA's demands to take down the restrictions. With this sudden change in policy, Americans are now rejoicing, and they re-elected the Republican Party yo power, obviously thanking them for lifting the restrictions without concessions, with a strong majority, about 55%. just a year before, the Democrats look poised to win with about 60%, as they were promising to liberate America from Russian imperialism. Experts are stunned by the move, and there was no consensus as to why it occurred. Many think that the Russian Government simply decided that the USA was trustworthy again. Many are saying that this looks like weakness on the side of Russia, who gave into American demands. Many Russians felt that way, and have taken to the streets, condemning the Government for their action. They are burning American flags, and condemning the Government, saying that Alaska is rightfully Russian, and that the USA has no right to get it back. Russians are also reminding the world of how America was in its diplomacy, constantly threatening the world with WMDs, and threatening world peace. Russians are angry at their Government, but it seems that this anger is not being represented in the Kremlin.

Autonomous Republic of Mindanao formed as Philippines resolves Muslim Uprising

The uprising in the Philippines in the south of that country by its Muslim people, under the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, has been successful, or so it seems. The Filipino Government sat down and negotiated what many are calling a surprisingly generous peace agreement, in which any state of the Philippines can ask for a Referendum on their sovereignty. If the referendum succeeds, then that state will be autonomous for 4 years, until it can vote to become totally independent of the Philippines. Well, MILF accepted that, held the necessary referendums, which easily passed, and now the Autonomous Republic of Mindanao, home of the Filipino Muslims, has been formed. The violence has stopped, and now Mindanao is autonomous, with their own Government, military, and economy. The Philippines, having just paid off its debt, and with the greater stability, is seeing an economic recovery, as Foreign investors flock back to exploit the Philippine's cheap labor costs with their sweatshops. Filipinos are not exactly thrilled with the idea of losing a big chunk of their land, but they generally accept it, since the violence has stopped. No more bombs go off in the streets of Manila, which is good. Economic incentives by the Government has led to the Filipino economy going up.

Korea detonates Nukes as Tensions heat up in East Asia

The Stalinist Communist Regime of United Korea is causing a lot of tensions in the Orient as of late. After veiled hints that it was going to invade Japan, the Japanese struck back by blockading Korea from the sea, along with some other allies. Korean attempts to break the blockade were rebuffed. Korea demanded that the blockade be lifted period. Japan and her allies refused, so Korea, to show its strength, detonated 2 nuclear Bombs, of a low yield, but to flex Korea's muscles, so to speak, on small islands off the cost of Korea. The blockade was lifted after Korea threatened to destroy cities in Japan, namely Tokyo, Kyoto, and others, with Nuclear Bombs, flung by SRBMs or MRBMs that ABM Missile Shields cannot stop, usually. That brought the blockade down in a hurry, and the present situation has Korea and Japan in a de facto state of war. The Korean navy is not sufficient enough for Korea to invade Japan, and Japan cannot invade Korea, because it fears the Korean Nukes. Korea, with a Military of over 2 million, has an estimated 40 nuclear Bombs, about 20 in the 1 MT ranges, and 10 in the 5 MT range. The other 10 are smaller. Korea said they would use these nukes against invaders. Experts warn China, japan, and Russia not to provoke this reclusive regime. Kim Jong Il is, they say, insane enough to kill his own people to stop an invasion. Experts warn the world that leaving Korea alone might be the best tact, or perhaps some espionage. Korea has also heavily mined all the waters surrounding Korea. No ships were lost on the Japanese Alliance side, and a couple Destroyers were lost on the Korean side. The situation remains tense, and millions could die if it is not handled properly.

Israeli Extremists demand Israel have more land

Extremists in Israel are stirring up trouble in Israel by starting the True Israel campaign, a campaign to reclaim what land that this extreme group claims is what is really Israeli, namely an Israeli Empire stretching all the way to the Euphrates. They back up their claims by pointing to the Bible, and experts agree that there are some veiled references in the Bible to an Israeli Empire stretching to the Euphrates, but that was a long time ago, in a vastly different time. But this group regards that land as being inherently Jewish, and is demanding that, obviously, that land be returned to Israel. They are being funded by a Jewish Multi-Millionaire Banker, and have started advertisement campaigns, and pressure tactics against the Israeli Government to reclaim what they see is rightfully their land. Few Israelis agree, because most Israelis are quite happy with their current land, but there is a growing segment of the Jewish population who is beginning to agree with True Israel, and suggesting that an invasion to get that land back might be worth the cost. The Iraqi and UIR Governments reject the idea out of hand, and are asking Israeli to reign in the group. But, under the Israeli Constitution, the Government cannot stop the group, which is also spreading their message to Jews around the world. This incident might strain relations between Israel and its neighbours, which have been excellent. Israel is seen by some analysts as an almost ally of the Muslims, which is a major change from when Israel was created, in 1949.

Famine ends in Ethiopia as China sends Money for Food

The Famine has ended in Ethiopia, as China unexpectedly stepped up to the plate, and send several Billion dollars to buy food for starving Ethiopians. Amnesty International praised China and the MCO in general, hailing them as heroes for saving the lives of potentially millions, and called upon the MCO to stop Human Suffering in other regions of the world, such as Korea.

anti-AIDS Campaign in China yields results

As the AIDS epidemic continues to claim lives in Africa, Asia, and South America, China has become what many claim is the world leader in fighting this virus. China is spending billions on information advertising to spread awareness about AIDS, and to provide free condoms, and other contraceptives. China also initiated a program to ensure that Chinese Hospitals are sterile, which is another way this virus spreads. China did not, however, initiate a program to insure that its intravenous drug users are using clean needles, and not spreading the virus in that manner. These policies mean that the spread o AIDS in China has slowed by quit a lot, and experts say that other countries have a lot to learn from China, especially African nations.

Tibetans start the Flower Campaign, asking for full Independence

Tibetans have started a rather unusual campaign in a bid for complete independence from China. They are sending Government officials and regular citizens flowers, of various types, in order to bring awareness to their campaign for full Independence. The Tibetan Independence Movement is asking that Tibet be declared totally free of Chinese control. China has done a lot to make life in China better for Tibetans, with freedom of religion, and a high degree of autonomy from Beijing, but TIM is saying that it is time that Tibet had complete and total independence. About 40% of Tibetans that the WNN polled agree with this, with 50% preferring to stay in China, and 10% being ambivalent. TIM has been non-violent, and they pledge never to use violence, stating that it is against their beliefs. Analysts say that it is unlikely Tibet will gain Independence, but there is a chance, if Beijing allows it.

Acadia becomes officially Bilingual, faces Oil Crunch

Acadia has officially become a bilingual society, with the Government passing that motion into the Constitution of Acadia. Bilingualism has long been a demand by French Acadians, and they finally got their wish. English Acadians don't care much. But English Acadians are caring a whole lot about something else, nd French Acadians as well, and that issue is Oil. Acadia has never had a truly stable source of oil, it flip-flops between buying from the USE, USA, and Saudi Arabia. this has caused fuel prices to climb to the point where it is beginning to drag down the Acadian economy. Oil Suppliers to Acadia are charging more, and the Government has been slow to react. This will severely hamper the Acadian economy unless something is done, and fast.

”Rose Revolutions” start in Albania, Bulgaria

So-called “Rose Revolutions” are occurring in Albania and Bulgaria, with many expecting such a similar movement to happen in Czechoslovakia. These Rose Revolutions, called this because of their peacefulness, are using lessons learned in the downfall of other Communist Regimes, notably Russia, China, and Vietnam, and applying that to these countries. They are basically composed of large demonstrations, but peaceful, as to not break any laws, of thousands of young people, students, mostly, along with some older people. these students demonstrate, and call the world's attention to the regimes in place. Albania and Bulgaria are being hit by these groups, who are calling for Democracy in those 2 nations. Albania and Bulgaria are among the handful of Communist nations in the world, and analysts agree that the Bulgarian demonstrations will have a better result faster because of the crushing poverty in Bulgaria, and the relatively weak regime there. Albania will be harder because that Government is more iron-fisted. Czechoslovakia is also very likely on the list of these groups, which should be fairly easy, given that Czechoslovakia already has quite a number of freedoms and the like. Romania might eventually be a target, but, like Korea and Mexico, that regime is extremely paranoid, and unlikely to fall without foreign intervention, possibly by Russia. All in all, these demonstrations are a largely positive sign. There have been scattered reports of violence, but it seems that these nations are wary of cracking down on the demonstrations for fear of international pariah-hood, like Libya.

DO NOT POST UNTIL I SAY!

Greece cracks down on illegal immigration along Bulgarian Border

Seeking to stem the flood of Bulgarian refugees pouring into Greece every year, looking for a better life, work, and money, Greek Officials have announced a series of tough new measures aimed at curbing the illegal immigration that occurs every year. This immigration takes away Greek jobs from Greeks. This policy is popular among Nationalist Greeks, who claim that this flood of Bulgarians is a kind of long-term invasion, but not among the left-wing forces in Greece, whom state that anybody should be able to come to Greece, and calling on the Government to relax Immigration Controls. The number of illegal immigrants has dropped by at least 50%, and will continue to drop. Civil Rights groups are calling upon the Greek Government to ensure that they are allowing legitimate immigrants into the country.

Argentina has major breakthrough in Hydrogen Engine technology!

Argentina has developed what experts are dubbing the perfect engine. They have developed, after spending many years, and many billions of dollars, an engine that uses Hydrogen Fuel Cells to produce electricity to power a vehicle. The Fuel Cell Technology was already known to Argentina, and the world, for about 20 years, the tricky bit was developed a way to make the hydrogen quickly and easily. Well, Argentina has done that. They did not release the specifics of how they produce the hydrogen, but sources tell the WNN it has something to do with advanced metal hydrides. Test Vehicles have been driven, and the results are tremendous. These vehicles are the most efficient of their kind in the world The first commercially available Hydrogen Vehicles are to hit the markets next year, and Argentinians are already lining up. If this technology pans out, the effects will be tremendous. Conventional gasoline powered vehicles will become obsolete, as Hydrogen power becomes available. Hydrogen does not release noxious fumes, but rather water as the by product. Argentina will revolutionize the world, if this technology works as it should. Argentina stands to make billions, depending how this technology, currently under Government control, is sold. Experts say it would be best for Argentina to ensure that these vehicles be manufactured in Argentina, and then shipped overseas, that would be most beneficial to Argentina.

Southern Thai States join Malaysia!

The Southern, Muslim-majority states in Thailand have joined Malaysia. They were literally handed over to Malaysia by Thailand, who had been battling a growing Muslim insurgency there for years. Muslims in those provinces seem much happier in Malaysia, and have stopped their insurgency. Thailand suffered a small economic decrease, but is now a more stable nation. Thais seem relieved to have the bombings and such stop, and Malays welcome more Muslims to their fold. This has caused some non-Muslim groups in Malaysia to be concerned that this will drastically change the demographics of Malaysia drastically, and thus reduce their power, but this has yet to happen. Malaysia's economy went up with this news.

PNG and Australia enter into negotiations about uniting!

Papua New Guinea and Australia have entered into high-level negotiations about uniting into one nation which will be able to better protect itself, say proponents. The proposed name would be SEAR, the South East Asian Republic. The new nation would be fairly powerful in Asia, and it would retain close ties to Russia. Australians like this plan because it would provide them with money from PNG to rebuilt their shattered nation. The negotiations are expected to complete next year, so the SEAR might not be far off.

Yugoslavia becomes a Democracy!

It is yet another blow for Communism has the Workers Revolution officially ends in Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia has now become a DemoSocialist nation. That means they are a Democracy, but they retain many Socialist parts of their Communist ways, like free HealthCare, Education, etc. This is a major step for Yugoslavia, which is yet another ex-CC nation to reject Communism. Elections were held, which were condemned by some for not being totally fair, but they were good enough to have Yugoslavians elect Tito to be the leader of Yugoslavia. A Senate was also formed, and the country appears to have smoothly transited from Communism to Capitalism and Democracy. Following the news, the Yugoslav economy went up a level, as Foreign investors started pouring dollars into the nation. Amnesty International has scoured the nation, and while reporting on minor incidents of police brutality, they reported that Yugoslavia is treating its citizens fairly well. Obviously Yugoslavia has some work to do, but the people seem relieved. Yugoslavians were out on the streets, celebrating, after the Presidential Election, and a Student Group who had planned peaceful protests only too happily called them off. Yugoslavia was spared the Rose Revolution sweeping Albania and Bulgaria, it seems. Tourism is picking up in this beautiful Baltic Nation.

Ivory Coast goes on Military High Alert

The small but prosperous African Nation of the Ivory Coast went into a state of High Alert recently, fearing an attack by the African Federation, African Confederacy, or the PRA. neither happened, thankfully, but this small nation remains gripped by fear. This will start to have a drag on the economy of this nation if it continues, warns experts. Also, some say that the Ivory Coast should form a close relationship with the USE or USA in order to be better protected against its neighbours. Ivorians say that they are nervous about being turned into a puppet by their neighbours, but they also say that they want to help their neighbours escape from endemic poverty.

Treaty of Allahbad ends UIS-Indian war!

The UIS-Indian war has finally drawn to a close with the signing of the Treaty of Allahbad between India and the UIS. This treaty ends the war, and brings things back to the status quo for these 2 neighbours. Experts think that the Governments of India and the UIS finally realized that they cannot defeat each other, and so are trying to end the war before they reduce each other to pulp. Many are cheering this as a victory for peace, as this war threatened to turn into a global war. India, as we shall explain later, is not starting to build itself into a superpower, and the UIS is trying to do so as well. Both of these nations, well, India is a nation, the UIS is a collection of nations, both of these neighbours have Superpower potential, but both have been so mired in bloody conflict they have not had the peace and time needed to become superpowers.

Indian Economy booms has India undergoes sweeping changes

With the end of the Second Indo-Islamic War, India is now entering a period of rebuilding. They have changed their name to the Indian Sub-Continental Union, and adopted a new flag, showing the Subcontinent, which proves that India is truly a democracy, the world's second largest, in fact. Indira Ghandi had wanted to change the name to the Sub-Continental union, but Parliament would not agree to that, so the Indian Sub-Continental Union was chosen as a compromise, or ISU for short. India, for the first time, has publicly apologized to Muslims for what India did to them. India has built a Memorial to all Muslims, closely modeled after the German Holocaust Memorial. Muslims in India are now legally protected under Indian Law, which is a first for them. Some Muslims who fled India are starting to return to their homes, but they still face some anger and discrimination, but that is starting to change. Those who deny that India slaughtered Muslims were given a tounge lashing by Ghandi, as she said, that denying the Genocide is akin to denying India, which is very similar to what German leader Wolfgang Droeger said recently. New Minimum Wage Laws are starting to end the endemic poverty in much of India, as suddenly families are making much more then they used to. Some companies have left, but many are staying, and simply paying Indians more for their work. Indians are generally very happy about this. Indians are not so happy about the new prison system, and neither is Amnesty International. Instead of prisoners sitting in dreary cells, they are now forced to work on various public work projects and the like. They do get paid, but prisoners are stating that their fundamental human rights are being squashed by this new law, and are appealing to the Supreme Court. Finally, Indhira Ghandi, the popular Indian Prime Minister, has released a book titled Vision For the Future: The Subcontinent 1990 which describes how she would like to take the nation. She describes India as being a superpower in 7 years, as living in an era of peace, stability, and prosperity. It is filling Indians with a renewed sense of hope in their nation and their future, and is a bestseller in India.

CU attempt to change names soundly rejected by Parliament

The Commonwealth Unions's President tried to change the name of the Commonwealth Union to Union of Progressive Stats, but failed. In fact, when it was first proposed parliamentarians actually laughed at the idea, which was quite humiliating for the President. This is just the latest in a series of gaffes for the governing party, along with the failed concept of joining Russia. Parliamentarians said that there is nothing wrong with the name of the Commonwealth Union. If it needs to be changed, perhaps New Zealand Union would be a better name, if anything, say Parliamentarians.

Union Party sweeps CU election.

The Cu just held their regular election, and it was the Union Party, the centrist party, who won. They won 65% of the vote, enough to form Government. The far-left party won 12% of the vote, and the far-right party, the Economist Party, won a surprising 23% of the vote. The Union party is firmly in charge of the CU, but they have some bad history, especially the Russia Scandal, and their laughable name change. CU voters seem to be giving them one last chance, but they are definitely losing support, and will keep doing so if they continue with their gaffes and scandals.

CU completes Space Station!

The CU has become the latest entrant into the Space Race, by completing their Space Station. This station is not large, but it is fairly sophisticated, and corrects what many feel were glitches in previous Space Stations. The CU is now reportedly working on a Moon Base.

Falklands Platform set to collapse: Engineers

The giant floating platform that the Falklands Islands build in an attempt to gain more land space is reportedly on the verge of collapse, say Engineers, which prompted its evacuation. Engineers and Experts have been warning for years that it is set to collapse, but the Falkland Government apparently did not take heed. It is now, with a mandatory evacuation. The Falklands has a permanent shortage of land, and has some of the highest real estate price in the world. These small islands are covered by giant skyscrapers, and they still need more land for buildings. The huge multi-national banking and technology companies here are feeling their bottom lines hurt by the real estate prices, and so are starting to relocate to places like the CU, Russia, and the USA. The Falklands has suffered an economic drop because of this, and experts warn they might be at the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. Something needs to happen, and fast, else the Falklands economy might soon be beyond repair.

USA accepts Mexican “dissidents” to prevent US-Mexican War

In a very unusual situation, the USA declared war upon Mexico, the Stalinist Communist Regime to the south of the USA, because they had proof that Mexico was running a campaign of genocide, which Mexico strongly disagreed about. Mexico did agree, however, to relaes all those “political prisoners” and “dissidents” whom it was “ensuring that they did not threaten the peace, or stability of the Mexican Workers Paradise”, and deport them to the USA. The USA now has about 50,000 Mexicans, mostly poor Amerindians and Quenchans from the South of Mexico, on their hands. Mexico has closed their “Internment Camps”, and allowed Amnesty International officials into the country to verify this. Stories are coming from these refugees of systemic abuses by Mexican Officials, but they are also saying stories of how they were persuaded to revolt and cause trouble by what they call “secret agents”, which points to the CIA or KGB. This has caused some questions to be raised in the American Congress and Russian Duma if this was indeed the case, but the Presidents and Intelligence Agencies in both countries are being very tight-lipped. The refugees are being taught English, and being settled in the USA.

American “War on Corruption” yields results as Communists win local elections!

In more news regarding the USA, they have successfully fought a “War on Corruption”, or so their leaders call it. Whatever its called, it is beginning to hit paydirt for Americans, with some internal Commission and Investigations finding billions in savings from the Bureaucracy. The USA also paid down part of its debt. In some surprising news in the USA, concerning State Elections, Communist parties, for the first time ever in the USA, have won some seats. In State Elections in British Columbia and Ontario, formerly Canadian Provinces, they elected 5 and 3 Communists in the State Legislature, respectively. This is not all that surprising, given that these 2 states are the most left-wing in the USA. In fact, Republicans have only ever once won a seat in BC, and never in Ontario. Democrats battle with Socialist and Green parties in those States. The Democrats eked out a bare win in Ontario, while the Socialists swept the BC election. In the recent Senate and Congress elections, both elected Democrats, but some say that they might elect a Communist or Socialist next time around.

African Federation new collapse as it loses vast tracts of land!

The African Federation, the once mighty African Empire is on its knees, almost literally. After its humiliating defeat in Nigeria, which ended, after hundreds of thousands of AF troops, shocked at what they were being forced to do, and with almost no morale, defected to Nigeria The F Army limped back home, where plenty more troubles await. The northern territories of the AF have officially become nations, at least, to essentially everyone but the AF. Russia and the USA, among other nations, have poured money and troops into these new nations wrested from AF control, what control they had remaining, that is. The 10 nations that have been liberated are Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Rhodesia, Gabon, and Angola. When American and Russian troops came, they found these nations in a very poor state, their infrastructure badly damaged, and almost all in near anarchy, with warfare and bloodshed everywhere. The situation is better now. Money is being poured into these nations, troops are stabilizing things, and separating warring groups, it seems that hope might be coming back to Africa, finally. Democracies are being established, slowly, but surely. Generally, the people in these nations see these troops and money as saviors from the AF, whom many detested, especially in the latter years. The great promises of the AF for a better Africa turned out to be an evil Fascist regime.

But what of the AF? Well, it still exists, comprising of Namibia, South Africa, and Botswana. It is now a Fascist regime, Hitler-esque in Nature, with the Shaka Youth Movement, named after the feared and hated General Shaka Zulu. He has absolute control. Propaganda is rampant, and the WNN is hearing horrific stories of men and women being conscripted left, right, and center into the Army, and the Impi, the feared Secret Police. The Government is only in control by sheer force, crushing uprising with gunfire. The remnants of the military blindly follow orders. non-Bantu people, which is a sizable chunk of the population, have been declared as slaves, and put into camps. Foreigners have and are fleeing the nation in droves, most nations of the world refuse to recognize this new regime. The economy, well, nobody quite knows, but it is surely in tatters. Satellite photos show of Slave Labour Camps, and what some describe as ethnic cleansing. We know that the people have tried rebelling, only to be shot point blank, and buried in mass graves. The AF is now the world's most brutal regime, but is armed, with WMDs, and over 500 ICBMs that Russia sold to this regime, for whatever reason. In fact, the Duma, after hearing about this, tried to stop it, but were to late. Russians are angry that their Government is supporting a regime that has been doing all of these nasty things. The AF is on its knees, and might or might not survive much longer.

Nigeria rebuilds after devastating war

Nigeria is rebuilding, slowly but surely, after its second devastating war with the African Federation. This time, though, Nigeria won, and the AF is now severely weakened. The invasion literally crumbled, as AF troops, realizing what they were doing, and hundreds of thousands of troops, as well as tanks and ships from the AF Invasion force, joined the Nigerian Armed forces, as the AF troops limped home, severely weakened, demoralized, and unsure of what is going on at home. Nigeria is rebuilding, starting up its Oil Industries again, and letting families move back home. Nigeria has a lot to do to rebuild, but finally has a decently sized army, and a navy. meanwhile, talks to join with Cameroon have been fruitful, and they are expected to join next year, and hold elections.

UIS, Russian economies take hit as Russian Companies leave UIS

Relations between the UIS and Russia continue to grow frosty, and then got very frosty, as the UIS ordered all Russian Companies to pack up and go home. Since many Russian companies had invested and were operating in the UIS, this has hurt Russia and the UIS economies. For the UIS, it just means that other companies fill the void, usually, but companies are wary of this, given the UIS's seemingly increasing radicalism, and fundamentalism. The Security situation in the UIS seems to be improving. Terrorist Attacks by an unknown group continue, but far less in number. The Russo-UIS border has also been sealed by both sides, and reports are that it is being militarized. With nobody allowed across, trade has taken a real hit. The UIS can no longer buy food goods from Russia, so is depending much more heavily on the USE, India, and the USA. this has also been bad for Russian farmers.

Massive anti-Corruption sweep in Russia yields results

Russia, like the USA, has started a major anti-Corruption campaign. They are using the KGB, the only “clean” section of the Russian Government, say experts, to go through the Russian Government, and weed out corrupt officials. The Russian program started by targeting higher level officials, and working their way down the tree, so to speak. The program has not finished, but several high-profile former Russian Government Members are going to jail, mostly from Regional Governments. Russia is also cracking down on the Mafia, bolstering their police tactics and numbers. The effects are not going to be seen immediately, but in 1-2 years, things should start being different in Russia, and different in a good way.

Chilean Dictator Augusto Pinochet clamps down amid calls for moderation in SADETO

The Chilean Dictator Augusto Pinochet has clamped down on his nation, suspending most Civil Rights, Liberties, and Freedoms, and making himself formally in charge of the nation. “President-for-Life” Pinochet has complete control over the Military, which in turn controls the nation. Reports of an uprising by the Machupe ethnic minority in the south of the country are being fiercely denied by Pinochet, although Amnesty International claims that a genocide might be taking place, and urged SADETO leaders to take a harder line with Pinochet. Calls for political reform in his country have been met with force, with demonstrators being shot in some cases. Chile is at a crossroads, it needs help to get rid of Pinochet, whose Fascist zeal is sounding a lot like Hitler, but, at the same time, there is not a huge amount of public anger against Pinochet by the majority of Chileans yet.

Colombia begins Armed Buildup on Panamanian Border

Colombia has begun a large-scale armed buildup on the Panama-Colombia border, massive over 100,000 troops, and many tanks, and planes. Colombia has repeatedly insisted that Panama is part of Colombia, and is demanding its return. Relations between Colombia and he USA, of whom Panama is a state of, have reached a very low point, almost to the point of war. Analysts say Colombia has no hope of getting back Panama by force, and less hope by peace. But the extreme-left wing regime in Colombia seems determined to try anyway.

Sweden gets rid of Military!

In a binding Referendum held recently, Swedish have voted overwhelmingly to get rid of its Military, and become the second nation in the world, behind Nunavut, to not have a Military. Over the next year, Sweden will formally discharge all members of its military, and will instead ha d a National Police Force, much lighter armed. It is expected to save billions a year for Sweden, and Norway and Denmark are considering the same. Getting rid of the military seems like a cheap way to save one money.

Right-wing forces barely win Finnish elections

In Finland, today, the Right-wing party has barely won a victory. They now hold a 1 seat majority in the Finnish Parliament, which is an interesting shift. This occurred after Finland tried to hold their 6th election in 4 years, and this time, it was a bitter battle before the Finnish Supreme Court, with allegations of vote buying and vote rigging bandied about by both sides. The Finnish Right-wing forces also used a vicious anti-Russian smear campaign to help win votes, and relented on some more controversial policy articles. Stability is slowly returning to Finland, as people, after 4 years of political turmoil, which affected the economy, has finally ended. Finns accept that the right-wing party won, and just want Finland to get back on track economically. Finland is taking a new direction, and is proposing that Germany and Finland, and Finland and the USE work closely together. Russia has been trying to influence Finland to join it, but this plan seems to have been dealt a bitter, and perhaps fatal, blow.

Civil War breaks out in FRSEA!

Civil War between Cambodians and Burmese has broken out in the Federal Republic of South East Asia. The jailed Pol Pot is said to be the leader of the Cambodians, although he is more of a figurehead, since he is being jailed by the FRSEA. Cambodians are using guerrilla tactics against the Burmese, who are much better armed. The fighting is not large scale, mostly small gangs of Cambodians planting bombs, and attacking FRSEA troops. Cambodians are suspected to be aided by Communist groups in China and Vietnam, and perhaps Vietnam itself. This war threatens to tear apart the FRSEA, which was a fairly prosperous nation in Asia. The war could destabilize the region, bringing Thailand, Vietnam, and perhaps regional powers like Malaysia, India, and the superpower China into the conflict.

Ceausescu stifles growing dissent in Romania

In Romania recently, rumors have been swirling of another “Rose Revolution” that is set to occur. A Rose Revolution, for those unfamiliar with the term, generally occurs in a Communist nation, where a student movement brings down the Government by staging large-scale protests, demanding elections, and freedom. They have learnt their lessons from Russia, China, Vietnam,, and Yugoslavia, and are now trying it on Romania, so it seems. but it will be much harder in Romania. Ceausescu has clamped down harshly on any kinds of civil disobedience, freezing Civil Rights, and terrorizing the nation with his Secrutariate, his fiercely loyal ParaMilitaryPolice. Some protests that occurred, an attempt at a Rose Revolution, were met by gunfire, and the official Romanian State-run news agency, reported that terrorists had tried to take over the government, and were killed. Well, those were students, but the attempt fizzled. Anyone why tried anything like this in the future knows that their future will likely be 6 feet under. Such is life in Romania, nowadays.

UIA returns King to power in Afghanistan

The powerful UIS marched into Afghanistan late last year, and begun a program of forcefully disarming local warlords, running pitched gun battles with them in some cases, in order to return the King of Afghanistan to the throne again in Kabul. The nation is now once again united behind their Kind, and free of the warring Warlords, who owned large chunks of the country. The UIS has made no move against nowr condemned the Opium Fields in Afghanistan, with which most of the country's income in made. These Opium Fields are used to produce Heroin which usually finds its war to Russia.

UIA crushed rebellion in South Sudan

In South Sudan, the fields, in some places, are running red with blood after the UIA joined with the Khartoum Regime in brutally putting down the revolt occurring by Christians and other minorities in the South of Sudan. The UIA first asked the Christian Rebels, called the SPLM, to put down their weapons. When they refused, the UIA simply marched in, and put down their weapons for them, by force. WNN reporters, fearing for their safety, have not ventured into the region, given the instability, but we have reports that the UIS, while killing anybody resisting them, were trying to be decent to the inhabitants of that region,. Regardless, long lines of Refugees have been seen fleeing to neighboring Uganda and Kenya. As the world condemned the UIS for the accused acts of brutality reported by Amnesty International, Aid Dollars from UIS coffers poured into rebuilding the shattered economy of Southern Sudan, along with many other places in the African UIS states. The region is slowly starting to improve

Tight race in UIS unveils surprising results

Elections in the UIS held recently have yielded some interesting results. Muslims turned out for these polls in droves, over 500,000,000 ballots cast, which made counting a huge headache. It was not a clean election, it was marred by violence, some chemical weapons attacks, and bombings, as well as some assassinations. Oh, and one cannot forget the alleged vote rigging, and all that sort of stuff. But, the results, most pundits agree, are accurate. Muslims were divided between the Republicans, a anti-Russian pro-Democracy Party, the Social Democrats, mainstay of the Reformers, who are more focused on Social Programs, and more pro-Russian, and the Islamic Unity Party, who surprised everybody with a very strong showing, as voters dumped the Environmental Party, and moved to other parties, the Islamic Unity, mainstay of the Fundamentalists, has gained a lot of power. In Parliament, the Islamic Unity and Republicans have formed a shaky coalition, so now a anti-Russian, pro-Democracy, pro-Muslim Unity, relatively Fundamentalist Coalition leads the UIS parliament. In Presidential elections, these almost precipitated a crisis within the UIS. It was extremely close between the Republicans and Social Democrats, with the Islamic Unity not doing quite as well in these Presidential Elections. When the Presidential Elections were pared down to the Republicans and Social Democrats, each achieved about 50%, and it was up to Afghanistan, emerging from Civil War, to determine the result. After 3 weeks of deliberations, the UIS Supreme Court finally announced the Republicans the winner of the Presidential Election, thankfully. having a Social Democrat President and a Republican-Islamic unity Parliament would just, well, have lead to political turmoil. The UIS has done these elections, and can finally move onto the job of governing, and keeping its organization apart.

Western Sahara, Morocco form Saharan Union

The 2 impoverished African Nation of Western Sahara and Morocco have joined to form the new nation of the Saharan Union. This new nation is poor, but better off then the 2 separate nations. Encouraged by the UIS, they are organizing Democratic elections expected some time next year. Thousands who lived in these nations before the Spanish invasion and occupation are slowly moving back to their homes, but they face a tough existence. These areas remain poor, and destitute, although the UIS is trying to alleviate that.

Germany dissolves Upper House of Parliament!

Germany has just dissolved its Bundestag, its Upper House of Parliament. President Wolfgang Droeger, in declaring the Bundestag dissolved, claimed that it was too “inefficient, and bureaucratic”. Droeger has also created a Deutschcouncil and the Oberste Heeresleitung, which composes mostly of Cabinet and Military members. They are loyal to Droeger, and can veto proposals by the Bundestrat, the Lower House, at any time, although Droeger, President, can overrule them. Experts say that this is Droeger tightening his grip to power, although others say that this will actually make the system faster, and less efficient. The German Parliament has been known for its ineffeciency and bureaucracy, taking often months just to pass a single Bill. Regardless, this doers represent a sudden change for Germany, and perhaps might mark a rise of Droeger as President-for-life, although, with his near 80% approval ratings by Germans, there is no need. He will easily win the next elections in 2 years fairly and honestly. Meanwhile the German economy started to take off, as German invested in its economy, and not in its Military and Industry.

UIA ends Civil War in Niger – by force

The UIS, which is apparently actually responding to crises in Africa, has put down the Civil War in Niger – by force. The UIS came in, and forcefully separated the 2 groups fighting for control of the country. They then organized and held elections, which resulted in a weak and shaky Coalition Government, but a Government nonetheless. The UIS is in control, and the Government is trying to establish its control, and gain trust from the people. Nations condemned the UIS for initially invading, but retracted those condemnations after it was seen that the UIS was not taking one side or the other, but actually making the situation somewhat better. Niger can now enjoy the benefits of the UIS's Northern African Fund in peace.

Mosques, Synagogues targeted in Europe Violence

Nobody is quite sure what started it, but everybody agrees that it is bad. It refers to a string of bombings that have occurred throughout Europe, targeting Mosques and Synagogues. Experts say it might be a reaction by right-wing extremists to the German President recently apologizing for the Holocaust. Others say that this might be a new terrorist organization, perhaps one with Fundamentalist Christian ties. in all, about 10 bombings were carried out, and they have Muslims and Jews in Europe worried. Although the violence has only occurred in Germany and the USE thus far, it could spread, and that worries some. German and USE police are investigating, and have arrested some, but have not successfully prosecuted them. anti-Semitism is at an all-time low in Europe, and it is not clear what effect these attacks will have. Pope John Paul II came out strongly against these attacks, denouncing them as attacks upon fellow People of the Book, referring to references to Muslims, Christians, and Jews in the Korean and Bible. He, and many others, are calling upon USE and German leaders to do something about the violence and fast.
