Ya, I know guys. I have just had an unusually busy summer. I have days off, but they keep getting full with friends, family, and chores, all of which take precedent over NESing. After work is filled with more family, friends, and chores. I am working on it, but don't hold your breath. I just hope I am not forced to close this from sheer lack of time . . .

Ummmm did I send orders? I just now noticed you've changed your nick to Goober instead of RealGoober.

Have a nice summer. :)

This my biggest fear  too many good NESes closed because of lack of time I really hope this one doesnt.

Psh psh psh... if one truly loves GM'ing a NES then one puts of a slice of time here and there and does it, and it becomes easy because you want it. (Like I'm doing with WW3- Starcraft!)

Goober's summer vacation does sound very busy though. =^_^=

My military is on high guard too... (I hope I get back my 36 eco. project!!!!!!). :)

Maybe those bunkers will come of use with a mild nuclear everwinter. =^_^=

GoobNES01: Fallout – Update 19, “The Tipping Point”

World Weekly News, December 31st, 1985

Germany invades Czechoslovakia, Poland, Denmark, and the Hapsburg Empire

Pundits had been saying that it was bound to happen. Many expected it to happen. This year, it finally has. Germany, who has been building its army, and popular support for its Fascist regime for years, finally lashed out at its neighbours. It's targets? Poland, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, and the Hapsburg Empire. The powerful Germany army quickly and easily crushed the Danish Armed Forces, and the Czechs, but ran into more opposition from Poland and the Hapsburg Empire. Indeed, seeing the powerful German Army crush the Danish forces was, in a sense, laughable. Germany has, however, caught the world off guard, after being so seemingly docile these past few years. The international reaction was swift, as nations around the world criticized and condemned Germany. It also taught many a lesson – enter into partnerships with superpowers. Poland had been negotiating with Russia to enter into a Military and Economic Alliance, but it was all for naught. However, this “OPERATION ANSCHLUSS” did not go quite as well as some German Generals had hoped. Yes, Germany did suddenly strike at its neighbours, and take a lot of territory, but Germany now has some violent insurgencies to contend with. In Poland and the Hapsburgs, an effective insurgency is striking at the German occupiers, who are struggling to establish interim governments for the regions. Germany also took heavier then expected military losses, but an effective recruiting campaign back at home seems to be working well. What surprised most is that Germany remains a Democracy. The German Government remains a democracy, Droeger has not taken over total control. Of course, his Heritage Front party remains firmly in control. Germans were in the streets celebrating as the Military Victories were announced. Germans remain united behind Droeger for the time being. Will they remain so, if or when the world reacts? For that matter, will the world react? The USE did not condemn the invasion, in fact, it seems to know exactly what was going on. The USA condemned it, but didn't do much else. The UIS and Russia did not react, of course, they are in a de facto state of war. It seems that Droeger has gotten away with his invasion. Now, the agenda must turn to post invasion. Will Droeger ensure that Germany remains a Democracy, or will he assume total, Hitler-like control? If Germany becomes a Democracy, will it be a USE-style, with each of the former nations being States, and their own Regional Governments, and one central Government? Many questions remain, and they must be answered, as they directly relate to Germany's future.

Benelux overwhelmingly votes to join USE

The small, struggling nation of Benelux has voted to join the USE. This referendum came after Germany invaded those 4 nations, so obviously Beneluxians were feeling very insecure, and wanted the protection of the USE. The USE's economy, already one of the best in the world, was boosted by the Industrial power of Benelux. However, this merger has left some in the USE wondering if the USE was taking advantage of Germany's invasions to take over yet another European nation. Also, as we shall describe later, some other headaches to the USE is the rising support for the Italian Independence Movement, and the split between Liberals and Conservatives in the USE.

Cold War between UIS and Russia starts

It was a war of Diplomacy, a war of words between Russia and the UIS which has led, finally, to this point. Russia and the UIS are in a de facto state of war, but it remains a cold war. Both sides have militarized their armies, but neither has crossed their heavily fortified borders. There have been some shells exchanged, and some small-scale shootings between the 2 sides, but neither wants to risk a full-blown war. So the huge armies of the UIS and Russia sit, facing each other, over their common border, both seemingly daring each other to take the first step. Experts say that if the UIS attacked Russia first, the more powerful Russian army would win, and Russians would volunteer in the hundreds of thousands to defend their homeland. If Russia invaded, they would see their economy decline, and a lack of popular support. Muslims in the UIS see the Russian Central Asia Republics, which are predominately Muslims, as being oppressed by Russia, and, although that is far from the truth, they seem to support their “liberation”. In fact, polls done in those regions show that only 10-15% call the Russians “oppressors”, and have any desire to be free of the Russian Federation. The overwhelming majority are quite satisfied being part of the RF, and its powerful economy. Regardless, polls done in the UIS show that around 80% of Muslims agree that Central Asian Muslims in Russia are “repressed”, and should be “liberated”. Clerics and Spiritual leaders throughout the UIS have been drumming home the message that the State of Emergency within the UIS must remain, since the liberation of the Central Asian Republics will require “all of Allah's men to succeed”. Some minor violence has broken out in those Central Asia Republics, mostly by hardline anti-Russian extremists, but it died down rather quickly once the KGB got wind of the situation. This war seems to be a cold war, with neither side actually attacking, which would draw the world into war. China and the Philippines have declared their support for Russia, and it is expected India might do the same. Nations which could possibly support the UIS are the USE, Germany, and the USA. Experts do not see the situation going into war. They say that the rhetoric might continue, and so might the angry diplomatic exchanges, but eventually, the UIS and Russia will overcome this dispute, and move forward.

Bulgarian Elections fail as accusations swirl

Bulgarian Elections have failed for the second time in a row, as the Election Commission was again found to be partial to one candidate or another as the votes were counted. Bulgarians have gone to the polls twice in one year, trying to elect their first democratically elected Government, but it has been failing, and most point to its neighbours as the regions. Yugoslavia, Greece, the USE, and Russia have all been accused of trying to bribe officials to make the Bulgarian election turn out in their favour, and the result has been, as some might say, sheer anarchy. No party has been able to win, and not have the result successfully challenged, which leaves Bulgaria in a legal limbo, and in somewhat of an anarchic state. Some say that an International Organization, like the failed UN, would be the perfect body to resolve this dispute, but none exists. This election fiasco continues, and it is the Bulgarian people who are suffering as a result.

Crackdown, executions in Albania lead to international condemnation

In Albania, one of the last remaining non-Democratic Communist nations in the world, the situation continues to turn from bad to worse. The Albanian Dictator has assumed absolute control, and, with the complete backing of the Albanian Army and Secret Police, he is a force to be feared. Executions of alleged “traitors” have been taking place on the streets, and tens of thousands have been killed. A Public Uprising is taking place, and Greece has announced that it is sending its forces in to “retain control”, and ensure peace. Albania is not so slowly slipping into a terror state, as the nation crumbles in the iron fist of its dictator.

Inspections show United Korea indeed does have Nukes

United Korea took the unprecedented step of allowing some of the first foreigners into its lands in a long time, aside from embassies, of course. Korea allowed Inspectors from Sweden, Quebec, Colombia, and Mexico to inspect and take some pictures of its Nuclear Arsenal. Of course, it did screen the pictures, but these still remain the first images the world has of the Korea Arsenal. The Inspecting Nations then fielded reports about the Korean Nukes, and found that Korea has 37 Functioning Nuclear Warheads, as Korea has been stating all along, and is building 3 more, for a total of 40. Pictures and other evidence prove this. Then Korea took the unprecedented step of pledging to freeze its Nuclear Arsenal to 35 Nuclear Warheads, provided Japan, China, and other nations provide it with 7 ecos of Aid, or the equivalent. Many were hoping that China and Japan would take Korea up on this offer, or at least discuss it with them, but they did not, so now Korea continues to arm itself with Nukes, while the world seems to idly sit by, and not encourage Korea to disarm. China has pledged some money, but none has come yet. Korea is rumored to be considering allowing some countries to set up monitoring stations inside Korea, to aid Korea in disarming itself.

China launches Space Station!

China has joined the nations of the world with Space Stations by launching its first, which is having a good effect, politically, for the Governing Party in China. China's abilities to work in Space are now much greater, now that they have a Space Station. Experts around the world are condemning nations, however, for building a space station, but not using it effectively for research, and for not sending probes to distant planets. They say that Space Stations are all well and good, but are a first step to exploring space, and no nation seems to be going beyond that first step.

Chinese Population Booms as President encourages Abortions

The Chinese population has reached the 1.3 Billion mark, and there seems to be no end in site. China is turning into one of the most heavily populated nations in the world, and it is putting a severe strain on the ability of the nation to feed itself. China is importing more and more of its food from other nations, like the USA and the USE, as its population booms, taking up more and more land in which people could farm to make more food. The Chinese Government tried to limit the number of children couples could have, but the Chinese Supreme Court overruled that on the day it passed, and the proposal faced huge opposition as well. Chinese cities are also becoming overcrowded, as the cost of living continues to rise. Pollution is another major Chinese problem, as China's population grows, and China modernizes, its thirst for power is growing more and more. Coal-fired plants, closed when China's massive Solar Plant came online, are being re-opened, and, along with more cars on the road, is meaning more smog and more pollutants to clog China's air and lungs. On the bright side, Hydrogen-powered vehicles are becoming very popular in China, especially when the Chinese Government started to subsidize them, invest in infrastructure to fuel the vehicles, and removes all tariffs and taxes on them. So China continues to improve itself, but many are calling for more, and China is still dogged by many problems, many of them old as the nation itself.

Chinese form the “Military Volunteer Unit”

One of the biggest criticisms of the current Chinese Army, organized into Battle Groups, much like Malaysia, is that it is simply not large enough. Critics of the Government have repeatedly slammed it for not hiring and training more Infantry. China has recently started training and hiring more Infantry, but there is another movement starting up, the Military Volunteer Unit, or MVU for short. This is a group of young Chinese who want to be part of the Chinese Military, but cannot, since China accepts far less Infantry then apply. This unit obtains no funding, but is basically to start training Chinese to be part of the Chinese Military. Critics have used this to slam the Government again by saying that a war is about to erupt between Russia and the UIS, and China must be able to help Russia. China cannot, currently, because its Military is so comparatively small, charge critics. The Chinese Government was not immediately responding, but many expect a major announcement shortly.

Argentina – The world's next Superpower?

Argentina is set to become the world's next superpower, say many. It's economy is red-hot, as profits continue to pour in from Hydrogen Vehicles, which can only be manufactured in Argentina, according to Argentinian Law. Argentina invented the Vehicles, and the profits from their sales, which are increasing exponentially, is making the government, and the nation, very rich, and is giving them more and more power.

Indian attempt to ban public displays of Religion backfires

The Indian Government, who has been so successful in their recent Reforms, and attempts to make India a Superpower, recently enacted a series of laws banning “public displays of Religion”, making India an officially secular state. The fact that the Bill even got passed was amazing, the vote was razor thin, and caused great controversy. When the public became aware of it, well, there was an uproar. In this deeply religious nation, all religions broadcast prayers, hold massive parades, and do other public displays of religion. Well, the Indian Government suddenly closed the lid on that, and the Public reacted. Citizens broke the Law in record numbers. Nearly 10 million hit the streets in cities all across India publicly disobeying the Law. After intense pressure, the Government quickly nullified the Law, but anger remains. Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs united in opposing this law. Legal Experts say that intent was not necessarily bad, but the interpretation in such a religious nation meant it was doomed to fail. This event has overshadowed all the other good that the Indhira Ghandi Government has done, like alleviating poverty among much of India, tough anti-discrimination laws, subsidizing agriculture, anti-hatred laws, a Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which Amnesty International recently said that India belongs with Quebec in the league of the best nations in the world, in respect to Human Rights, and many other things. India's economy has grown by another level recently, but many warn that Government spending must be kept in check, as the Government was forced to borrow 2 eco to carry out some of its great plans.

India and Pakistan start Peace Talks!

The conflict between Pakistan and India seems over for good. India and Pakistan have begun to heal their relationship, both by opening embassies in each others capital, and starting to allow trade and travel between the 2 neighbours once more. The process is moving slowly, but has been helped with the Indian Prime Minister, Indhira Ghandi being very public about healing the rifts, pledging money to rebuilt damaged mosques, and compensating those Muslims in India who were abused or had relatives killed as a result of former Indian Governments. The anger between India and Pakistan, and the resentment between Hindus and Muslims in India is still present, but is diminishing, and just about everybody agrees that is a very good thing. Negotiations are ongoing about completely demilitarizing the border, allowing total trade, perhaps a Trade Route. Talks of a standard currency, and perhaps an economic union are expected to be held next year, but this will be a slow and careful process. The violence in Pakistan is not aiding the situation at all.

Tribal Violence in Pakistan threatens fragile peace

Pakistan is a nation made up of various ethnic groups, and it is a well-known fact that hostilities, tensions, and violence can break out between certain groups. Well, In the Eastern regions of Pakistan, that exact thing is occurring. Minority tribes are taking up arms against the Government, and demanding a separate nation. Pakistan has responded by closing the region, and sending in the military, and many Pakistanis think that the Indians are behind it, which is hindering the peace process. The violence has dropped since the Pakistani Military went in, but Amnesty International is raising the issue of Human Rights abuses, and calling upon India to put pressure on Pakistan to treat its minorities fairly.

Oil, Natural Gas finds to fuel Bolivian Economy

Bolivia is on the road to recovery, after being “liberated” from its Communist times. Thanks to Argentina, its Economy is starting to pick up, and it recently had a stroke of good luck – in the East of the nation, large amounts of Oil and Natural Gas have been found. The Bolivian Economy is expected to do better after this find. Of course, Oil is not in such a high demand now, but, well, this will still have a good effect for the Bolivian Economy as the Oil will be cheap and easy to pump out of the ground.

Chile withdraws from SADETO, restricts communications!

Chile,. under the control of the Fascist Dictator Augusto Pinochet, is quickly turning into a third world state, thanks to their leader. Pinochet gained control as a right-wing Nationalist in elections held 6 years ago, but has since seized total control, after polls suggested that he would be ousted for being too strong-armed with his military. Now, Pinochet is seeking to remove Chile from the international stage, withdrawing from SADETO, and restricting communications with most nations. Pinochet has aggressively targeted his opponents, political and otherwise. Amnesty International claims about 12,000 have been killed outright for opposing him, and another 40,000 are in jail. Amnesty is also claiming a genocide is occurring against the southern Mapuche people, but there has been no confirmation one way or another. The only thing that is clear is that the Chilean economy is being run to the ground, and the Chilean people are suffering as a result. Chileans are being drafted into the Army, and there are rumors that Chile might have Nuclear Weapons, but no confirmations yet. Chile is reminding many of Hitler's Germany, and many are calling upon SADETO to remove Pinochet from power.

SADETO removes Brazil as its head, nominates Argentina

In a shocking move, but one that was long expected, SADETO has removed Brazil has the leader of its organization, and elected Argentina to be leader instead. In a very, very tight vote, Argentina came out in the lead. If Argentina does not accept, then Venezuela is next on the list.

Colombia-USA border clashes!

Colombia, which has long claimed the American state of Panama to be part of its nation, recently entered into a series of border clashes with American troops. Colombia has been arming the border, and recently moved some of its troops into an area which is disputed between the USA and Colombia, with both sides claiming it. American troops fired upon what they saw as invading Colombian troops, and a shoot-out resulted, which saw Colombia retreat under heavy fire. The incident has left Congress in the US calling for more troops to go to Panama to protect innocent Americans from Colombian aggression, and the White House issued several statements strongly condemning Colombia, which Colombia instantly responded with more rhetoric. The situation remains tense, and, to stir the pot, a right-wing insurgency has erupted in Colombia's North and East, who is seeking to remove what they see is a “corrupt Communist dictatorship”. Of course, Colombia blames the USA for the troubles.

Head of State debate grips the USA in controversy

Ever since a surviving member of the British Royal Family regained the throne, former Canadians have wanted their past as part of the Commonwealth to be commemorated. So the 5 former Canadian provinces enacted Laws to have a Governor General be re-instated, essentially making the British Monarch be the ceremonial Head of State for these 5 States. This raised a furor in the non-ex-Canadian states, as many challenged the idea, both legally, and morally. However, when the US Supreme Court struck down those Laws, the states reacted with their notwithstanding clause, which just made the furor even louder. Congress tried to do something about it, only to have their proposed filibustered to death by congresspeople from those 5 states. The situation remains one of hostilities, with angry words being directed between those 5 states, and the rest of the USA. The 5 Governor Generals have been trying to calm the situation down, but this is a situation that refuses to calm.

Liberals win SEAR election!

The left-wing Liberal Party has won the first ever SEAR election. The Liberals campaigned on a number of social program, as well as enlargening SEAR's defense capability against Indonesian aggression. The Liberals also plan to continue to improve the SEAR economy. The opposition Conservatives are demanding that the SEAR be prepared for war with Indonesia, which the Liberals seem hesitant to do. The Liberals say that the war will not happen if successful diplomacy is used, but the SEAR should be “prepared for the worst”.

Sinking of UES Lucky raises eyebrows

The United European Ship Lucky was sunk recently under mysterious circumstances near the coast of Norway. The USE is investigating, but experts think that a torpedo, possibly from a submarine, might have brought this small frigate down. 20 sailors have died, according to the USE. The USE reported another near attack on another USE ship, and the USE Navy has gone on high alert until this series of events can be solved.

Declining Auto industries in USA, Japan, Germany could hurt economies

Ever since Argentina started to produce her first Hydrogen-powered vehicles, Japan, the USA, and Germany started getting nervous. The reason? Sales of vehicles made by their companies, conventional gas-powered vehicles, started to plummet. Consumers are purchasing the Argentinian vehicles by the millions, there is about a 2-3 year wait for them, and for a good reason. Their fuel is much cheaper, and there no emissions make them very much in demand. The effects of this has yet to be felt that badly by the USA, Japanese, and German economies, but it might, and soon. Japanese Companies are starting to relocated to Argentina, in order to use the new technology, but this is an expensive affair, and some Argentinian Companies are well ahead of any newcomers. The effects of the Argentinian invention will be felt across the world, however, as less oil is needed, Oil companies will either shut down, or move to cheaper production sites, which might hurt some Middle Eastern and South American economies. Whatever happens, it will definitely benefit Argentina.

International Court of Justice created in Jerusalem

The ICJ, short for International Court of Justice, has been created in Jerusalem, the Independent or Neutral City of the world. The ICJ is an International Court, its mandate covers, literally, the globe. It is composed of 9 Justices, chosen randomly from Supreme Court Justices across the world. All countries are considered a part of it, unless they choose to not be. Mexico, Korea, and Chile thus far are the only nations to have opted out. The ICJ's first case was between Russia and the UIS, over charges that Russian Agents were spying in the UIS, and committing acts of terror. The ICJ did not find that Russia was necessarily in charge, but that some men had connections to the KGB, and sentenced some to life in prison, in both the UIS and Russia, and some to death, and others to various lengths in prison. This case was considered a test for the ICJ, and pundits agree that it passed the test with flying colors. Some other cases being brought before the ICJ is some Italian Separatists charging that the USE illegally violated Italy's Sovereignty by invading it, and some minor complaints by aboriginal groups against various countries.

OOC – In order to use the ICJ, please PM/inform me of whom you are taking to court for what reason, and I will, after collecting and receiving the statements by both parties, and using my knowledge of what occurred, deliver a verdict either publicly or privately, depending on the case. I will come up with formal rules later. In order to withdraw from the ICJ, and its jurisdiction, simply inform me.

First ever election held in the UIR!

The United Islamic Republic held its first ever election, and the Conservative Baath party eked out a bare win. This was hardly a model election, it was held under intense security, and reports of election abuse and fraud by both sides tainted these elections. But, observers note that with all the bribery and cheating by both sides, the result can be considered somewhat fair, since the cheating on both sides, from the Conservative Baathists and the Reformist Islamic Unity party canceled each other out. The Baaths, and their leader, Mohammad Muqtada el-Sadr, won, barely, and completed the UIR's first ever elections. The Baath party proposes to greatly enlarge the UIR's military, and to ensure that the UIR is kept secure. They also promised a strong crackdown on the persistent insurgencies in parts of the UIR by various separatist and rebel groups.

Fundamentalists win Turkish Election!

In Turkey, there was a very strange result from the elections they just held. The ruling Reformist party was ousted, and an opposition Hardline Islamic Fundamentalist party has won. The DYP won by a fairly wide margin in Turkey's Proportional Representative system, over the Reformist CHP. This marks a significant shift in Turkish Politics, and many say it is a strong message by Turks that they still are angry about Cyprus and Kurdistan, both of which were seen as failures and losses incurred by the CHP. At least, the DYP thought this, and drove home that message, and Turks apparently agreed with them. Turkey now joins Iran, the UIR, and Saudi Arabia as being Fundamentalist Muslims nations.

Violence between Arabs, Africans plaguing Chad, Sudan

Violence is breaking out in Africa, once again, but this time between African and Arabic Muslims in Sudan and Chad. The fighting is especially bad in Sudan, where the Government feels that the UIS will back it up, and allow it to crush what it feels is another inferior minority. After the UIS helped Sudan brutally crush a Christian Uprising in its south, Sudan is hoping the same will occur against Sudan's minority African Muslim population in its Western regions. The violence is mostly being cause by African Muslims, who accuse their Arab Counterparts in those 2 nations of discriminating against them just because they are a darker skin colour. An estimated 5,000 civilians have died in the violence, and the Sudanese and Chad Armies are trying to calm things. Amnesty International is calling upon the world to stop what it fears will be another UIS intervention that will see thousands die as the large UIS Army in the region imposes its heavy hand. The incidents are also underscoring differences between African and Arabic Muslims. African Muslims believe that they, for the most part, are being left out of the relative economic success in the UIS, and that Arabic Muslims are discriminating against them. In the UIS Parliament, which is dominated by Arabs, Africans feel that their issues are being left out, which is leading to what many say will be a split within the UIS, which has maintained a relatively united Muslim front for a long time.

Mali Government falls as PRA annexes nation!

The Mali Government has fallen as the forces of the Communist People's Republic of Africa completes its invasion of that nation. The PRA is now a larger nation then it was before, and has conquered a poor nation. The problem is that the PRA is also more powerful then before, and might go after the CU colonies near it, or perhaps its neighbours, Ivory Coast, the African Confederacy, or Chad. Governments in Africa are starting to invest in their armies to thwart the threat by the PRA, but the largely poor African nations simply do not have the capital to increase their military by a large amount. Meanwhile, the African Confederacy has announced that is is Mobilizing, and is drafting all those between certain ages into its military. No comment was available by the AC as to whether this was in response to the PRA's conquering of Mali, or to prepare for a possible attack of its own.

Political Issues grip the USE in debate

The USE is finding itself more and more polarized these days, and more and more embroiled in clashes of ideology. But this is not the typical debates and clashes between Fascists, Communists, Liberals and Conservatives. This is over fundamental issues like Abortion, the Death Penalty, and the rights of minorities. Abortion and the Death Penalty have taken central stage in recent months as the Spanish and Portuguese regional Governments, under pressure from right-wing groups, have make abortion illegal, and made the Death Penalty legal, the first of its kind in the USE. Spain, Portugal, Iceland, and the UK are generally seen as the more Conservative regions, while Benelux, Italy, France, and Switzerland are the more Liberal strongholds. Another debate gripping the USE is the extent of Federal Power. Some legal experts warn that the USE Constitution does not sufficiently dictate who has final jurisdiction over topics like Abortion and the Death Penalty, which might leave the door open for the USE Parliament to determine the nation's solution on these 2 contentious issues. Spain and Portugal have legally killed 5 people since they enacted the Death Penalty more then 3 months ago, and that is leading many in the USE to question the legality of this form of punishment. Large protests have been gripping parts of the USE, mostly in the more Liberal regions, against the Death Penalty, while some in the more Conservative regions are starting to pressure the Government to make it legal for the entirety of the USE. The issue is definitely not settled, but needs to be.

Christianity is close to uniting, say major Christian Leaders

The Pope, leaders of the Orthodox and Protestant Churches have made it official – Christianity will once again be united. The final details are still be hammered out, but WNN has uncovered what the world's Christian leaders are planning. The proposal is to have the world subdivided into different regions, much like ridings, and for each riding to elected a representative, much like an MP. This representative can only be elected by recognized Christians, and will be responsible for all those in his region. Higher-ranking representatives, possibly like the modern-day Cardinals, will be elected by these regional representatives, whom have the proposed name of Bishops. These Cardinals, which is the proposed name for them, will then elected a Supreme Leader of the Christian Church, of whom the name has not been confirmed, possibly Patriarch. The Christian Church will be located in Bethlehem, of which an agreement has been struck with the Israeli Government giving the Christian Church permission to built and located their main Cathedral, and offices there. The proposal is not finalized yet, but a high degree of autonomy will be given to various regions, with overall resolutions by the overall Church needing a proposed 2/3rds mandate to pass. Resolutions passed would not be binding by all regions, which will hopefully prevent schisms. The plan is to have a relatively weak governing power, whom would be mostly ceremonial, while keeping the existing Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant organizations and rituals intact. Construction is going ahead for the Bethlehem Cathedral, which is dubbed to be the world's largest, and will have an impact upon the Israeli economy. It could pump as much as one eco per year into the Israeli economy, from the pilgrims which will surely come to Christianity's holiest spot. Next year, the elections are expected to be held for the local representatives, barring any unforeseen delays. Christians around the world seem receptive to the idea, and many are glad that decisions by the governing body will not be binding, as this could present many problems for the Christian Church. One controversy already cropping up is the question of Mormons. Most do not consider them Christians, the reason being what most Christians say is false prophets, however, technically they are Christian. The plan now is that they will be excluded from this new Church, however that will be extremely controversial. Whatever happens, this new proposal seems set to go ahead, and will be a crowning achievement of the Papacy of Roman Catholic Pope John Paul II, already revered as one of the greatest Popes ever.

Italian Referendum to be held next year amid controversy

Italians are set to go to the polls next year in a Referendum, which will ask Italians if they wish to remain part of the USE. The Regional Italian Government has passed the necessary Legislation to make this Referendum legal in the eyes of Italians, however, the USE and the world are less certain. Legal Experts say that, technically, the USE parliament needs to pass Legislation giving legality to this Referendum, and it is not even being considered by the governing party who controls the Parliament. The estimated 45-50% of Italians who want to separate say that the USE does not respect their right to decide their own future, and certain comments by USE President Reagan just prove that. Next year, Italians will go to the polls to determine if they wish to separate, however, its legality will be questioned by all. The ICJ might be the final arbitrator of this potential crisis.

ex-KGB Officer gives damning allegations against KGB

A Video and several pages of documentation has been released by the ex-KGB Officer in charge of UIS Operations. At least, that is what he and his evidence claim. He is Boris Grusov, and his story is highly disturbing. He alleges that Moscow was behind the Nuclear Bombings of London and in Turkey, and that the KGB was behind all the violence in the UIS, including assassinations and bombings, and the Kurdish Rebellion. He has shown evidence to prove his claims, and this has only fueled the tensions between the UIS and Russia. Many around the world seem to be accepting his claims, and his evidence, but Moscow is fiercely discrediting this man whom they call an impostor, and has delivered mountains of evidence, most with blanked out sections, that show that Mr. Grusov is lying. They claim Grusov is nothing but a paid informant of the UIS, and never had anything to do with the KGB. Grusov claims that he has yet to meet with UIS officials, and is doing this because he could not stand living with what he did. Around the world, people seem to be believing Mr Grusov more then the Russian Government, but the impact of this is only really hitting home in the UIS, where these damning allegations are fueling anti-Russian anger, some say, to the point of anti-Indian anger at the height of hostilities between India and the UIS.

Fertilizier! Although you are a democracy now . . . using humans as fertilizier would cause a bit of an uproar.

And ya, the Update is not finished, although those should be the most important bits, everything else is mostly elections and politics. And stats are not done, ditto with the map.

Just wondering, the chinese population at July 2004 in OTL nearly reached 1.3 billion by 2 million off. And the living costs are still lower then in the USA.... :( I was just wondering and would like a clarification.

Just waiting for all that info from that certain someone goober, is it going to be pm or in the update?
