GoobNES01: Fallout [Third Thread]

I don't get Most Genocidal Award or anything? Ahh well. In your new NES I demand India in whatever which form it's in.

Come on Kal, niceness gets you knowwhere! You should know this. niceness is totally overrated! (Note I am kinda serious)

Sorry silver, you were more crazy rather then evil. Switching randomly between Fascism and Communism, and finally to Democracy is crazy, but evil.

And most of the techs I tried to make sure they were somewhat realistic. It is amazing how much technology there actually exists in the world that we just don't know about. For instance, Fusion exists. Sure, its not effecient, yet, but it exists. Ion-based engines also exist, NASA uses them. Cloning is quite advanced, more advanced then many might think. So while things might seem totally unrealistic, they are closer to reality then they might actually appear. Mostly :p

lurker's comment: Except we've been cracking at fusion for 50 years and haven't broken it... yet after near nuclear annihilation they do it? And generation copious macroscale quantities of anti-matter when no known sources of any comparable quantity are known to exist in the entire known universe? :p And cloning, eh. Not enough research on living entities. Look at what happened to Dolly with cellular degeneration. Not enough data. And ion-engines are only efficient over long duration scales currently, and for the forseeable future.

The degree of technology just seemed unrealistic after a massive nuclear exchange, even if it was one-sided. It would've been more like a technological dark age, IMO, and instead it became the pinnacle of civilization.

I guess the main thing I object to in retrospective is the anti-matter. Because that utterly breaks a game. Had I been in Storm's positions there would have been only one government left the turn after I got it (ICBMs are such old, pathetic steel dinosaurs...). :mischief:

Despite that, it was a good and interesting game to watch... though the lack of maps made it somewhat confusing.

It was very well balanced by goober, even with all my economy I had a maximum of a few shots with it and it took a very long time to have enough to do anything useful, and since I would need to have taken out a lot of targets it wasnt very good.

I was moving towards that though, but Goober decided to end the NES and asked me to help him end it, so I launched my plan prematurely.

Well, I do admit that I made some bad decisions regarding technology. I did learn a lot of lessons, though. But it was an Alt-Hist NES! My next NES, however, won't include the Nuclear War that occurred before the NES started.

And I am fairly sure that I always included Maps. Certain persons wouldn't allow me to not include Maps. *cough* ALEX! *cough*

I am amazed that this thread has not died yet. I mean, the NES has been over with for how many months now?

And I never did see Hawaii be colored Chinese yellow! :p You never added Hawaii on :p

My only regret about Goobers style of modding is that "realism". It is alt-history as you said with many cities being rebuikt from scratch and again there are the same patterns as there are in "undestroyed" world, same people, almost no account to the blasts....

Hmmmm, the UIS failed to get a mention...... man keeping 1 billion crazzy Muslims from killing each other and against the Russians was a lot of trouble.

Ohh, right, the UIS ... Well, to credit you, Sheep, you did manage to keep the UIS together for awhile. You faced many enemies, which were, pretty much everybody had a reason to not like you. But you did survive, and you kept your nation together for awhile at least. And you nicely solved the Israel problem, which I didn't expect.

Ya, I know Gelion. In retrospect, things should have stayed destroyed for a long time. When I do my next NES, I will have taken Micro Economics at school, which, along with other courses, will help things be more realistic.

For my future NESes, some nations, like the USA and USSR, will be challenging and demanding to play, which means I might have to screen those that apply for them, and not just do it by first come, first serve. We shall see, though.

I deserve the award for most amazingly stupid player. :D

You can say that again. You screwed up Australi for good. I mean, you had one of the most powerful nations on earth, and thanks to your stubborness, it became anthraxed like no nation ever before.

Yes, I am being deliberately mean. But it is fun!

well i nominate myself for "Player most determined to take a backwater country out of civil war, bring freedoms and reforms to it, and try and keep it's extremist groups from tearing each other, and the country, apart again"
-i need closure :)

I was amazed at the recovery rate of the US and Russia... also the nuclear radiation receded too quickly.

The updates were very descriptive.

Technically that was positive as i just nominated him for an award which he will most likely win hands down.
