GoR: A Thanksgiving Challenge

I didn't go rep either - there are only three happiness resources within reach (maybe you could get gems at the cost of early development, so maybe four) so rep seems like a bad idea with a happy cap of 12/13 the whole game.

Hi,

thanks for this scenario VoU, really my first time with the hardcore rel/prophet economy. Got 15 GProph in my cap by t248, no more will come in the near future. My 16th Prophet popped as an artist on T241, grrrr...

Spoiler :
So, there you have Capital Screenshot for the end: 15 points scored!

I chopped mids in 3rd city, parth in 2nd, every other wonder in cap. AIs were very slow, i think this donut is too green to get their early prod rolling, but why should I care ;) got philo a bit late, around 300AD or so, then the GP came knockin´. Expansion went well too, as an extra goody I captured a barb city controlling all 4 dyes, so happy was no problem. Got a cap of 17-18 in my important cities around 600AD (calendar) founded 3 relis: christianity (oracled), tao and islam later, got judaism as an extra, so 4 in the end for temple spam-happyness.

Cnagrats to 15. not there yet but no way im getting 15. glib hm replaying.

This was quite fun :)

Managed to screw up, I think and settle 1 Priest in Alexandria (was playing pretty quickly).

Also managed 15 in Thebes (for 16 total). Since I did pollute the gpp pool it was no wonder I also got a GE, and a GA, but overall I'm ok with that (less than 10% odds on either, I think). Also got a GA from Music, a GS from physics and GM from Economics (used for GA's) and a GS early by choice to get early Philo.

Attached save T242. No more GP coming up.

@euripides: How to you get this game with Buffy? I can't make it load, and it seems like I don't understand how to install Buffy under Custom Assets. Care to point me in the right direction? :)

@v8_mark: No, all peaceful settlements + 1 barbcity. I pressed the last 2 in. One north against Roosy (was a vassal of KK at this point) near the marble and mountains. One SW near the copper (Sal was pleased +10 with me and hated Sury + we were the big AP guys). As i pointed out before, the dye city NW was captured from barbs --> a bit of luck indeed. Settling the gold to the north was no problem at all (around 200AD), so I had quite a lot of happyness.

@bugg123: no buffy, only BUG mod as standard install. Congrats to your 15 points. well i got a total of 4 GA (1 from music), 1 GS (too late for philo), and 2 GE (one used for Ankor Wat, was a waste actually as no AI was close) and the merchant/spy from economics/communism. used most of them for Golden ages, but had too many artists, so i bulbed astro with one (around t235) and one is still sitting tight...

15 is really nice! Interesting idea: so many prophets, no time for a shrine.
I'm wondering if it wouldn't be more efficient to build a shrine for the three priest slots.

Me too. I would like to give this a go but my fastest speed may be 15 hours. Arghh! (I just spent 1/2 hour debating between settling on the river or the plains hill ... I know the hill can't be farmed.)

I'm wondering if it wouldn't be more efficient to build a shrine for the three priest slots.

Given that the target is "total prophets", not "fastest prophets", I've got to believe the shrine would be a mistake. If you are looking at 15 prophets, and you shrine one, you need 2200 more GPP just to tie. The shrine nets you 10 points per turn (base), so you'd need 220 turns after the shrine to make it pay off.

Of course, that isn't quite right, because of the various multipliers floating around. On the other hand, trying to get an extra prophet from the shrine requires twice as many points.

@VoiceOfUnreason
I came to that conclusion too. It is simpler to build an obelisk before stonehenge. AAR I settled the plains hill and built 3 warriors, 2 workers, 2 settlers, 1 obelisk, 1 workboat, Stonehenge and Oracle, and 2.5 war chariots by turn 71 when my first prophet appeared, priesthood came in and the Oracle was finished in 1 turn due to: settled prophet, two prechops and whip overflow. Uff duh! (Massive queue swapping while losing 1 warrior to animal.) Should I take metalcasting or monarchy? Got to stop and think.

Tech path so far: fishing/mysticysm/AH/mining/BW/masonry/pottery/meditation/priesthood.

Edit: Wish I could spell better.

Got my 17th on turn 250. Wars broke out with 12 turns to go but Sally used my AP to stop the war against me after 2 turns. Pacal beat me to the Taj but I didn't build any non-prophet wonders in my cap except NE. Ditto for a second chaser city with the Parthenon--no wonders but a ton of priest specialists. Only religious civic I ran was pacifism. Don't have a screen saver short cut on my keyboard. (Mac keyboard with a dual boot iMac.)
