Tony had to go, brown will not be so fanatical about terror and withdrawing civil libertys, but i hope cameron gains power, and cuts back some of the noonsense labour have installed.
I think everyone is so naive about Cameron. He's all image and spin...exactly why people didn't like Blair. His green policies are purely to gain votes....most of his party only wnats him for winning elections they don't actually like him. The Tories would most likely have been just as authoritarian in reacting to 'the terror threat' if not more. And they would never have introduced the minimum wage or gay civil partnerships...they as a party have always been bitterly opposed to these 2 ideas.

True, i accept that all partys and benefits and dgji

Don't worry Davo, at some point, Cameron's gonna have to come up with a REAL manifesto. Then he's screwed.

and what? Destroy the current skyscraper boom in London! Love it or hate it the labour government in the past ten years have help Britain climb up the financial ladder of commerce and banking. If you want to see all the good work of this government destroyed by the Tories, who are notorious for curving back invest and heavily taxing Commercial services around the city of London.

i'm sorry but Mr. Cameron would destroy what little Britain has.

yeah hes more trustworthy than Blair
More substance than Cameroon
and hes just better than ming

so therefore hes the best we have got

a lot of the Lib Dems including my self i talk to are very unhappy with Mings apparent lacklustre performances
Well he got the biggest cheer on question time the other night!

Ming's ok, he's very good at debating but not so great at getting himself in the public eye, but we allknow he's only gonna fight one general election so the lib dems should get behind for that whilst other MP's gain experiance.

I am somewhat negative of Brown of course but there are signs I could warm to him if he manages to carry out the change in character he is currently trying to do.

As British PM I wish him well and no doubt he will have his 100 days of honeymoon but I very much doubt he will be able to handle all the troubles that he is going to have as PM.

He really has been a Macavity character disappearing whenever there was trouble. He will not be able to do that anymore as PM and there are stories that whenever stressful situations have arisen he hasn’t been able to keep his cool. We will see how he handles the very much increased pressures he is going to receive as PM.

He also has a brain the size of a planet – great as a Chancellor but I am not sure as PM. He treats fellow ministers with complete disdain if their brain isn’t at least the size of a moon. When they become his ministers this just won’t work. I imagine he will be changing Chancellors every few months for example.

And of course the various current problems are not going to go away – Iraq, USA relations, Pensions destruction, Cash for Peerages etc.
And of course there’s also his obvious Scottishness and his coming from a Scottish constituency that will continue to be a problem.

As I have said before, how can the Labour party -which no longer has the moral right to govern Scotland - rely on Scottish votes to govern Britain in general and England in particular? :crazyeye:
Complete nonsense of a democracy we have here at the moment and IMO Brown’s biggest problem in the next two years – if he wants to win the next election that is.

Don't worry Davo, at some point, Cameron's gonna have to come up with a REAL manifesto. Then he's screwed.

The Tories are obviously keeping their powder dry but I hear there is one policy they plan to include in their manifesto which would prevent Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish MPs voting on matters at Westminster that relate to England only.
If devolution is good enough for S, W and NI then it is obviously good enough for E.

It is called democracy and this one policy alone would be enough for me to vote for them. Heck, I would even vote LibDem if they were the only ones to have this policy. :)

The Torygraph called it ‘playing the English card’ and I reckon it will be worth a vote or three from those of us who believe in democracy and fairness.

Your post doesn’t make much sense – are you mixing up the Tories with the LibDems? If there is one thing the Tories stand for, it’s low business tax.

And London’s current ‘climb up the financial of commerce and banking’ is one of the Tories main feathers in their cap. The boom there is down, mostly, to Mrs Thatcher loosening up the restrictions in the financial sector which started with the Big Bang back in 1986.

To be fair with Brown he has at least continued with the Tories good work – for example by keeping us out if the Euro.

Good soundbite, but you don't really believe that, do you ? I mean, genuinely ?

C'mon, for a minute there I thought it was MT using your username...
I wouldn’t have said ‘champagne’, but certainly pseudo-socialist. He calls him self socialist and then praises Mrs Thatcher about her home-ownership policies – in fact saying she didn’t go far enough. And he then uses the somewhat non-socialist words: "home-owning, asset-owning, wealth-owning democracy". Great words as far as I am concerned but hardly socialist.

As we all know, ‘socialism is dead; there remains only a few old socialists’ – and Brown isn’t one of them. :mischief:
