GOTM 46 - Pre-Game discussion

I am having trouble with the GOTM as well. I downloaded the mod and it apparently installed correctly, but I cannot load the save file - Civ III will not accept it. The save file is in the Saves folder. I checked the FAQ, but didn't see anything concerning this problem there or in the forums. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Thanks in advance for you time/effort

Hi, welcome to GOTM and Civfanatics :wavey:

1. Are you sure your Civ3 is patched to version 1.29f?

2. If you have Play the World or Conquests, did you launch the correct Civ3 executable? The splash screen must display a tower image and say "Civilization" in red and have "III" in white. And it must show Version 1.29f - GOTM Mod in the bottom left corner.

3. If all of the above is OK, is there any error message when you try to load the starting save file using Load Game?

First spoiler is usually up about 5 or 6 days after the game is released. So around August 21 for this one.

This is the first game that I am going to submit. I just reached the Middle Ages today and was interested to see where everybody else is so far.

Good luck in your first submission, shumble. Although I can't tell you anything specific about my game until the official spoiler thread is opened, I can tell you that I just finished it and submitted. Fun game. :)

Thanks. I have already done a QSC submission, but I don't get much time to play and have not gotten much farther yet. I am looking forward to seeing what other people did differently than me up to the Middle Ages. I already know some crucial mistakes I made though.

In Classic Civ the culture thresholds are constant as far as I know. Variations were only introduced in C3C.

Hello everybody. As this is my first post, I would like to thank you all for this great site. I wish I had found this site earlier, I have always been a civfanatic.

I would like to play GOTM 46, but I have encountered a problem. I have Civ 3 Vanilla v1.29f USA, working correctly (it shows the correct version down left). When I choose "load game", "gotm_46_civ_open.sav" an error message appears "Error loading file \Art\Units\eqWorker\eqWorker.INI". I have not such a file in my computer.

Is there anything I should download from this site prior to playing? If so, where?

Thank you very much for your help.

Welcome :wavey:

You need the add-ons that allow vanilla to play like PtW. Download and installer for the Windows All-in-One GOTM Installer - link in my signature. It's a 25 MByte file that contains lots of extra civs, units and resources. It will set you up in one hit so that you can play GOTMs, SGOTMs, or (with a simple file swap) random games using these extra goodies.

Let me know if you have any problems.
