Goz -10 Slow Motion is our Potion

we could actually trade for communism and espionage already usign the techs we aquired. I left it to the next player to decide about that.

As for coal, I was thinking to get it from the Hittites. Didn't make and turn trades with them any longer on purpose. We can attack them with our Cav/knight armies and all the other Cav's we are having/building. Should be possible.

As for Constantinople, raze and replace is what we can do. Byz is too strong at the moment. We need RP first to be able to do something serious against them.

By the way, I haven't seen KB active for a while, maybe graham could just pick it up and play 5 to keep this moving.

This isn't the self-going locomotive as I though it would be.

Anyone interested in playing 5?

Gamewise, we're obviously going from strength to strength. If we only could get our hands on that coal...

I have a save, but I can't upload it for some reason. I try again in the morning.

Then you can take next turn, Offa. It wasn't a skip, just that noone wanted to play. :)

Can say this much though, we're still alive.

3 days with 35C degrees and today they threaten with 43C  To play during daytime is a lost cause. My old computer doesn't take heat very well and I got a few crashes and also lost the turnlog.

Not much to do, sort out some pops in towns and change a couple of builds.

I have no idea what to do with Constantinople, I decide to abandon it. It's heart-breaking to raze a town with Leo's and Colossus.

So much money just sitting there, we steal Electricity from Hittites for 1100g and some.

Did some deals and got Communism and Espionage plus some gold and luxes.

Switch government, it'll take 8 turns and I have to figure out our cities, so they don't starve. I guess I play 9 turns then, only to even it out.

970AD - 1040AD - Just anarchy stuff, we lose a few pop.

Send an army to Nagoya to grab some coal.

1040AD - We finally become a Communist state and I switch cities to courts and libraries. Next player change to what seem fit.

1 scientist on research ta this stage: Do we want to steal, buy or research ourselves?

1050AD - Good news:

goz10coal.jpg

Typically I moved all workers before the attack. Nagoya has a harbor and we have coal.

Next player, try to get a galleon or two and some troops and send to Nagoya. We must try to keep it at all cost.

Cities are in a bit of disarray, sort things out, please.

Sounds great Gozpel. Japanese coal, communism and espionage. If we plant spies we ought to be able to steal techs much more safely now.

I will gladly play. Of course, as luck would have it I am up in sgotm9 as well so there may be a little wait.

hmm, I must be going blind, I didn't see therat's comment up there about me playing :hmm: I can play it tonight if Offa is too busy with sgotm9 (looks like he's still up over there).

10 more
Well if Gozpel can play 10, so can I:p .
Nothing happened in the first 5 turns so I just carried on. Not much happened in the next 5 either. I have taken a very softly, softly approach.

1050ad
Switch a few more towns to courthouses. I considered deals with Theodora to avoid a war, but didn't.She clearly has everyones money with a balance of >10000g.

ibt Hittites and Carthage ally v China

1060ad
nil much

ibt Japan and Hittites ally v America and China

1070ad
as before just softly softly. As many peaceful builds as possible and start to railroad with our meagre workforce. I am building lots of workers.

ibt Byzantines refound Constantinople close to the original site.

Byzantines start TOE: so much for that plan.
Hittites finish Bach's.

1080ad
Found Skannayu on east coast.

ibt Sumeria starts TOE
Hittites finish Universal Suffrage.

1090ad
Send a boat with 2 cavalry to defend our coal town. Have to leave cannons as second defenders in 2 towns to allow this.

ibt Sumeria finishes TOE (didn't take long).

1100ad
Byzantines are broke now and Sumeria has 11000g. Clearly Theodora has bought new tech from Sumeria.

ibt America and Hittites sign peace.

1110ad

break for evening

1120ad
Factory finished in Salamanca and finally start an Intelligence Agency build. Am itching to plant spies.

1130ad
Onnontare founded in a small gap.

1140ad
More of the same

1150ad
Kanaweke riots. .

move more workers.

I have played 10 moves, but really the game is fairly passive at the moment and 5 seemed too little. I don't think we have a force good enough to wage a real war, especially as we keep 2 defenders a town. We need to build railroads everywhere and have started on this. We have 69 native workers now [pimp] , up from 31 10 turns ago. It would be nice to have RP to speed things up, but I really would like to steal it with a spy and the Intelligence Agency is still 11 turns away.

I have turned us to almost exclusively peaceful builds. If we are to steal our way out of trouble we will need a really good economy and want lots of courthouses and markets etc. The Secret Police HQ (due in 4) will help.

Hopefully the coal town won't flip, and no one big will declare on us.

Byzantine and Sumeria are miles ahead on science, but hopefully once our economy improves and we have vet spies in place we can reel them in.

Softly is the way to go :)

Some rushed culture in the coal-town, would that make a difference?

Preflight check: We’re having a thunderstorm tonight. Unheard of in January :hmm: Apparently, a snow squall.

Well, I can slip in 5 peaceful turns before the power takes a ****. Well hell, we seem to be at war with Japan. Being commie means we’ll lose 2 pop to rush the lib in Nagoya (coal town) so I’ll probably just disband the ship with the 2 cavs instead. Will arrive next turn.
Ug, we have a lot of workers. I can hardly wait to move the all :D

Whats this! For shame, I find a sleeping worker in Gayagaahe! How awful! Actually, all the workers doing whatever it is that they are doing is giving me motion sickness :vomit:

IBT: America and Japan sign peace
We lose Ivory

T1: 1160AD Sell Salt to Carthage for Ivory, WM, and 179g.
Disband boat in Nagoya for 12s, dropping it to 3T

IBT: Resign peace with the Hittites. Sumeria doesn’t want our Salt anymore, so we lose incense

T2: 1170AD railroading. Get IA down to 7T by concentrating the RR stuff around the capitol. It’s now doing 36spt. Should be able to do 40+spt soon, even more with a coal plant.

IBT: Carthage and America sign peace
Theodora has sabotaged production in Dover (a factory)

T3: 1180AD Sell Salt to Sumeria for Incense and 2gpt

IBT: SPHQ completes in Mauch Chunk. Nagoya completes Lib, starts another cheap culture building

T4: 1190AD RR

T5: 1200AD ditto. IA due in 4T. We have a lot of gold saved up for steals (7236g +493gpt) so we should be in good shape soon enough.

Looks like this has come back to me, so got it. Will play late tomorrow.

Well, I do so love it with four turns to go on the Intelligence Agency and a pile o' cash in the bank. Softly, softly is the watchword.....with little cat feet.

The hapless Chinese and we thought we were backward....

They seem to have suffered mightily in war with somebody.

Then put the whip to the temple in Nagoya.

Then run some upgrades on cannon and our muskets to artillery and infantry.

Finishing factories everywhere and moved the infantry to the front lines with Theo. She has infantry exercising on the borders.

Income is approximately 400gpt so it is about four turns to the next careful steal. The Carthaginian fleet ignored Nagoya and landed on the Hittite spit to the NW, a rifle and a couple of maces.

Did not plant a spy with Theo as I didn't want to tempt her infantry across the borders. As soon as a few more grunts are in place we can withstand any assault she might make. The rail net reaches everywhere so I am not terribly concerned about Carthage and having the other two leaders at war with him will reduce their effectiveness in other areas. They will probably disassemble him, making Sumeria stronger, so getting ready for an invasion of Sumeria with more boats would be a good thing and we are going to need boats to put Theo down for the count anyway.

Signed a peace treaty with Japan for some money and had to re negotiate a luxury deal with Lincoln to keep the lid on the people. Some temples in the bigger towns may come in handy just in case as the trade situation is getting a little too fluid.

I probably overspent on upgrading the cannon and such but having Theo exercising infantry on the borders made me nervous with only knights and cavalry, warriors and spears in attendance for border watch.

good to have infantry :D

Well, not sure what the hell the roster is now, but here's my take on it
