You probably get the chance to finish the game, it all depends on how clever the guys are with their shipping duties. :)

I'm pondering a another 5CC game...on SID!

Standard pangea, 7 rivals and no barbs. Is it possible? It might turn out to be AW with only 5 cities or with clever trading, cheeky moves and careful planning...erh...something. I don't know if anyone tried this template yet.

Babs would be the CIV. (how many times have I lost with them already?)

Anyone here interested? We will have to restart a couple of times I reckon. I played 5CC a few times myself on SID and of course lost, but there are possibilities with strategies I didn't think of. We would absolutely need a cow and a river!

The good thing with 5 cities only, it will be pretty past paced. :)
 
sorry, only got to the beginning of 1695AD tonight before it got too late. Will finish tomorrow. Only the Hittites are left right now.
 
Preflight check: Open a 1700AD save, but get a 1675AD date. Check theRat’s log and confirm that 1675AD is right :lol:

Check F4, we’re at war with Sumeria and Byz, peace with Hittites and Spanish.

Whip a transport in Xinjian, then airlift Marines to the Airport on the same Island. Move up tank army’s to make sure everthing else is gone next turn except for the 1 tile island city.

DoW on Spain. Take Jaen, Logrono (raze), Valladolid (autorazed)

T1: 1680AD Take Madrid (Keep w/ Shake’s); Take Pamplona (keep, 1 tile island)

T5: 1700AD Sink a sub near Isin with a destroyer (4/4)
Kill a stack of units outside Seattle, then bomb it
Kill a bunch of stuff in Anyang, then raid it with 6 Marines (3 live) killing 3 infantry and we raze the city.
Kill some units threatening Leeds and Chicago
Bomb Emar and land an Army and a tank next to it.
Bomb Neodakheat again, but it seems that the Hittites have stacked a ton of units in that town. Need to move more bombers down here now that most of the Northern island towns are razed.

I have transports in the N, hopefully in range to pick up some tank armies and bring them south. There's also a tactical nuke near the capitol in case we wanna get mean (I guess, I didn't cue it up, but it just finished last turn).

Hmm, the Hittites have quite a force left: 42 rifles, 95 infantry, 58cav, 75guerillas, 2 settlers, 16 destroyers, 2 battleships and various transports etc. They still infest seven islands and have quite a large land area. It looks like more than 5 turns to me.

Investigate Iconium, the Hittites 2 tile size 1 city, a potential problem. It has 3 inf, 2 rifle, 2 cav all vets.

Reposition some bombers to attack Iconim next turn.
First attack v Hittites outside Chicago gives a leader.

Neodakheat has loads of defence so will attack Kummani instead. This is bombed and unfortunately autorazes, (no culture).

Malatya destroyed, which cleanses the Sumerian continent.

Attack Emar with an army without any bombing first and capture it (3 vet inf killed).

I think a lot of key units (transports etc) are asleep. I try to wake them all up.

The Hittite unit movements fly by (animations off for some reason), but they appear to have destroyed a large landing party on their mainland. A transport with an army and escort are gone presumed sunk.

Lose a transport to thin air outside Shanghai: presumably a nuc sub and this explains what happened on the ibt to my transport. Kill it with a battleship.

Destroy Nara on northern island.
Capture Hubishna, and the Hittites are finally down to their own island, although they still have one settler to kill on a 3 tile island. I bomb his defenders and capture him.



Neodakhat is bombed to emptiness then captured with a marine. We finally have a base on the Hittite mainland. I need to send a big force over based on how my initial landing force was wiped out.

A second town is built (New Gewanga) 2 further tiles in from the Hittite Beach-head.
An airfield is made on the oil north of this, and an invasion can really start.

Ibt
The Hittite counterattack was ferocious. I had foolishly rebased 16 bombers on the Hittite airfield, defending them with a load of mech infantry and tanks, but they all died, along with a defensive GL. At least the Hittite forces are depleted too. The ibt carnage took ages to watch and it wasn't pleasant seeing infantry and cav steadily chipping away at my mech infantry defence and then the soft tank underbelly. Watching 16 bombers snap in half wasn't great either.

Retake the square north of my beach-head city. Land some armies on the northern Hittite continent.

The Hittite force is now 19 rifles, 9 cav, 36 infantry, 3 art, 3 destroyers, 8 fighters , 2 bombers, 30guerillas and one flak. That is quite a bit less than half the force they had 5 turns ago. They may still be capable of some counter attack, but not as ferocious as the two responses to landings I have just had. We should be able to overwhelm them fairly quickly now.

They invasion is being slowed by the variant requiring 2 defenders per town. I don’t really like abandoning towns just to free up troops, but this would speed things up.

I admit I haven’t paid any attention at all to city management. I have just transported some workers back to the home continent to help with pollution which is getting bad.

This hasn't been quite the pushover I imagined. The Hittites have wiped out two invading stacks on their main island, albeit at some cost to themselves.

Their outlying islands have all been captured, and we do have a beach-head on their main island so things should be smoother now. It has been a very time consuming 5 turns.

Seriously, it's about 100 units left. Abandon towns as Offa suggests, to free up troops, if it's necessary. No holding back now.

Very well. I have it. I'll try and make this as detailed as possible for those lurking. I'll start play this after noon.
 
OK, here is the final campaign plan. Logistics will be the key to its success.


I'm thinking four turns to finish this off. RNG success will play a large role.
 
Start freeing up some units. Abandon New Gayagaahe. We have several units with movement available on the Hittite mainland. Use them to attack Samuha. Use up the tanks and Mech Inf, bring some marines to bear via an amphib attack and…


Abandon Gandasetaigon, freeing up two more units. Abandon Leeds and Exeter, loading those units on a transport. Find one or two unmoved free units and give them orders. And so ends the pre-flight. Eight Hittite cities left. 17 rifles, 9 cavs, 10 infantry, 27 guerillas. Those are the ones I need to worry about.
 
IBT – Lose a marine and a tank. Sends several cavs to the glue factory. And several rifles and guerillas commit suicide at the mussels of our mech infantries.

1730 – First I steal the Hittite war plan. Ankuwa holds most of the Hittite army. I use our air force to bomb Ankuwa and Tyrana. Use artillery to soften Kadesh and…


Abandon New Mauch Chuck and Isin moving those troops towards the front.

Load up our Marines and jump around Ankuwa to Ugarit. Our Marines go 4-1 and…


Abandon New York, Chondote, New Goigouen and Asturias. Use Kadesh to load some troops then abandon that as well. Start setting up for the second turn. Unload some troops next to Tarsus. Airlift a goodly number of troops into Ugarit. We should be able to repeat our Amphibious tactics at Hattusha. Ankuwa will remain the tough nut. Perhaps with fewer cities, the Hittites will have some support issues. The present Hittite order of battle is: 13 rifles, 6 cavalry, 22 infantry, 20 guerillas, 4 fighters and 2 artillery. The Hittite navy has ceased to exist.
 
IBT – Kill two cavs and lose a tank and a marine. The Hittites foolishly empty their cities to recapture those that were lost.

1735 – Once again steal their war plans. There are only seven defenders in Ankuwa.

Abandon New Akwesasne, Reading and fly their troops to the front.

At Hattusha, we have a bloodless capture, well until I razed it.


At Ankuwa, we make short work of the defenders.

At Tarsus, we lose a tank, but capture the city.


Set up next to Harran. Those three piles of Hittites are now gone. We move into position next to the capitol. The Hittite forces is now: 1 fighter, 7 infantry, 4 guarillas and a flak.

1735 – Hattusas, the capitol, is taken without a bullet fired after the air force removes all defenders.
