Otherwise, the usual going when we give Bugs some stuff to play around with. But he lost an army? That's quite fun, I never saw him lost one of those before, so it must be a first. :)

I was playing to wipe Carthage of the map. Well wipe Sumeria off as well. Plus I didn't want to recapture those cities in the future.

I've lost armies before, but usually because I made a stupid tactical move. Rarely have I lost one due to a flip. The variant brought that on, so it is working. I probably should have just abandoned it. C'est la guerre.
 
I guess razing has it's values, my point was only to make some civs a little bit stronger. Not that we need to though.

Perhaps we just go for domination and get this over with?

Then I bring Mursilis in against Abe for Mass Production, he gives furs in exchange to make up for the silks we lost when Abe declared.

Recaptured Edessa just before capturing Hippo, the last of Carthage's towns on the big island. I kept the Cathanginian town because it holds Magellan's Voyage.

There is a force building on the Iroquois island south of Abe's stronghold. And a spy in Washington. Sunk most of his navy off the Byzantine island and captured Prilep on the island north of the homeland.

Hannibal is exiled to his island holdings. But Gilgamesh is far from dead...He has 18 boomers somewhere int he world, don't know if they are armed, nor where they are. Four were sunk at the sub pens or in the waters off Agade.

The bad news is that the Malaga (a town captured from Carthage) flipped back to Hannibal while all but one of the settlers heading to re-settle his homeland were in the town. I lost at least eight of them.....

Stole Semiconductors from Gil so we can build some more SS parts, didn't start them yet.

It is straight on ahead bashing now. Bombers, tanks and artillery. Gil sends out the odd ToW and wounds a tank or steals some slaves, now and again, but that was pretty much it.

Losing 8 settlers in a flip, you just set a new WR, Bede. :lol: That is such a silly feature in the game and THAT cracked me up as never before. Geez!

I favour winning by conquest, a proper win.

At the risk of stating the obvious, there really is no need to leave either settlers, artillery or armies in towns with a flip risk (ie it is OK on the turn of capture). The new settlers are mainly to allow fairly safe spots for bombers to rebase, and the new towns founded should be sufficiently garrisoned to avoid flips.
 
If we are going for conquest, we'll need to get Amphib Warfare for some marines soon.

Offa is correct in that we won't need to keep many cities. Just a strategic one here and there.
 
I'll need a couple of days for this. It's weekend and the witches of hell is around again. (daughter and her friends)

I opened the save and the MM-ing was under normal standard from Bede, so I'll find quite a few coins around here. :lol:

No, I understand the task to just get through 5 turns now, so Bede is forgiven (but own me in next game)

Pre-turn - No need to change stuff at this stage, and I can't be bothered MM-ing. I have to hurry through this, it's the wife's bday and we're going to friends today.

1605AD - Raze Kisurra and Umma, take care of a stack of sumerian TOWS.

I forgot we're at war with Abe too, so I make some plans for that. 2 turns until that invasion.

1610AD - Raze a newly founded sumerian town. Then all our bombers fail to get rid of 3 units in Bad-tibira, that RNG was simply amazing.

1615AD - I'm so sick of Byzantines, Septum flips to them.

We learn Ecology -> Amphibious Warfare. We have to kill Theodora for good.

Another round of miserable bombings, we take Bad-tibira and raze Santiago.

The americans have lots of units in their towns and our 12 bombers hits nada, it will take a while.

1620AD - Raze Edo and take Washington.

1625AD - Take Seville, keep the city for now and sell all improvements for 235g.

Fail to kill off any units in UR, but bombed it down to size 4.

There are still units with movements, next player can figure out how to finish off Sumeria. It won't be that hard with all those arties and bombers there and 3 cities can be attacked next turn.

The American campaign can continue next turn as well, silly me took Washington and it's not even a coastal city. :rolleyes:

Amphibious WF in 4 turns, prepare to build some marines. We have a couple of transports on the W side near Byz.

1630 AD - For all of the effectiveness of our bombers, I think they must have been dropping pamphlets or something instead of bombs, trying to convince city residents that our cause was a just one, or something along those lines.

1645 AD - Probably took a couple of cities.

1650 AD - Sumerians are finished on their main continent. Just some island hopping and the Hittites left, so probably no more than 5-10 turns with carefulish play, maybe longer if we play as sloppy as I did. I thought I took a final pic, but apparently not. Sorry.

we can't even reach that city, these flips are damned

take last 1 tile city, but due to the flip, Byz is still around

autoraze Sumer city on that last Island and send over more units

stop here as we can declare on Hittites and I want the next player to be able to plan the strategy properly
