GozGram 1 - Hammurabi and The Code of Laws (100k)

Preflight check: Stop the worker from mining the wheat near Nineveh and make him irrigate instead. Imho, we want +5fpt here, not 4. Change citz to work forest so we get an extra spt.
Babylon changed from granary to warrior. Work a forest instead of the mined plain to get it in 2T vs 3T (slows growth but should time out nicely).
I think I’ll send the Babylon setter to the grapes so the worker will road in that direction.

T1: 1910BC Citizen in Ninevah is grumpy so I have to turn off research and bump up lux slider to 20%.

IBT: Babylon warrior -> settler, MM off forest and onto irrigated plain (8T both settler & growth)

T2: 1870BC

T3: 1830BC

T4: 1790BC worker finish road and moves to FP

T5: 1750BC

IBT: Germans building MoM

T6: 1725BC

IBT: Sumerians building ToA.

T7: 1700BC

IBT: Ninevah granary -> worker

T8: 1675BC

Germans building ToA

T9: 1650BC

IBT: Babylon settler -> warrior

T10: 1625BC Move settler/warrior pair into position on hill near Babylon.

Worker from Ninevah due in 1T. we should probably build another warrior down there for happiness, then go with the settlers.

Somehow, our turns are out of whack.
Not doing any research right now but that probably can change with the next city that will soon be online. Also, looks like we’ll have to attack Russia to get iron.

I might take a few turns extra to get us in sync :)

It seems like we have to hurry up to grab some land and especially the luxes.

Got it.

I was greedy and took 5 extra turns.

Pre-turn - Not much to do with 2 towns :)

1600bc - Nineveh worker -> settler

Ashur founded -> warrior. Gpt goes from -3 to +2.

Switch Babylon to settler.

1575bc - Russia boot our warrior, while they finish the Pyramids!

1550bc - Byzantines completes MoM.

We meet the Iroquois, no trades available. They have got 14 cities already.

Nineveh pop 4 and unhappy, luxtax 40%. Warrior 2 turns away.

1500bc - Not much.

1475bc - Ashur warrior -> worker

Scouting warrior spots light-blue borders

1450bc - Our gpt is up to 8, with 40g in the kitty. Noone want's to sell Writing for that.

1425bc - Vikings completes ToA.

1400bc - Iroquois completes the Oracle.

Nineveh settler -> settler. Send him to the coast NE of Nineveh.

1375bc - Wines are connected to Babylon and Ashur, worker is roading last hill to connect Nineveh.

1350bc - Russia demands 22g, no problems.

America completes SoZ.

Ashur worker -> warrior

1325bc - Elippi founded -> worker

1300bc - We meet Byzantines, 70g and 9gpt is only close to get Writing.

1275bc - Vikings completes the Lighthouse.

Babylon settler -> settler

Road to Nineveh is finished.

We meet America. We need Writing now, I check which civ is the smallest and cheapest, it turns out to be Sumeria which get our money. 9 gpt and 63g for Writing then.

Min research on CoL. Acouple of civs already knows CoL and Philo, all other civs knows MapMaking.

1250bc - Nineveh settler -> settler. Send him towards the ivory. An other settler is in place to build a town by the wines.

We need a couple more settlers out as fast as we can, then Babylon can build up pop.

An attempt to do an dotmap, I think we should try to get the light-blue dots asap, or something close to those spots.

nice turns :) looks like we're finally getting some land to call our own. i agree with the blues. based on the AI having MM, i'd also prioritize the ivory. 4 luxes will be nice to have.

That would be 5 luxes. The blue dots are next to silks and furs, plus we have a settler ready to go for the ivory. The settler near the wines could actually go further to grab one of the blue dots and we fill in with another settler.

I think we'll see russian settlers coming trampling over our territory soon. Ashur can start a settler after the warrior.

preturn: Nineveh isn't working on the cattle so fix that, making +4fpt and +5gpt.

IBT Anshur -> rax. We need a military town.

(1)1250BC: Nada.

(2)1200BC: Everyone has Code of Laws.

(3)1175BC: warrior passes by volcano eruption in Sumeria.

IBT Byzantines start Hanging Gardens.

(4)1150BC: We found Akkad to claim the furs (by mistake one tile off the dotmap).

(5)1125BC: Ninevsh grows to size 6 and we hire a scientist. Raise sci to 30% to get CoL in 21 turns.

(6)1100BC: ZZZ

(7)1075BC: Lit is known. No deal possible.

(8)1050BC: for some reason Russian settler returns home.

(9)1025BC: we can buy CoL but we'll get it in 12 turns anyway.

(10)1000BC: We found Uruk. We've secured 5 luxes. The settler should found a town next turn to secure the ivory.

We are 10-turn to CoL with -1gpt (hope AI wouldn't demand from us! Or we better keep a positive gpt). We may have a chance at 2-fer with Lit, but the timing could be important as doing it too early would risk not being able to exchange Lit and CoL.

We are far far behind in tech. I've put Babylon and Ashur on rax and we need to build some archers or horses to take on Russia. Pointy stick seems to be the only possible way of getting techs (besides selling lux, but we need Map Making to trade).

There is also a warrior fortified next to iron mountain. We could send a settler over there to connect it, but it may take quite a long time to connect home. Maybe we should just capture Smolensk.

Blue dots got slightly skewed, but who cares as long as we got the luxes.

grs, you fill in where you see it fit, my dotmap was only a scetch :)

I would prefer to slow down research, we have no military to start anything yet and we are supposed to start a war with CoL. We can't do that with half a dozen of reg warriors :lol:

ok, we're moving right along now! we're behind in tech 'cause it took us a little longer to get setup but we should be ready to do some interesting things soon enough. and grs, please wait for bugs ;)

I've got it. I'll try and turn it around fairly quickly.

Pre-flight – 1000 BC – Well there a few things I’d have done differently, but nothing that is critical. Like why do we have a mine on a wine tile not in our lands? :hmm: Cities look good. Builds make sense.

We are of course a backward people.

IBT – We have a Viking settler pair north of Babylon. Bismark kicks us out of Germany.

1. 975 BC – Found Eridu, start barracks. Lux goes up for a turn.

IBT – Nineveh: settler=>settler
2. 950 BC – Lux back to 0%.

IBT – Babylon: barracks=>granary (we can’t build bowmen yet)
Vikings complete Great Wall.

3. 925 BC – Not much.

IBT – Akkad: worker=>worker
The Vikings plant a city just north of Babylon. That’s a nice bull’s eye on your chest Ragnar. Good thing we improved those tiles for the Vikings.
The volcano next to Rostov becomes active and that Russian city might be toasted.

4. 900 BC – Lux back up for Nineveh.

IBT – Ellipi: warrior=>barracks

5. 875 BC – Lux back to 0%

IBT – Ashur: barracks=>temple

6. 850 BC - Lux back up.

IBT – Nineveh: settler=>settler

7. 825 BC – Found Samarra. Start barracks. That Viking city has expanded already, stealing our wines. I switch Babylon to a spear, wasting one shield. I think we’ll need to take care of the Viking problem sooner rather than later.
Lux back to 0%, science down 10%

IBT – CoL comes in. Select WC next. Research at 20% which with give us a +10gpt budget and WC due in 12.
Babylon: spear=>warrior

8. 775 BC – Run a block on a Russian settler pair.

IBT – Uruk:worker=>barracks
9. 750 BC – play with the lux slider again. Since this is where I should be stopping I’ll stop there.

After Action – Not much to pass down.

We probably want to either deal for WC and start building Bowmen or max out our research and get it in four.
