[Graphic Mod] Varietas Delectat v9.2 [civ specific unit sets]

Yeah, Achilleszero you are right. I realized that this is why they are like in the vanilla version.
Is there a way to let the "other modular native civilizations" have a axeman that looks like the dog soldier? Wich file to edit? Thx.

Are you talking about the Native American module or just regualar VD? If you are talking about just regular VD, you need to edit the find a file called VD_NativeAmerican_ArtStyleTypeInfos in assets/modules/veritas delictat/XML/UnitArtStyles&CivInfos. Find the swordsman entry and copy it. Then change the references of SWORDSMAN to AXEMAN. And then replace the "art def swordsman whatever" to: ART_DEF_UNIT_NATIVE_AMERICA_DOG_SOLDIER. AND DONT FORGET to back up your files first.

Thx a lot I fixed the problem: It was like you said, missing "axeman" in NativeAmerica Artstyle.

I fixed it this way:

<StyleUnit>
<UnitType>UNIT_AXEMAN</UnitType>
<UnitMeshGroup>
<EarlyArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_NATIVE_AMERICA_DOG_SOLDIER</EarlyArtDefineTag>
<LateArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_NATIVE_AMERICA_DOG_SOLDIER</LateArtDefineTag>
<MiddleArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_NATIVE_AMERICA_DOG_SOLDIER</MiddleArtDefineTag>
</UnitMeshGroup>
</StyleUnit>

I added the axeman entry and gave him the dog soldier animation. :lol:

Thx a lot!!!! :goodjob::goodjob::goodjob:

Well that is pretty much what i said to do, but whatever. Although you say you gave an axeman dog soldier animation, that is not what you did. You have made it to where the axeman is now the dog soldier graphic.

One thing though, if you have that entry set up exactly as you have posted, you are going to wind up with only one dog soldier and the other 2 as default axes. Because those early units are set up to allow 3 seperate graphics per group. Thats why I suggested copying how the swordsman was done.

How could I manually remove MEE from an install of VD, which files need to be deleted/edited? I'm on a Mac and while I've successfully managed to extract and convert VD+MEE, I'd prefer just VD alone.

I'd strongly advise against this - files are different between MEE and VD. Try with a base VD install.

Question for ya, is the technology in the game just because of the MEE add-on?

Its just a pain to re-do the techs when other people have techs in there MODCOMP also. (Well also actually promotions etc, cause for SOME reason they dont put them in the END of the old tech/promo etc and its hard to figure out what they added? (No offense).

I can't do a base install with just VD as the installer obviously doesn't work on a Mac and unfortunately the author doesn't make a version of the download that doesn't have MEE in it. You see, to install this I had to extract the archived contents of the installer and manually install from there. Unfortunately it seems that the default directory and file structure (which I did not alter) is laid out so that MEE is included, and indeed once I fixed the mod (OSX and Windows handle special ASCII characters, accents, return codes and such, differently in XML) and ran it, MEE was installed.

Thus why I need to know how to manually uninstall MEE. I cannot install just VD alone while MEE exists in the installer, it's impossible on a Mac. There are many files with a "ModernEra_4VD_" prefix but deleting these alone does remove it entirely. I need to know what non-prefixed files I also need to look at to delete or edit.

Additionally the default directory structure makes it so VD has to run as a mod, what needs to be changed to make it run in custom assets?

Hmmm, I'd like to have a talk with this author, seems like a really nasty guy...

Butttt, since you asked so nicely, I'm providing you all the files sans the FPKs attached to this post. Just use these and copy the FPKs to Assets and it should work.

Cheers.

Da.

They?? You mean they actually live? I'd seal the windows and doors if I were you, they might come in the deepest darkness of the night...

Gah, didn't click that you were the author heh. Sorry!

Those files were perfect and didn't even need any xml converting! I now have a working VD sans MEE and I am loving it very much indeed. Thanks heaps for that, very much appreciated.

If it's alright with you I'll put up a "How to install VD" for my fellow Mac users over on our subforums. Given we've only just got BTS (2 years late, sigh) we've all been pretty mod starved.

EDIT: Alternatively, mind if I repack it and host it somewhere in a Mac compatible version?

No prob.
Please go on, I'm happy if you make it available for Mac users.

ahahaha, cant stop :lol: Thx i needed that.

speaking of MEE. I like it. Are there any plans to update the MEE parts? I'm not quite ready for a jump to Quot Capita yet, where I think, all new things and maintenance goes, so to speak. Maybe poll how many folks are using it first?

Done. I've made a thread with the link over on the Mac forums of CivFanatics:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=337217

Maybe you could add a link to this on your front post or download page so more could find it? I love this mod so I'll do my best to keep the Mac version current with any future releases too.

I have just one problem with this utterly fantastic mod (which I never play without): every city seems to have what looks like a little pink plastic factory. This is particularly out of place in the medieval era. I am trying to work out what this is supposed to represent? :confused:

Pink usually means there is a missing texture file. You say factory, do you possibly mean a forge. Because I know some one found a pink forge in the cultural citystyles thread.

Why would Ekmek come in the deepest darkness of the night?

:p

Yes, it must be the forge as it's present in every single city on the map. How can I fix this?
