[Graphic Mod] Varietas Delectat v9.2 [civ specific unit sets]

Will there be an update to that one soon as it still uses Varietas Delectat v3.3, according to the first post anyway..?

BTW - I haven't yet tried any of your mods avain but I have just installed the whole Civ IV package again, having stopped playing for a while and then loaded...

Varietas Delectat v3.5,
Modern Era Expansion for Varietas Delectat v3.5,
along with
ActualQuotes for BtS
Unofficial BTS 3.13 patch

I have got your VD 3.5 on auto load each time the game starts and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

However I do, now that I have read the contents of it, like the way that the Quot Capita mod is shaping up...

choices choices.... :)

Why do you modders always make it so very hard to choose, especially the ones who are as talented as you seem to be avain.

Well done and thanks for sharing your hard work.

Wouldn't it be possible to display Renaissance era buildings throughout later periods? I'm sure it would, if you added the "ERA_MODERN" tag to it ;)

Could someone advise me on how/where to paste/add a tag?
I'm no programmer and I worry that if I start messing around with the game code and I don't know what I'm doing I'm going to royally fubar the game.
All I'd like is for the city buildings and towns to stay in the industrial era and not switch to the vanilla modern era. Modern era buildings just piss me off:mad:
Anyone else notice how the "Public Transportation" graphic of the little subway going in a circle around the city just disappears when the modern era changes the city graphics? Just one of many complaints about modern era graphics.

So far so good: I'll keep reporting errors as I encounter them. Avain is doiing the greatest job in correcting every error that has been adressed. When playing the Germans, the Icon for the Heavy Footman is incorrect. It displays the icon for the Archer.

There'll be an update, of course! It just depends on the Firaxis patch and Dale's Combat Mod update...

I'd suggest you to wait until Geomodder updates his mod, at least that's what I'll do.;)

Still need to include a number of buildings, mostly for the Native, Middle Eastern and Egyptian civs. Perhaps I better wait for the patch to come out as well before releasing it?

Great work avain - I really like this mod, in fact i always play with it; can't remember last time i played vanilla BtS; anyway there's no point going back to vanilla now :)

Since i always play CIV with VD, i would like to know if there's a way of making CIV always load immediately with VD, rather than having to load the mod after the game boots.

I'm not a modder myself, but i really appreciate when people with talent dedicate their time to make games much more enjoyable and share their work with the community. Anyway keep up your awesome work avain :king:

There is a way, or better, there are several ways to do so:
- set Mod = Mods\Varietas Delectat in your CivilizationIV.ini to let it load with each game start (it should be in your C:\Users ... My Games\Beyond the Sword folder)
- make a new shortcut or change the existing Civ4 shortcut as follows: open its properties, change Target to "D:\<your install dir here>\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" -mod= Varietas Delectat"

Thanks for a quick reply. I had no idea its so easy to do it. Finally i can get playing much quicker now. Thanks again. :goodjob:

This is a must-have mod.

One problem, and perhaps its just me, but with vd+mee+hungary I find whenever I 'quit to main menu' (as opposed to 'quit to desktop' or 'just one more turn') the game crashes to desktop with error message. Not a huge problem as it only happens when quitting the current game anyway, have to restart civ to start a new game, but any idea why this would happen?

Oh, and any chance of adding still more units to mee (jet bomber e.g. vulcan? early ground attack plane e.g. stuka)? Confess I just had a look at 'Diversica' and thought, "hmm there's some units VD could steal" (Diversica looks promising also, but clearly not as 'finished' yet)

I will check this issue.

Then you'll be thrilled to hear that in the next update all this and more will be in.

Out of curiosity, in which areas do you consider Diversica to not be as finished ? I would be interested in examples.

Well I've only had a quick look at it (and looked at the unit graphics in world editor thing, hence the request to nick some of them!) but one thing that made me think it must still be a work in progress was that the civilopedia comes out distorted (e.g. leaderheads all squashed horizontally) and with some blank pages and some garbled text.

Incidentally I've found that VD+ME crash doesn't happen every time. Either it depends on what is actually in a particular game, or its just my video card having problems and not the mod's fault at all.

PS, don't mean to offend anyone, just loaded it up and to be honest I think I judged it too quickly the first time, though I think I just happened to look at exactly the few bits that have problems.

All the following are in the civilopedia...

for example, the first leader entry in the civilopedia (akbar) is a blank page. Also, don't know if the squashed leaderhead image is intentional to save space, but it makes my eyes go funny.
Also, if you click on terrain, hill, it says you can't build cities here (unless that's a rule change in the mod??)
There was also some entry I clicked on that had transposed paragraphs in the text entry, but now I can't find it.
For air units the text in the top box doesn't fit the box.
The entry 'unit upgrades' brings up a blank page

Anyway, apologies for any offence to the mod maker (is that you?) for judging it too hastily.
