[Graphic Mod] Varietas Delectat v9.2 [civ specific unit sets]

One thing i noticed is the USA ancient and medieval units dont show up? Only the original standard ones do?

This was one thing I wanted to ask you Americans:
I know that VD includes quite a few what-if units, but the American sets for ancient and medieval eras are pretty much "Captain America" style, those units somehow don't feel right. What's your view on this?

Hey Avain, that are really good news. I am looking forward for the next version very much. :)

Have you considered some of the suggestions from last year? For example adding an early canon unit? There would be fitting unit modells for this. Or a MEE light for non-epic games?

Well there are three kinda the same USA units out there, one of the better ones is a remake made by Wolfshanze:

I personally really dont like most of the standard units from civ4, kinda boring after awhile, i like alot of variety.

@JustATourist:
Yes, I'm considering the suggestions, I even got some very helpful mails from RPG. Early Cannons I'm considering also, but for a non-epic light MEE - I don't have enough time to do it, so if you do, feel free to do so!
@strategyonly, SimonL:
Yeah, I know those. But to tell the truth, I don't see much variety among those units, kinda boring with all those blue and the star, so the only real reason could be that the vanilla is more boring, but there at least is variety.

ok the usa is a very difficult question for varietas because of the salad bowl(shoul they be black white or yellow?). Is someone have civ revolution and can tell us how firaxis make the usa units?

in other way it could be very cool if aztecs, incans and mayans idustrial and modern age units don't look like mexicans.
(sorry for bad english)

+1

Also, is it possible to have the Native American units be a mix of different tribes? For example, I know there are pretty complete sets out there now for the Iroquois and Sioux and maybe some other scattered tribes as well. It would be cool if the 3 models that make up the swordsman unit, for example, are each taken from a different set (Iroquois, Sioux, and Cherokee, for example). Does this make sense? Also, if the current Native Americans are like this, please disregard.

Cheers,

very good idea, after all the civ is not sioux or iroquois but native americans.
and don't forget to include the last version of ethnic citystyle in tour mod.

Thanks guys, I've missed the Civ community, too!

Right now I'm drooling over the unit sets by Bakuel, man, there's some serious quality to those sets both from aestethical and historical accuracy point of view!!!

Yes, I am looking forward to see them in VD, too. :)

ok for bakuel units, they are pretty cool exept the new jaguar warrior that i don't like. The vanilla jaguar warriors are sooo cooool, they are one of the best unit in the game(graphically).

Yeah but Bakuel's is more accurate. But to each his own.

I was just wondering where the newest Ethnic Citystyles are (I can't seem to find them) because I wanted to integrate that into my personal mod. And I can't wait to see what you do in the new edition of VD!

I have a suggestion though; I think you should avoid using Carthaginian/Punic units for the Spanish early set. Mainly because it makes Carthage more diverse and there are other Spanish units out there. I'd also advise you do the same for countries like Germany, England, France etc. so they don't share the same units. I think the variety is better than historic accuracy. I mean civilization isn't really historically accurate anyway, so why try to make it that way?

Oh yeah, and as an American I agree with strategyonly; let's use the American set. Plus, if you want, I can get you an American cannon, cuirassier, and musketman if you need them.

It's very good to see you back avian and I'm glad you like the new units! :D

@-Perceval-, as The Capo stated, it's all a matter of taste. That unit was actually requested to go with the rest of my Aztec set.

In my personally opinion, the vanilla jaguar unit while very cool looked more like an Mayan unit with all of it's feathers. Another oddity is it's jungle/forests bonus, the Aztec empire was centered around the valley of Mexico. The Mayans live in the jungle, the Aztecs don't.

But I digress, whichever unit avian chooses will look good regardless.
