Graphics Modification Requests Thread

Yes I have , but I did a little experiment , I deleted the 2 buddhist icons from the original set of religions in both gamefonts and game fonts 75 , even their alpha channels(I backed up the original).

The buddhist icons now don't show for the city , but they show for everything else , so this has lead me to believe it's not a gamefonts problem.

Do the religion icons in the religion advisor screen work?

 that's completly strange.
Alpha channels of these pictures are okay?

Okay, a bit other guessing:
Do you have in the filename of the artfile or in the path to it a space?
Because this can cause problems with re-sizing pictures (the just don't appear) in some special cases (e.g. promotions. Don't know, if there's anything more).

Yes I didn't expect the experiment to work but it did as I needed to know if the problem had anything to do with gamefont and gamefont 75. All the buddhist icons showed up where they belong except over the city even after I deleted them and their alphas from both gamefonts.

So this may mean that something else governs if the religion will be shown next your civ's leadername to indicate that it is their state religion , this is the problem I'm having with my newly added religions. Everything works but when I chose to make them my state religion they don't show up next to my leadername , the religions will appear in my cities but not next to my leaders' name as my state religion.

I will check to see if my artfiles are in order.

Some friends and I are in the process of building a pre-European New Zealand mod. However, none of us are any good with graphics. If anyone is keen to help out on the graphics side of things, please send me a message. It's quite a big overhaul, so there's lots we need. For example, we'll need new:

Leader Animations
Units
Resources
Buildings

As I said, if anyone is interested in helping with this in any way, please message me. We'll all be extremely grateful...

All I can really say about this is that there is a good Polynesian unit set which features a lot of Maori-styled units, particularly from the Musket wars. As far as the rest goes I don't know, there may or may not be a Hone Heke LH in the works but htat would basically be it.

You guess it, but it is not in this way.
Many people (including me) have added religions to civ, and i can say, there's nothing else, which has an effect on the appearance.
-> :dunno: no idea, where the problem could be.

A while ago someone uploaded a dds file for the future era, so that I could seperate the picture used from the modern era (currently when you enter the future era it pops up a picture of Soren's watch, identical to the picture used in the modern era). The picture is good, but I need to have something that screams internet. I plan to rename the future era to Information Era for starters, as that makes more sense, and also the defining feature that separates the prior era from our own is the Internet; an invention that has had a truly revolutionary effect on human society. Could someone add in something like Google in the background, or just something that brings some sort of imagery of the internet (I don't know maybe cute kittens would be better, whatever the artist thinks would work). Also feel free to completely change the current picture I have, I'm not attached to it in any way, it's just all I have. Basically what I need is an image that intuitively shows the player they have entered the information age (with the internet being the defining invention of the information age), like the other era pictures that pop up when you enter a new era. Picture attached.

I'm on it.

EDIT: Wait, you want me to add something concerning the internet to this image or make a whole new one?

...you want me to add something concerning the internet to this image or make a whole new one?

Whatever you prefer. Best would be to make an image for the Information/Future era that is good enough to place in your own mod.

That is probably what I'll do, although I am not sure what you want. Is the image I posted too busy or what would you change on it? You can be totally honest about it because I just threw it together as an example.

EDIT: I never really liked that all of the era markers looked the same. I figured it'd be something like marble for the classical era, parchment or a tapestry for the Medieval era, some type of brass or steel for the industrial era, and maybe printed computer paper or even just digitized for the modern/future eras. Although this would require a whole revamp if I were to do that and is more than likely well beyond my capabilities.

The one you posted does not look good. The computer with the text internet in it just does not fit. In the current picture the background has iconic imagery such as a piece of a DNA molecule. It's subtle though, it doesn't just shout GENETICS in the corner of the picture.

As I said though, I'm not at all attached to the uploaded picture. Make a whole new one if you feel it would look better. All I want is a picture that will seamlessly flow with the other era pictures used in Civ, and that, like the other era pictures, presents imagery that intuitively shows the user they have entered the information/future age.

As an example, look at the faded segment of DNA. A way to apply internet imagery in a similar style would be to add the Wikipedia icon faded and offset on the upper right side of the screen, just like the DNA segment. Also a picture of a PC, again faded and not bold, with a YouTube screen with a picture of a kitten doing something comical would also work. Think subtle, yet immediately recognizable.

I asked for a picture for the information age a while ago, and the current one is all I got. Personally though I'd be happy with just a background picture of the Wikipedia logo in a Firefox browser screen that was faded and done in the same style as the other era pictures. I think Wikipedia itself clearly represents the information age in a coherent and intuitively recognizable way.

Also Capo please remember you said this:
You can be totally honest about it because I just threw it together as an example.
Which is why I was direct about my dislike of your uploaded image. Had you not made this statement I would have been more polite in my critique. I just take such statements to mean "please forgoe the pleasantries and just say directly and concisely your problems/concerns"; which is how I replied.

Don't get me wrong, I am not upset or offended at all. I can understand why you wouldn't like it, and I honestly don't like it/wouldn't use it myself. I just tried to get as close to what you wanted and obviously fell short. I just can't really do much better (I tried a couple of times) that's all. My apologies were sincere, there was no backhandedness or passive-aggression intended at all. :goodjob:

There are also religion buttons in assets/art/interface/buttons/religions.

'interface' lets me think that everything under it is for the gamescreen itself.
And there's a civics_civilizations_religions_atlas.dds file under assets/art/interface/buttons.
Mind you, that's in the vanilla civ4 folderstructure. BtS still refers to a lot of art there.

Now I have a question/request of my own for the Cultural Citystyles graphics mod:

Did anybody ever made a medieval tournament graphic? I would like to have one as a colosseum replacement for the European civs. I would be happy with a more medieval and colorful retexturing of the military encampment graphic in Warlords...
