Graphics Modification Requests Thread

Let me know if you need help reskinning that jousting arena Geo, I think the pink is too similar to the missing texture color. Anyway I have a few requests.

Could someone make any of these images for me please?

Would any artist be willing to make an icon for RevolutionDCM?

I'm currently testing a new installer, and need an icon for RevDCM, as it's the mod I'm testing the script with. Also RevDCM will have an installer for it in future releases, and thus needs an icon. Would greatly appreciate it.

Which sizes of an icon do you need?

Also, what do you want to see there? Will plain text work, or you want some iconic images?

P.S. Yeah yeah, those are bad. Anyway, I am going to post something better. Also the text is not needed, right? Letters take too much space in the icon, so there can't be an interesting image... Thus:

1) An earth on fire:

2) A "revolution" fist:

Some pixel art here.

P.P.S. I like fist the most.

Awesome Deon. Right now I'm using your old icon you made for LoR for the testing installers, you can check out how it looks by downloading one (RevDCM is small, about 10MB) of the installers found here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=8702697&postcount=2344

It actually works pretty well. However if you're still interested in making a new one, that would be cool. glider and jdog5000, the main developers of RevDCM, have stated a couple of times that Che Guevara is the "Symbol of the Mod", so if you want to make something better then what I am currently using, Che is probably the image to use. Also it would be good to have the letters CIV in the icon somewhere, a perfect use of the C I V letters can be seen in the current LoR icon.

Thanks again for grabbing the request.

Please make them all. The more Civ Icons the better. The more potential that they can be used for mods and by those of us that like icon modification...

That's awesome deon. I will definatly use that, or anything you make that looks similar in the next RevDCM update. One request though. In the current LoR icon it automatically scales, and if you look at it in the GIMP it has like 20 images on top of each other, it's hard to explain, without actually seeing it. Could you possibly make the RevDCM icon be like that? I'm going to upload the LoR icon so you can see what I'm talking about.

Thanks Deon, once RevDCM 2.62 is released, this will be the icon for it :)

I have a request for a leader background to be edited. This is the background I plan on using for my new version of Solomon (which I hope to release soon), I was wondering if anyone could do me a favor and add the candle-light/fire effect from Ambrox' Dido BG to the Candelabra/Menorah and a nice bonus would be to add some type of smoke effect (I guess the same one that appears on the lumbermill tile improvement) to that thing in the background with the smoke coming out.

I think this would really make the leaderhead look good, so I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me out with this. I'll probably release the LH before this is finished, but if anyone does this I would quickly update it. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Obviously this is just the background dds file, so I'd need these effects to look real, which would require a new background nif.

Apologies if this is the wrong place for this, but I'm planning on developing an addon for several new corporations and, while I can code, I am a terrible artist. There are four which I would like to see icons, executives and HQs for:

Bluelock Industries
(A big, blue semiitalicised font with a greenish-blue globe in the background, possibly combined with the fictional Starkwood company's logo on 24:
Spoiler :
Starkwood.jpg

(Executive unit should have black tie)

Consolidated Energy (Combine the font of General Electric or a close equivalent with a stylised smokestack background, like in this image:
smokestack_logo_reversed_1_-237x204.jpg

(Executive unit should have brown tie)

Datatech Global (Combine the font of the Unix logo with a white Microsoft like background and a stylised computer logo, with the text in the screen)
(Executive unit should have white tie)

GigaSharer (Have several computers with dotted lines going to a center marked "GigaSharer", in a font like that of the Napster, BitTorrent or Limewire logos)
(Executive unit should have grey tie)

For a while now I've been interested in working on an interplanetary conversion mod - instead of all the action taking place on a single planet or on an abstract "systems" level like Final Frontier; this would have a number of circular land-terrain continents as planets, separated by a "sea" of Space terrain as replacement for Ocean. Though I'd started this in Civ4, there is now some interest in developing an interplanetary colonization mod using Civ4Colonization as a base.

I've been stuck on trying to create a nice-looking space terrain replacement for the default Ocean and Coast terrain, since I can't figure out how to reskin it and remove the default wave animations (this was clearly done well in Final Frontier, and could hopefully be very easy to port over for someone with more graphics knowledge than me). If you think you might be able to achieve something like this, please PM me, since a decent Space terrain would open up great possibilities for a lot of scifi mods. Thanks a lot in advance for any help! :please::D

Why do you not just turn the pictures in buttons?

I hope, you know, that there's already a mod like this for civ4, the Future mod.

since I can't figure out how to reskin it and remove the default wave animations

Height of wave animations is controlled in...erm...it's, i guess XML\Terrain\BasicTerrainInfos.xml, in the vanilla folder.
Can't say it exactly, because i don't have civ4 here, but look at the vanilla folder, there are one or 2 unique files in it, and in one it's mentioned.

Why do you not just turn the pictures in buttons?

Even if I knew how to make or edit dds files, Executives and Headquarters need logos. Also, these aren't real logos, merely conceptual ones, though I suppose I could take some fictional logos and convert them into buttons, but that still doesn't get me Execs or HQs.

But you have to learn creating buttons. A simple button is done in less than a minute, and you'll need everytime everywhere buttons.

And for the logos:
That's editing the gamefonts, and editing the gamefonts is a real pain. Nobody will do it for you, because it's boring work, which has to be precise, and at the beginning, you'll fail very often. That needs time, and this is a thing, which nearly nobody has.
But it's not complicated, you can also learn that.

I have a relatively simple request (I hope). I think it may have even been done before, but I'm not sure.

Anyhow, when playing the game, there is a list of civilizations/leaders on your right side (the one that lists if you're at war, have treaties, that kind of stuff). Is there a modcomp that makes this list scrollable (i.e., the list doesn't go off the screen if there's too many civs)? If not, what python do I need to do to change this (I am assuming it isn't ridiculously hard)?

Thanks in advance,

cybrxkhan
