Great Artists no longer show up for me.

So I am playing this game - and doing rather well if I do say so myself. I am dominating the technology game due to early religion grabs and the money is pouring in. But I researched "Music" before others had researched "Iron Working" and nothing. No Great Artist.

Okay I thought, maybe some Civ is more advanced than I thought. Later, I got an Ice Sculpturer. I could add 100 culture to the city, or receive a free Great Artist. Wonderful, I thought! I love Great Artists!! So I picked Great Artist. AND NOTHING.

I'm really pissed right now. I love Great Artist's ability to create a Great Work. It's so amazing. Now why is this game spitting on my face and refusing to give me my Great Artists?!?

could you provide a save game? preferably one just before this happened?

I'll try. I'm not sure why it's necessary.

this is not something that is supposed to happen and I want to test if it happens on my computer which would make it likely that this is a bug in the game or if it just happens on yours which would make it likely that some files in your install are screwed up - most likely from the installation of botched mods or patches. By the way: I did not ask: this is patched to 3.17 right?

Yes it is patched to 3.17. I don't know how much effort will be involved in finding the Great Artist respawn. I guess I'll try now that I'm home.
