Grecko-Persian Wars

Wow, lots of interesting changes and to my mind they all make sense. I still had to move a copy of the map to the Maps folder to get to appear as a choice, so I don't think that's working right yet. I see that you corrected the Pericles and Damascus typos. I think it should be Greco-Persian without the "k." Grecko sounds like a Greek amphibian :)

I am testing Arabia first and that desert raider is a splendid addition. Likewise, using Furor Teutonicus for the nomadic civs is a good idea. It will be interesting to see if it's possible to hold Persia off with this setup.

I had been making steady progress against Persia playing India-Porus in version 5, but it was tough going. It should be much more viable now that the war elephants can move after shooting.

Well, that's annoying. I'll go back and try to figure out why it's still not working when I get the chance.
An unfortunate part of the mod browser submission process is that if you change the title of a mod by even a letter it will treat it as a completely new mod. So with that in mind, I'll probably just leave it as the lizard sounding "Grecko" spelling.

Glad the changes are for the better at least. Your earlier feedback was definitely helpful.
 
One other thing ... I cannot re-load any autosaves for this scenario. In fact, trying to do so crashes the game. Next time I am on I'll try doing a save myself to see if that can be re-loaded. I've never had an autosave re-load problem with any mod before, and it worked fine on your version 5.

We'll chalk the Grecko (a.k.a. Greek Gecko) up to good humor :)
 
That's interesting, as I saw the same thing happen when I was playing an old version (5 or 6 is my guess). I chalked it up to an issue with the cache, so I deleted everything in it and moved on. I don't think I've tried using autosave since though, so it might be a consistent crash problem.

It might be related to the issue with the new civs not showing up I suppose. That's about all I can come up with.

As far as the Grecko mispelling, that was of course an intended joke from the beginning. It certainly wasn't just ignorance on my part ;)
 
I discovered that the loading a save runtime error is a product of my deleting "insta heal" from the game. I have no clue why it will let a game start, but not load a save if deleting insta heal caused some conflict somewhere.

Anyways, I'll probably have a non-bugged version back up sometime tomorrow.
 
use a SQL entry like:

DELETE FROM UnitPromotions_UnitCombats WHERE PromotionType='PROMOTION_INSTA_HEAL';

Don't delete anything from table that have a column named "ID", even less the first entry... I keep doing this mistake in my mods, and with that particular one (insta heal) I've done it twice :D
 
Hi rhettrongun. This scenario seems very interesting since I loved to play historical scenarios on Civ IV. But now I'm newbie in Civ V and I'm playing the Mac version. Does it work on Mac? I am looking forward to try it afterworks :)
 
I ran some tests and the re-load issue seems to be specific to this scenario (v7). I cannot re-load either user saves nor autosaves and attempts to do either crash the game. I am fully able to re-load non-modded games and tested one other scenario and it was okay also. Are other players of this scenario having the same problem? If so, it might be good to consult with the techs. Maybe some geckos got into script :)

Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind for disabling things in the future. In this case I think I have it safely disabled by making it require a new promotion I made (called PROMOTION_KILL_INSTA_HEAL :)) that is not possible to acquire.

It looks like the save game problem is corrected and I now know how to avoid that now as well. A non-bugged version will be uploaded shortly.
 
Version 8 seems to be working fine. Saved games can be re-loaded and the map location issue is also resolved. Testing out Arabia now
 
I have version 8 and I can play with Greeks but every time I choose Persia the game crashes. I really like to play this mod since I'm a Persian my self. Please help me out.
 
I have a problem:

I'm playing as Sparta.The game went fine,until turn 55.The game processed the turn,and when it came to Egypt,the whole thing crashed.

Any ideas?
 
Well, the mod's creator haven't been around for some time now.
 
This would be a hell of a lot easier to fix than the ww2 mod, but I'm definitely going to try to focus on that for now. Maybe later if modding goes well.

I can't believe what did I just see.I thought I have to give up on this scenario,but you came back.Wonderful.

By the way,when I tried to play as Persia,the game crashed immediately,when it tried to load.

Can you give me some help? :)
 
Maybe. It's not something I can fix easily. I made this scenario several major patches and expansions ago (pre G&K and BNW). Persia was a bit taxing on your PC to play to begin with, but my guess is it's crashing because there are several mod errors that came as a result of the updates to Civ5. I can hardly believe it's possible for people to get 50-60 turns in with the smaller civs. I'll have to go through the mod and update the xml changes so that they fit the current build of civ5, then troubleshoot.

Maybe I'll tackle this right away actually, as the ww2 scenario is quite the behemoth project. I'll update the thread with the new version when I can.

Turn 94 with Sparta,haven't crashed yet.
I don't know why,but when i choose ,,garden" as production,sometimes it gives me +2 happiness,sometimes don't.
Puppetted cities don't always choose production by themselves,so I have to annex them..
My other problem is with gold.By turn 94,I have conquered the whole Peleponnesos,and Persia controls all the harbors of the Mediterranean sea,so I can't send a cargo ship anywhere to gather gold,which leads to a minus in my GPT.
So my GPT is like -80,happiness -20.. But maybe I can work the happiness out,although it will cost me some time.
