[GS] GS impressions/random observations thread.

Has anyone been able to capture civilian units inside cities? I never seem to be able to do so since Gathering Storm, even when I'm not attached to a civilian unit of my own.
Someone else mentioned this and I thought I had but now I am not so sure. I have been looking for the last couple of games and I have not. They did the same thing before R&F, then you could again but without guarantee.

Nope, any workers or settlers seem to vanish when taking any city, not just the civ's last one as before. I've captured a few in the open, but never in a city.

Just not feeling this ”improved” map generation. Want to get a Desert start for Mali, tundra for Canada, or coast for Phoenicia? Reroll, and if that doesn't help, reroll, and if that doesn't help...

Not asking for a perfect start, but with so many civs depending on features like terrain type, rivers, mountains, etc., they should try and improve the bias.

I’m guessing end of March-ish, based on RnF.

Unlike RnF, looks like FXS didn’t need to rush a hot fix a few days after release (although I thought I read somewhere here there may have been a quiet update - but perhaps that’s wrong or was some wild fever dream).

I'd guess mid-march. Didn't they run a sort of monthly update schedule in the beginning?

Funny enough in my current Mali game I got a desert my first roll. Same with my first Mali game. It's not a huge desert, I only got 2 cities with desert tiles. But honestly desert cities are crappy anyways, and Mali cities are better with grassland hills instead of desert hills.

Currently playing a huge continents maps. I'm conquering the world without hard building any units. All gold or faith bought. Of course I've never conquered a huge map before, it's quite time consuming. I may end up with over 300 cities.

The released version has not changed since GS came out.

I'm guessing later next week for the patch, four weeks after GS, but would not be surprised if it took another week.

The game's not in bad shape. If they can fix the all-or-nothing barb issue and city state distribution, I'll be happy.

I've started getting crashes beginning just yesterday (EDIT--two days ago). I hope they got the auto-submit bug thing to help work it out. I can't think of anything different on my PC since then but there must be.

I'm interested to see what will be patched.

Even though it is unlikley, I want to see an option for even worse, permanent disasters or something along those lines when you hit the future era.

Oh man, Eleanor can be a nasty neighbor.

I have a militaristic Ottoman game going on and I'm struggling with my treasonous citizens joining her.

Really love the new leaders and civs, Maori and Hungary should be nerfed a bit tho!

It's also defensive. I've had some trouble maintaining loyalty as I advanced into her territory as well because the cities would already show negative loyalty before her great works are factored in.

Ha, same setup here. However, I managed to stay in Cultural Alliance with her for most of the game. The problem is - I’m going for Domination, and it’s time to roll over her. Waiting on construction of Gundams in my city, so that I can take her out quickly.
