[GS] GS impressions/random observations thread.

I became suzerain of Fez. 20 science per pop in a city you convert for the first time. Simply spread my religion to one of my 10 pop cities and got 200 science instantly, shaving several turns off my research and getting me a tech instantly.

I'm never gonna do it without the Fez on...

Huh. So you could do an arabia-style late-game religion pop and just, bam! Science!

Russia says, howdy!

Yes this! I was on Prince / Standard speed, after researching two resource related first tier tech and boom great bath gone ...

In my game, Stonehenge, Artemis, and Great Bath have all lasted till the classical era.

Your fully promoted spies getting kicked off of counterspy missions is still a thing when they successfully kill an enemy spy.

At least you know how to use them.
My only rock band won't play because they have a 50% chance of it being their last gig!
I put them on that bus and they drove half way around the world doing nothing but getting drunk.
You have to use them according to their promotion. E.g. if you have the wonder promotion, play on wonder tiles, if you get 2 sucessful concerts you get another promotion. Keep playing on wonders and you can level up 4 where you have a 6% chance of failing.

Two civs not claiming their great prophet?

I like the idea of natural disasters being variable in frequency. They shouldn't be predictable, really.

Agreed they shouldn't be predictable but in the games I've played part through they seem to keep hitting the same player a lot.

I don't , what is it ?

In this expansion you can generate rock bands through faith which acts as a tourism bomb in another civ's city. I don't know 100% of the details. Sounds like something that would be documented even a little bit in relation to the Tourism tab on the civilopedia though. Or documented somewhere with the Cultural Victory or something related to it. But no, you only get information about rock bands by knowing ahead of time that they exist in the game and typing them into the search function, which continues to make the civilopedia a trashy source of information.

But that's fine, there's still no documentation of what a Domestic Tourist is despite it being one of the key definitions in the entry for how to win a Cultural Victory and the game's been out for over 2.5 years!

sadly delegations get thrown at during war... so no.

So new abuse is lib & flip.
I liberate a macedonian city back to them for 300 diplomacy points, it flips to Elanor and I liberate it again.
Nah.. it was the same in RnF, now it's more impactful due to diplomacy. I'm repeating myself but loyalty system is broken.

I seem to recall Ed saying that volcanic eruptions would remove resources, but that does not appear to be the case in the release version.

I believe they remove bonus resources and woods/jungles, so save mother nature the trouble and chop those jungles/woods and banana/deer adjacent to volcanos before they explode

Two civs not claiming their great prophet?

They might already have their prophet. In my game, it showed me as having the points for another GP. Of course I couldn't get it, but it wasn't like R&F where the panel changed to unavailable as soon as you had your 1st.

Looks quite devoid of trees. What does the climate screen have to say about it, and did any civ turn into Atlantis?
Lowland 3 got submerged, the deforestation level was extreme and I put out something like 7000 CO2 :P
