Flying Pig, can we confirm that Hainan (the island just south of mainland China) and Svalbard (the islandsnorth of Norway) are coloured incorrectly? They do have types of autonomous status, but there's I can't think why Vancouver Island would be different from mainland BC.

Svalbard is coloured correctly, Hainan should be part of China.

Rule: if a dependancy is coloured but the mainland is not, it's correct. If it's the other way around, it means I forgot it or didn't fancy colouring in every little 1-pixel island. I did try to get most of it right.

Nothing at all. It might be a little unfair to be honest, it's probably more likely that a British person will recognise the connection. It's something to do with a British institution (which is recognised pretty internationally), but nothing else links the countries together. And as everyone knows you get red from mixing blue and green.
