Guess the Map V: A Map is Worth a Thousand Words

And as a hint:
It is Taiwan not RoC.

So, does it have something to do with names? Or with geography?

It was not the first fake filename. I think SuperBeaverInc. did the same in the thread before this one (yes, I check the filenames every time, but I refrain from posting then if it reveals the map). But I did not steal the idea, wanted to do this for a long time.

Country names are important, they are half the solution in some way.
It is not about republics.

Countries that are named in a language that is not their official or defacto language. Like Mexico is an Aztec word but the country speaks Spanish.

Fake file names will probably become the norm. I know next time I make a map I will give it one.

Well all seven countries highlighted in Europe have monarchs as their heads of state and both Brazil and Mexico were monarchies at one point.

No, it has nothing to do with forms of government or the name in a different language than the countries' official.
When I wrote Country names are important, they are half the solution in some way. this was a hidden hint. The countries' names are only one half.

So many small countries scattered across the globe... does it have something to do with colonialism and/or independence movements?

Strange that I couldn't find that on wiki.

Off topic: Why did the old name have both republic and united states that kinda seems redundant.

Nothing so far.
Like I said, it is something that does not make much sense to be displayed in a map, the names of the countries are important and it is Taiwan, not RoC. Else the country would not be red. I did not write that but it was implied.

We spell the country's name differently to the way they do? Brazil/Brasil etc. I'm fast running out of ideas.

Ok, one more hint. The countries are one half of the solution, the capitals are the other one.
