Carlos II of Spain died in 1701, the UK was formed in 1801 and the French Revolution was 1776. The interesting question is why Denmark and Japan aren't extremely dark as well, if it's based on dynastic government.
No, it has nothing to do with the constitution, but the date of the constitution is typically relative to when countries got it. Same goes for independence.
And we have a winner with national anthems! Map displays the dates countries got their national anthems. If I remember correctly, UK#1. a lot of countries have very old anthems but these songs were not adopted until later.
So, it's adoption of the original anthem? Because I always thought, we (Switzerland) did use the British one at first (not officially ). Also we did change the song once, so is it the one of the moment or the original one? It's also interesting to see that the Vatican doesn't have a National Anthem...
