To Blue Monday: Another "Thanks" from the crowd.
To Knas: I applaude your feelings, and don't be ashamed to be Swedish. I have a good friend here who is from Vastros who read Hakan's thread and couldn't believe a countryman would say such hateful things.
To Hakan and Mikoyan: I can't understand how you both can say these things. Imagine the condition of the world if another nation had the power America has. It takes great responsibility to hold such power, and I understand their will be envious or enraged people across the globe...it is expected. To blanket America and its people with such messages is disgusting. To say that a nation who in 1946 could have literally conquered most of the planet...who could have excerised its power to crush any opposing regime...is "imperialistic" and "militaristic" is rather proposterous. Instead, we poured billions of dollars into Europe to restore it from the tyrrany which swarmed over the continent. We tried to promote freedom throughout the world (although failed here and there), and without expectations of any monetary compensation. I would like to see any other nation have such generosity. While we may be involved militarily across the globe, it is generally for peacekeeping missions (remember Bosnia?), fighting recognized ethnic cleansing (remember Kosovo), providing food for the needy (remember Somolia), and defending invaded nations for no other reason except for oil supplies seeked by the invaders (remember Kuwait?). Before you accuse America of such horrible things, consider what your life would be like without us. And Hakan: I do consider the source...what can you possible know being 16 years old? Can you possibly know what happend to your continent the past 50 years? Do you have any grip on the reality in this world? Or do you just play "Civilization" too much?
To Graeme the mad: Speak for your own nation. Here in America, we have low taxes and poverty, but we have opportunity to climb out of poverty without the help of a government bail-out which promotes laziness and inefficiency. And if you have ever been here you would know the poverty in this country largely would be similar to the average luxury level of Italy or Spain...and parts of Wales and Scotland, too. Show me the same opportunity in Britain, and yes, I have many friends there, and yes, they are all aristocrats. Don't get me wrong: I appreciate the friendship our two nations have, but I get the feeling if you were in charge, it would be different.
Just fed up with all the nonsense and ignorance.
