Had to share this nice little start.

You need more than the seed#, you need the world settings as well.
And the seed# stored in the ini isn't the last game played, but the last 'New Game' started anyway.

There's not really that many variables there. If you're patient enough, you'll figure them out. Also, I think C3MT might be able to pull some stuff from it.

That is a nice start! (2 cattle!) Build a city 1 SE of that warrior in the north, build a few workers, and work those tiles like no tomorrow. A simple archer rush would do.

Granted, it depends on the level too...

Ever had a 2-city start on an island against a Sid-level AI with only archers, spears and trebuchets to defend yourself? I have... Pushed that AI back... Before the Hittites saved me for last with their Modern Armor!

While not SID, I personally find PTW diety about as much as I can handle. :)

The two cattle were what made me really believe I could salvage something from the start. What killed me was that of my archers couldn't even kill roman archers on flat ground. I think my kill ratio on archer vrs archer with no defensive bonuses was around 50%. I lost 6 or 7 archers attacking Roman archers and only 3 defending against them. After that the flood of Roman archers and spears was too much.

As for the seed and settings. It was still the last "new game" I started, so I should be able to check on that and post the various settings. As for the seed, I have never used the tools to pull that info, but will try if you want.

Use ainwood's seedbeast to pull the seed....

Since the game was in PTW and only C3C has the 'Play Last World' option this would not work. Because of the new terrains inserting the PTW seed in C3C would give a different map. I guess one could use the PTW editor instead but this would give a lot of spoiler information.

I felt free to extract the seed:

Barbarians: RAGING.

Climate: NORMAL.

LandForm: ARCHIPELAGO.

Map Size: STANDARD.

Ocean Coverage: 80%.

Temperature: TEMPERATE.

World Age: 4 BILLION YEARS.

World seed: 525893771

PLAYERS:
Egypt (Human player)
Carthage
Rome
Scandinavia
Japan
India
Babylon
Greece

It gives the SAME map, but ressources are different. Usually there is tobacco where there were cattle before.

I noticed this problem with normal C3C 1.22 saves, too. Seedbeast worked better in 1.15 for some reason.

Strangely, I got another starting position, too. You start besides a GOODY HUT, btw! ;) -> and a freshwater lake. My savegame has restless barbs only, no raging ones.

But it might be even better - you are alone, no trade, but no danger either.

A whole set of game seed extractions, pics and savegame (Demigod):

Note that the mapfile (.biq) is a zip because .biqs cannot be uploaded at Civfanatics.

I think this is because when moving to Conquests some of the opponents gain Seafaring. Seafaring's 'start next to water' takes precedence and starting locations will be switched around. Try replacing some of the seafaring opponents with non-seafaring ones.

Just tried it, even with no seafaring nation at all, you end up at the same position. I will now try Netherlands instead of Egypt...
