Hand Drawn Graphics

Looks cool :) As Mrtn said though I think you chould change the resources... Keep them more colorful but make them in the same style as the map... a hand-drawn instead of computer graphic horse :) I think the cities should be changed as well... Maybe if you have a decent image program it'll have a cartoon tool... or whatever it's called to give it more of a rough look, fewer color transitions etc.

The City Graphics are all Drawn, Its just a matter of placing them, I've gone for that 'Map Icon' look, small hill top forts and such, This way cities will look different, instead of just 'adding some surrounding buildings'. I'm merely tweeking at the moment, (oh and getting the coast to 'line up'. Since the original graphics are sooooo numerous, they allow me to get inventive, There is 1 grassland terrain that only crops up on 1 map in 10, 1 forest that is 1 in 20, the tundra forests rarely make an appearance, and try to even FIND a waterfall... (I've had it happen ONCE in at least 200 map tests) So by placing unique and interesting icons on these graphic slots I have a nice 'added' feel to the map.

Note: in the posted screen shot there are 3 Goody Huts and One barbarian Village, Which is which and Should goody huts stand out or blend in...

SWEET. two suggestions:
1) The borders haven't changed on the Hills
2) The coasts aren't completely hand drawn.
I'll download it as soon as i can. :)
Yeah the Borders is mid test, It looks silly and a bit too chunky at the moment, I'm trying to get that 'coloured' border like you see on old world maps, So I'm just geting the best 'feel' before I edit the hill variety (p.s. It is different from the original if you look close enough)
and The Coasts is the hardest part for me at the moment, Drawing the graphic on parchment over a graph paper on a light table to get the coasts to all line up aint as easy as it sounds, and I have to 'nudge' the graphics here and there to get them to line up.... Then there is 72 coastal graphics per terrain type, 288 seperately drawn coasts... I'm only 38 done so far... thats why you cant see the ones I have done on the screen shot that I took.... When I've got the 'desert' set finished I'll post the screeny of that...

288 different coastlines?!?

 I don't think I could have that kind of patience

How do you keep from going insane :crazyeye: ?

I think that the borders are too broad now. What about thinner, but not so transparent? (You have a lot of small holes in it now. Just now it's too early for hard English words, hope you get my meaning. :)) It should maybe also have some small imperfections, now they're too straight and "perfect".
Are the heads civ coloured? If they are: it looks cooler with red heads than with light blue or green ones. What about having flags instead? The heads look cool as they are now, though. :hmm:

Flags would be cool.

But heads on stakes has more of that "fantasy" feel. Hmm.

Flags would work better with all eras. Skulls would only work in the ancient or fantasy mods.

In that case, mby he can leave the skulls...
... and make flags as a diff "patch" for those who don't like the skulls
that way he keeps his origonal idea, and makes those who don't want it happy aswell.

I'm mucking around really, and saving all my ideas as I go, I'll Put probably all 5 of my 'boarders' in the folder, and a skecthed version of the original graphics as well as MY graphics for my own Fantasy Mod, That way you can decide if you want the original cities or ones that look like this....

That is GREAT!
So much fun there, my only question is is it possible to make them more scary looking? More like a Jolly-Rodger skull? That would be great!, but regardless, this is great! Can't wait until this is done!

 These graphics continue to shock and amaze.
Great work

...but it looks like your missing a skull on your borders. In the top right corner of the borders. You can see them missing on the blue & green borders. Is this a goof, or was it intentional

Intentional, The graphic is limited to the Isometric diamond, which cuts off at the pixel of the top of the diamond, so any 'skull' wouldn't fit in the graphic,

P.s. The city might look great as a seperate graphic, but In game it looks TERRIBLE, Too Busy at the moment.... I'm going to edit/simplify some busy graphics, Get rid of the chunky roads and replace with a 'dotted' line with little villages at the crossroads.

Still got those pesky coastal tiles to do too...
