I decided for the heck of it to play a 1v1 on Regent on a Tiny map. I drew the Zulu while the other civ was Persia. I start out on the coast with 1 Fur and Gold nearby. The Persians were SSW of me. I raided 3 goodie huts with my scout and my initial warrior. All three gave me Warriors, so I used those as well to WRush(Warrior Rush) them. I captured a worker and used my Regular(4) against his Regular(4). It only took a few seconds but the Persians ceased to exist. Game Over!! 14460 points!! LMAO!!! Next time I'll try on a Small Map. But this was just a test to see what would happen.

So has anyone else tried this on Deity? :)

Yeah I've tried it when I was testing out the Deity waters, it is an easy way to ge a lot of points.

It is very fun to play a one on one game. On a regular map, you have plenty of space to expend and exploration in medieval time is possible because there is only one A.I. so there is free land or free island to colonise.
Strategic ressource search and luxuries are key to succeed.

Yeah that's what I thought when I wanted to do it..the resources are ulimately more important to get. On a Standard map, the wars between civs could go on for hundreds of years. Maybe if I go 1v1v1 it might be more of a challenge, especially on harder levels. But it was just a test, although it might become more of an every game event for me :)

One problem with more land than civs is that the game allocates strategic and luxury resources per civ , not per map tile. So if you have only 2 civs on a regular map, you may have to build a road 70 squares long to get to iron. You can increase the appearance ratio in the editor, but I don't think the max values for "appearance ratio" are enough for 4 civs on a custom 256X256 map.

You get a bonus if you complete a game early. That's why tiny maps were banned from the HOF, because someone (i think it was ari) developed a strategy that worked pre v1.21 were you can get thousands and thousands of points in maybe an hour's worth of playing time.

I do that very often, and if you also lower OCN (optimum City numnber) way down, you cna have real long and fun wars, with resource denila and so on - and you need scores of colonies :D

FUN!!!!
