Ok. a couple more questions.]

1. I have heard of some program that organsises you RAM good. What is it?

2. Where do i go to make my dial up connection redial automatically?

Ok a couple more answers
wink.gif

1) Yeah there's a RAM "unfragmenter", like a HD optimizer but that optimizes your RAM to free larger blocks but unfortunately, I've forgotten its name. Anyway, I don't think it's as useful as optimizing your HD. Because your HD performances are more important. Since it's 1000 times slower than ram...
2)It depends on your OS. Which one have you? 2k? 98? ME?

98

Go in control panel>modem. Then click on its properties. I don't remember well but there should be a automatic dial box to tick. Something like that. I'll check that out. In any case, everything related to your modem settings must be in the modem control panel properties.
And i think normally, if you've been disconnected, just refresh your internet explorer window. Then it should automatically redial.
Last thing: ensure that you don't have the "disconnect me after x minutes idle" option enabled.

RAM Optimizers.
rolleyes.gif

Yeah.....you can get them......but I'm against them. They take up RAM to run and when you try to optimize it.....your computer crashes or gets slow or something.

Maybe I was expecting too much....anyway..... http://www.download.com and search for RAM. You will probably find a dozen or so.

I wonder whether the Kiwi version of win98 is different... Or you might really be a Kiwi

jk
Well. I don't know then. As I said, loading or refreshing explorer internet pages should redial you. If you're fed up with disconnections, take adsl, cable, or satellite access. That's a good idea, isnt' it?

Yeah but it's better than cable. With cable you've got a f*** upload limit. And if you play online, this limit can be easily reached. e.g in France, the u/l limit is 200 MB(!!) Each extra Mb is charged $1... No comment. I say: DSL rules!

$1!!!!!!

here it is only 20c.

hummm my cable has no limits (and the upload speeds is almost as fast as the download speed)
http://www.dslreports.com/stest?loc=1

a few times i've wondered if there was a limit (wake up.. find stuff either finished downloaded or uploaded.. not to mention the camera i sometimes leave on all day/night) .. well.. they haven't cut my servise yet! heehehe! weeeee!!!

Perhaps it's time for a nice %STRING0

You're lucky not to have an u/l limit. Almost everybody have it. Even Shadowdale has. Concerning the symetrical transfert, I think the SDSL can be faster than cable, but of course you don't have the TV on SDSL, whereas you can also watch cabled channel on cable. Anyway, to boost your perf, you have some cable uncapper programs... He he. Of course it's supposed to be not lega (can be seen as a "theft of servive" and your ISP can sue you but who cares)

man your ISP's suck im with Telus in Canada we have no limits as to uploads or downloads. I have ADSL which is slower then SDSL but still i have obtained speeds coming down around 500k a sec during the prime time evenings. i mean i have pulled in between 10-20 gigs in music, movies, and games and such with out my isp saying a famn thing. its so awesome DSL is the best.

hotline is ok but sometimes Bearshare can be better and faster. it allows you to target users who have the faster connections along with more choices in games/movies and items... its almost the napster of mp3's and such now.

Plus hotline takes a while to find a fast server that's not congested, plus its easier to resume with bear share. Also you can be connected to multiple users at once unlike hotline which you can only connect to one server at a time.
