Help Needed Setting Up PC Monitor (DVI-D) to TV (HDMI)

No, I mean the GTX 400 series. There is no GTX 300.

Okay, thats not entirely correct, there are GT 3xx cards, but they're all OEM and based on the GT200 or G92 cores, so they're not really new.

Huh, well they did skim over the 100 series too.

That's a seriously ancient card. You can get something much more powerful these days. HD5770 is around 200$ and its more powerful/more energy efficient. Plus nVidia will be releasing the GTX400 series in a really short while, so look for those as well.

Wow, I checked it out on Google product search, and it is definitely something I am strongly considering to buy. I wonder is my motherboard has the proper PCI Express slot for it; I have to check when I get home. I think it's PCI Express x16

I should just note that PSU requirements are often exaggerated. Its not as much of an issue these days as it used to be, but there's still a 20-30% overestimation on part of nVidia and ATi. They want to make sure that people with crappy PSU's can still use their product.

A good PSU with a stable 12v line and enough amperage on it will beat out a higher-wattage unstable PSU any day.

You also want to make sure your PSU is running at about 70-80% usage. I believe thats when it's at its most efficient.

nVidia used to recommend a "400W or greater system power supply with 12V current rating of 26A" for the 8800gts but the average consumer found that too complex and, fearing this would turn off people from buying their products, they switched to just saying "450w". Now imagine if they instead also added a recommendation of what the maximum standard deviation of the 12v line regulation should be, they would probably have been bankrupted by now .

Thats pretty much what I meant. They overestimate so that people with crappier PSU's dont buy their cards and then complain that their PSU's which supposedly meet requirements don't work.
