people like him never care about anyone but their own race, i guess it makes them feel like they belong

also if your a catholic wouldnt you believe that god created them too, so they are inherently good

An excellent album indeed. I wouldn't call them the greatest hip-hop band, but Midnight Marauders is very, very good.

Please try to deconstruct A Tribe Called Quest for me. I'm not expecting you to like it, but you can at least get a better perspective on rap that isn't about killing people and exploiting women.

Run DMC, I always liked them for their melodic sound and some of their lyrics are very nice. Especially the first two albums.

I like rap and hip-hop; at least the instrumentals; I often find the lyrics very distasteful and the crime culture associated with many of the artists to be even worse. Due to the bad lyrics, I don't listen to much of it at home anymore with kids in the house; very selective now. The three I think when someone mentions either genre are Eminem, Black Eyed Peas and Missy Elliot.

@AAA: You're probably not listening to the right type of rap. Newer rap has horrible lyrics but good beats (actually some have horsehockey beats and horrible lyrics and I wonder how people actually like them - e.g. "Laffy Taffy").

Biggie smalls (some, he's the one who started this "money, hoes, and clothes" trend, though)

N.W.A. (some tracks are pretty good, but more for stress relief than very intelligent lyrics - e.g. "**** the Police," "Straight out of Compton" [more for relieving anger, though some of the lyrics might not work for white people...])
Eazy-E (see above)
Bone Thugs and Harmony
Public Enemy
Eric B. & Rakim
Nas (mainly Illmatic, which is probably my favorite Hip hop album as a whole, but his later work usually sucks excepting a few good songs)


*Yes, I said it. Some of the stuff is gangster rap, which I like sometimes for anger relief; it's cathartic. A lot , however, is intelligent and very pertinent to modern issues: "Keep ya head up," "Me against the world," "I ain't mad at cha," "Brenda's Got a Baby," "Part Time Mutha," etc. And some are just good to listen to for chilling: "Late night," "I Get Around," etc.


I'll post some more if I think of them.
