Lets talk about Tom MacDonald...

Fifty would be a real plus.

I did check the profile. There are posts in one of the gaming forums that appear relevant to that game. This, however, seems random, and rather bizarre for someone to have been a member for 20 years and have been silent for so long.

@Birdjaguar, what are the current rules about posting videos that I suspect might involve hate speech? (not inclined to view for myself as I don't wish to have to scrub my brain out)

As for Fifty... it's been a lot of years. I recall our last conversation was about kittens.

Well not on the (Billboard) Hot 100 I can assure you that much. He's only had one song make that chart ('Fake Woke', peaked at #96, was only on the chart for one week I believe). Maybe a sales chart? He seems like the sort of artist that would do well on digital sales, as opposed to streaming or radioplay.

OK I found it, it's the iTunes top 10 so it is digital sales. He's top of that chart with 'Snowflakes' (just edging out another white rapper for the top spot lol). I have no hard evidence for this but it does seem like of the four main 'channels' for music chart score, those being radio, sales, streaming and Youtube, sales always seems to have the worst taste.

It is kinda distasteful that he's there but it is worth remembering that the digital sales charts track popularity on a medium that is well on its way to obsolescence. And it is prone to artificial inflation through discounts and other malarkey. So that chart is unlikely to reflect an artist's true popularity, and you can't go mainstream on just that channel. But I will say he's closer to it than I thought, and I don't know if he's going to appear on the coming week's Hot 100 with that Snowflakes song.

that sounds like a good plan to destroy democracy
Critical race theory and sensitivity training is destroying democracy?? Tinfoil hat much?

I have no intention of watching these videos. I suspect they might be the sort that are supposed to be spoilered and marked NSFW at least. I'm not up on the current forum rules about posting hate videos, even if it's just for discussion purposes.

My suggestion: Report them to YouTube as hate speech. They supposedly have rules about that.

Reposting them is not going to help. You're just giving him more views.

I took your advice and last night I went through and reported all of his videos for hate speech. The unfortunate thing about YouTube is you can't report a video without watching it and giving him more views. It's chilling that some of his videos have over 10 million views.

Can't tell if this is serious or tounge-in-cheek...

How else would you plan on putting a stop to it? I posted the videos purely for informational purposes but even then (and rightly so) they were removed. If this type of stuff isn't safe to view here in that context should it even be allowed for public consumption?

Did you also take note of the not so subtle threats of violence in it?

Knowing Youtube they're probably auto-playing it in toddler recommendations. Actual "engagement" is probably way lower.

And on this farm he had a face tattoo, E-I-E-I-O
Looking white trash here and white trash there,
Better invest his rap money well or he won't find a regular job ever
Tom MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O

Oh, he rocks white trash as a look to a T, then utters heresies of format to the class of mostly white *******s that punch down in the day to day on trash. It's a clever combo, it's got some stick because it pisses off the worst sort of buttfaced people, but it's not enough fun to be any better than that.

I've listened to the Tom guy before. Seriously, just go with the hick hop and I'm going to skip the part about where we all whine about how a rapper is going to undo society. I was sharted out in the first half of the 1980s, I've had enough years listening to that already. Does make himself pretty easy to make fun of, but it's less fun because it seems pretty intentional.

Inspiring is rather too high a bar for most things.

Birdjaguar for emperor! :king:

Let us surrender or will of what is rightdoing and wrongdoing to the CFC moderator staff. Only they understand the pure way and can best protect my delicate mind.

Hm, I now watched one video of his. He uses, unironically, the "facts don't care about your feelings" line - tells me he is at best a cretin (at worst, just consciously making money out of cretins) :p

I shouldn't think you'd have to watch the entire thing. Just start it, stop it immediately, and report it.

You realize that by making a thread here, you've given him extra hits in Google searches? I'm not sure, but that might stay even if the thread is deleted. I'm not looking forward to any of his 'fans' showing up here, thinking this is their sort of site.

Community standards for what is and isn't allowed in the Colosseum, OT in particular, have changed over the years (there are a bunch of rather... verbally energetic... threads in Site Feedback from 10-11 years ago if you're interested in looking up the history). Some things are more strict now and others are more lax.

OT used to be divided into The Chamber, for Serious, Highfalutin' Discussions, and The Tavern was for Not-Serious, Normal Conversations. It's an experiment that ultimately did not live up to its intended purpose, and was dropped (thank goodness, because it was sometimes difficult to figure out where the line was in posting some threads).

Now we use the RD prefix to indicate those threads where posters are asked to be respectful of the OP's topic, not bring in irrelevancies, and they're on a higher level of moderation (RD means "Red Diamond" - a holdover from the days of vBulletin when a red diamond icon was used instead of a prefix).

Just a nosy question: You've posted photos and mentioned your daughter on numerous occasions over the years. You haven't said if she might some day be interested in joining CFC. Is there material posted in OT that you would not want her to watch or read, if she should join up when she's 13?

They aren't hate speech videos. They are shock-rap. The only person who benefits from people whining about this guy is this guy. It's literally his shtick, pissing off the right people.

I still thinks it's Tom.

What's the difference whether someone talks about committing violence toward identifiable minorities or screams it and calls it "music"?
