i want to see something

i was looking at the thread below about afghan rap and was quite surprised at how ignorant most people are of rap.

i just want you to answer 2 questions

1. why you dislike it

and

2. name three rappers that you first think of when someone mentions rap

and if you like rap, recommend me three rappers in the vein of Blackalicious, Jurassic 5, and Deltron 3030

The music itself hardly seems to be music at all. I'd say the musical value of rap is on par with those Federal Express commercials in the early 80s. The music is the last part of the problem, though.

Look at the musicians themselves. Most of them have been convicted of selling/trafficking drugs, robbery, and/or assault with a deadly weapon. Are these the kinds of role models that (mostly) black American children should have to look up to? Is that the kind of society we want for Americans of the future?

yes but i am speaking of hip hop in broader terms, not just commerical crap but the entire spectrum

its like saying all music from the 80s sucked because of hair metal

and music is very subjective so it transcends boundarys

I hate hip hop. Its the most annoying music ive ever heard.

And when im driving and i hear it blasted in someones car beside me, I think they are only listening to it for an image thing. Why else would you need to blast your music to show others what your listening to?

I really do not find the music entertaining in the least way either. I dont like the beats and the lyrics suck. And if those two suck then why bother listening to it?

yes, systems do suck and its the same commercial clique too

there is rap out there that is concerned with more important issues

I know this is really off topic but on a similar note i hate people who try to act like another ethnicity.

Like when rich white kids talk with black ebonics. Its just stupid and it looks foolish.

But i think ebonics is foolish to begin with.

I like rap and hip hop and everyone who doesn’t is Hitler.

Dictator, you should check out stuff like Sugarhill Gang, Rock Steady Crew, George Clinton, Grandmaster Flash, Fat Boys, and Furious Five. :)

And if you haven’t checked out NWA, do it now. For kicks, heck even Luniz and Guru’s Jazzmatazz.

george clinton is where its at

i already love SHG, Grandmaster Flash, and the furious five though

and not that i dislike old school, i was looking for more modern stuff (ima beat whore)

I think he only has two 'solo' albums. Black on Both Sides is pretty good.

Hip hop is just crap to me

That statement is so ridiculous a stereotype that its borderline racist. Seriously.... "Most"?

Most famous ones that promote violence do have a criminal record. The ones that are heard about all the time are quite of ten ones who were drug traffickers or murderers. And NO, this is not a racial bias. It's what I've learned over the years
