I'm thinking about starting a book-exchange on CFC. We simply exchange physical literature through the mail. A running list could be kept of the personal libraries of whoever participates. I don't think that this should be official or site-sanctioned because there isn't any real need for it; a stickied thread should be sufficient.

It doesn't have to be all history, but there are already sites to exchange books on and they barely have any nonfiction (least of all history), so that's what I'm focusing on.

This project requires sharing of addresses, which provides a legitimate reason for suspicion. However, if we only share this information in PMs with people we trust, I think the risk is mitigated sufficiently to encourage participation. Given the fact that we'll be able to know which person has which books (and blacklist them if they try anything funny) makes me think it won't be the least problem.

So you'll just list whatever materials you're willing to trade out. Example:

Mouthwash:

100 Decisive Battles: From Ancient Times to the Present -Paul K. Davis
The Battle That Stopped Rome -Peter S. Wells
Siddhartha -Hermann Hesse
11/22/63 -Stephen King
Ender's Game -Orson Scott Card
Speaker for the Dead -Orson Scott Card
Blaze- Stephen King
Rainbows End -Vernor Vinge (Awful book, imo, but people like him)

etc.

(I don't have a lot of history, but I'm currently looking for some.)

I think this could potentially become really productive, not only because it expands our set of possible reading material, but because it also permits us to share our research interests. If this is something we took seriously, I think we could really take it and run with it.

I am disappoint.
