Which is not to say that Jews were not given a hard time at various points in Soviet history, such as the refusal of emigres to Israel, and the closing of synagogues. But then, all religions were treated this way. Judaism was discriminated against, just as Christianity and Islam were, but Jews were not discriminated against.

I think Communists are wrong, because the system isn't workable, but that doesn't make a sincere Communist a monster! Learn some more history. The 6 million you are talking about were mostly from the occupied countries, especially Eastern European, predominantly Jews, Gypsies etc. - hardly 'his own people'. Not that that makes killing them any more acceptable - just make sure what you are comparing, here.

Actually, as an ethnic German, you were far safer under Hitler than as a Soviet under Stalin - Stalin purged people for no reason at all, not only for disagreeing with him, as you say, but only for belonging to a group that MIGHT potentially be a danger to his power - officers of the Army, etc. Or on pure suspicion, like unsubstantiated accusations by some informer, who, believe it or not, often had quotas to fulfill. .... find a traitor or be seen as one yourself...

Oh, it matters A LOT. But ultimately, God may have other reasons for not getting involved. I don't know why, but God doesn't get involved with those things in the direct matter you stated. I would say God dealt with Hitler, its called the Allies.
