Do you have MS office installed? The is either a dependency that the install wizard missed or some conflict that the office install cleans up.

Did you try downloading and installing the VB runtime ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en)?

If that didn't work you could try this: http://www.vladd44.com/other/error.php.

If you don't have office, it might be worth trying to install the excel viewer.

Does anyone who doesn't have Office or Excel installed work?
I have no MS office installed and I used your links but I still received the same error.

It seems to be Office dependant. I did not have any office product installed before, but immediately after i installed Office XP, Map finder starts up nicely :)

C-Cleaner and excel viewer did not help, but gladly the Office XP install did the job. Thanks for the help Denniz :goodjob:

I am using a common resource that comes with office. The DLL is in the install but there must be some other dependency that the setup wizard didn't recognize. I will research this further tonight after work. The DLL is FM20.DLL for anyone that is interested.

I was planning on migrating this into VB 2005 Express (.NET 2.0) at some point. I guess this will accelerate that timeline if I don't find a simple solution.

I do not have MS office installed, but I do have OpenOffice, although I'm 99% positive the reason it works for me is not office, but Visual Studio.

I have both office and studio on this comp but I will have a friend install it later, his comp is 100% MS free :P

Are the older versions of HOF mod available for download anywhere? Reason I ask is you cant study other HOF entries that were played with earlier versions unless you have them installed. Or am i doing something wrong and I should be able to load a previous save in the current version?

Click the "Unprotected" link.
Dave's suggestion would be right, if it worked! The intention of the unprotected link is that it should allow you to download a version of the save that should load into the latest version of the HOF mod. I've just realised that I haven't update it since we released 1.61.004 though, so that link will return a game that requires 1.61.003. I'll get on to fixing that.

I don't see why we even need the "Original Game" link, the "Unprotected" link is superior in every way.
That's a good point. Us staff find it useful to have access to the original save files, but I guess they're not much use for players.
