We've been having trouble with the DNS entry for the civfanatics.net domain. Hopefully this is fixed now, but might take a while to update. I just checked from here and it's just started working again...

I have modest proposal for next HOF mod. If it is possible it would be IMHO very useful if clock stops running when nothing is happened with the game, ie. no mouse or keyboard events let say for two minutes. Clock should run forward when game receives any new event. If is not possible do it automatically then probably clock could be stopped by pressing pause key. I believe such functionality should be included by developers, but ...

Hi Dianthus ... well I've just played another game on duel using map generator and I have the same new session message :( So I have submitted it this time. Perhaps you can tell whether it's the program and not me. Thanks.
Misotu, I looked at your submission. The extra session is caused by a combination of one of the HOF warning checks and Map Finder. Nothing to worry about. I accepted your game.

Being a recent enthusiast of GOTM, and trying to help evaluate HOF Mod for GOTM use, I downloaded it and gave it a quick try while testing for GOTM8.

I am not sure about the definition of a spoiler, but found an interesting feature on the modified domestic advisor, namely in the world wonders tab: a table of your cities with the wonders that: are already built in it, can be built in it and can be built but are already being built by other civs, among other possible situations. At least it is what mouse over help says, not sure if it really works that way. But if it does, wouldn't it be a spoiler?

p.s. apart from this, I am really enjoying HOF mod, and if there is a GOTM save for it, I will surely use it.

p.s. Already posted at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=4224159#post4224159 but I was advised to post here as well.

Yeah, the original Mod (Modified Special Domestic Advisor) had a spoiler off/on option. Needless to say, we turned it off permanently when we incorporated it into the HOF Mod. It wasn't worth redoing the screens, though. ;)

Just installed HOF Mod. I resume a game then get two turns before crash-to-desktop.

I thought it was supposed to fix that. FYI: using 1.6.1.1841.

Hi Foley. Welcome to the Hall of Fame. :band:

While I know of plenty of nice features in the HOF Mod, I am not aware of any that are supposed to fix any general CTD problems people are having with Civ4 1.61. :confused:

Is there something specific about the HOF Mod you think is casuing you problems? Does you Civ4 vanilla run okay?

Vanilla runs fine except that long games get slower and slower until they become unplayable and/or crash. I just updated to 1.61 and HOF tonight, and the savegame resume issue (CTD) that HOF purports to fix is actuallly fixed, but I can only get in two turns once I resume that savegame before another CTD.

I guess you are referring to a fix in HOF Mod 1.61.003 release notes: "Fixed crash problem when loading saves (appeared in 1.61.002)." That was a bug introduced in HOF Mod 1.61.002. I don't think that has anything to do with your current problem.

Do you have Python error popups and logging turned on? If not, you might want to change the follow options in your CivilizationIV.ini file. (Be aware, some virus checkers slow you down with logging turned on.)

Code:
; Set to 1 for no python exception popups
HidePythonExceptions = 0

; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 1

; Overwrite old network and message logs
OverwriteLogs = 1

; Enable message logging
MessageLog = 1

Without some kind of message or other clue it is kind of hard to know what's happening.

Thanks, mate. Sorry I can't provide anything else. My first ever Civ game, this one. I've learnt a lot this past month (namely that no RTS can ever compare to Civ).

Not sure if this assists, but here's an example game, one turn before CTD:

@Foley, I loaded your savegame and was about to play for several turns without it crashing. The game wouldn't load with the HOF Mod, though. It wanted vanilla Civ4.

Make sure the mod is installed in the right folder. In should be in the Mods folder in the Civ4 Install path, usually "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's\Civilizaition 4\Mods".

It hasn't been updated for version .004 of the HOF Mod, but the this utility might be able to help identify if any assets in the install folder have modified.

http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/mods/Civ4AssetChecker1.3.zip

Extract it from the zip file and run it. Click on "Check". When that completes click on "Save Results" and save the .csv file somewhere, then send that .csv file back to me at hof@civfanatics.net.

Hi all,

I like to play this mod, cause it have most things i need for playing.

Unfortunally i have a problem with the autolog. In german we have letters like this: ß, ö, ü , ä

Any text with letters above produce an error while logging.

Now my Question: Is it possible to try fixing this error in one of the next Updates?

Greetings from Berlin

Interesting, I didn't know the pause key did anything! Note that the time also only counts up when Civ4 is the current application.
