The score victory condition isn't too useful for now, isn't it? Would it be possible to replace it with the mastery victory condition? What that victory condition does is basically the same as what you achieve with the score victory condition, though much more elegantly. Plus it would be the ultimate test for all the good players here: who can not only win a game with one victory condition, but juggle all things in a way that results in a maximum score?

I'm getting a fatal error when trying to look at the 'My Submissions' page. Is that because your currently doing an update? :mischief:

Edit: Here's the error I'm getting:

It's possible. The Gauntlet portions of the site have been updated, but the rest hasn't. Let's see if it clears up after I hit the old boom button...

I've done a little digging. That error should clear up as soon as I hit the publish button.

I've temporarily disabled the Gauntlet results. Do you still get the error?

Didn't know whether to post my question in this forum or the newbie-forum, but this one seems a little more correct.

I've read a lot about the overpowered whiping, i.e whipping at the right moment you get a pretty nice overflow of hammers. But last night when I wanted try this, it didn't seem to work som good. I'm not sure I did it right, but my question is if the HOF-mod (which I've istalled) "disables" this overpowered whipping-tool? If this is the case, thats perfect because I was going crazy reading all those articles about the "perfect whipping-strategy".. :)

So losses wouldn't count towards QM?
Losses get rejected, they wouldn't count towards anything. The Hall of Fame rules require the last file of the submission be the turn after the win, and that's just not possible if you lose. ;)

Hi Freddegredde. Welcome to the HOF. :band:

Hi,

I downloaded the mapfinder a couple of days ago and I had som serious problems when I tried to start up the app, but after downloading a .txt-file (don't remember the name) it works just fine. I have question about the rule-builder. By defafult there are four (?) groups with rules, and a map can be picked from anyone of these sets of rules. But what if I'm only interested in just one type of map? Do I specify all rules i Group 1 and just delete the other groups? Or is there a way to tell Mapfinder just to pick maps from Group 1 rules?
If one group serves your purposes, then that's all you need. :goodjob:

Yes, the HOF Mod includes a fix to the hammer calculation from whipping, both positive and negative.

Sorry if this has been reported already, but I haven't been following the HOF mod very much recently. However, I've been learning from it recently in developing my own modpack. I kept on running into problems with version 1.8e of 12monkey's Modified Special Domestic Advisor there, and I just realized that the same problems exist here in HOF-2.08.003, which uses a tweaked v1.8c as I understand it.

1. The Buildings, World Wonders, and National Wonders screens show the wrong buildings. There are both missing ones and extraneous ones. The first savegame file below is 4000 BC. A few turns later, I see Castle, Cothon, Barracks, and Buddhist Temple in the Buildings Screen... and I'm the Germans (not Carthage), and I don't have Buddhism. In the second savegame file, Cothon and Buddhist Temple are still in the Buildings screen. Also, Stonehenge does not appear in the World Wonders Screen even though I've researched Mysticism.

2. The Free XP column in the Military screen is always zero. Note that even though I built a barracks in the second savegame file, it's still zero.

FYI, the same problems exist in Ruff's SG Cobbled Modpack for Warlords 2.08 too (not surprising since he bases his MSDA on yours). I wonder if anyone else has tried the MSDA in Warlords 2.08 and developed any workarounds.

The savegame files are generated using the default HOF-2.08.003 setup to Program Files\... with Locked Modified Assets checked (I got a clean bill of health in the Victory Settings screen).

Thanks. :goodjob: Looks like I will have quite a few things to do for the next version of the mod. :)

I hope someone out there can help me:cry:

Over the last four months I have tried to install mapfinder a dozen times, wiped my system clean of everything civ twice, searched for problem files for hours.....and it still won't work:mad:

When I click on the mapfinder icon, I get this

"HOF Paths
One or more of the HOF iniFile, Map Finder Paths was invalid
The HOF iniFile, Map Finder Paths have been set to the current Application folder"

Having just wiped everything civ off my computer and then reloaded, I'm quite sure I have set nothing.
The mapfinder instructions on line don't give me any indication of what might need to be set where?

When I run Civ4 and push Alt M, mapfinder starts up but very quickly cuts out for no discernable reason.

I am very tired of regenerating map for 2-3 hours trying to find a good start, it sucks the fun right out of playing.

If anyone has a suggestion, I would really appreciate it
Thanks

Hi beccnoa. Welcome to the Hall of Fame. :band:

I am sorry for your difficulties. The message you get is not an error. The program is just telling you the it set your Map Finder options in the HOF ini file to match where you install the utility. The fact that it dies after that is a unrealed bug. Look >>here<< for the instructions to get around it.

The bug with the utility probably has nothing to do with the Map Finder stopping to regenerate maps. When you do ALT-M, you should see the paths and rules file it is using scroll by. It then repeatedly shows the count of games regenerated\saved between pauses when it actually regenerates.

When it stops on it's own, it is usually becasue two civs are in contact. Civ4 has a bug where it doesn't clear the contacts properly during regenerations. The HOF Mod diables regeneration when that happens. You can check the log to see the message if it has scroll off. Try using settings where it isn't so likely that may start in contact.

BTW, it saves the maps into the "Saves" folder in the Civ4_Map_Finder folder. You may find you have a bunch there. ;)

I was feeling guilty enough to finally provide a somewhat better method of handling the crash caused by the NullReference Exception when trying to use the Civ4_Map_Finder app.

Civ4_Map_Finder V1.4

Release Notes:

  • Add ini file to control version of Report Grid to use. If the icon grid fails the first time it will default to the text version thereafter. Note: the "Override.txt" is no long necessary. If it is there from 1.3 verson then 1.4 with will default to text version.
  • Path check and all related options now toggle between Vanilla and Warlords HOF Mod Ini files with Civ4 Verision Menu pick.
  • Fixed Text Grid Version delete of last save error

The new version can be downloaded from >>here<<.

A question on Qscore:
  1. When looking at the Quattromaster tab under 'My Submissions' there are two positions for each setting. For instance: Map Setting (Archa, Cont, Frac, etc.). When our Quattromasters score is compiled for the subcategory Map Quest, is the average taken for the best two games of each map type? As in the best two of (archa, cont, fract, etc.) divided by 11 (or is it 22, since there are two per map)?

Originally I had just planned on making Quattromaster, but now I'd like to increase my ranking. I'd like to better understand how overall score is figured. Thanks.

Edit: I figured it out. Used a calculator and figured out that yes, the scores are compiled using the best two scores of each condition divided by the number of conditions. In other words using Map Quest as an example, the best two arch + cont + fract + etc. all divided by 11.
