HOF Mod Support/Suggestions

How do you turn off the error screens that keep showing up? I installed the 3.03 version and Hof mod, and now I am getting this error screen every turn.
It is a bug in autolog. You can disable that.

You should reset your logging as that can slow you down with some virus checkers:
; Set to 1 for no python exception popups
HidePythonExceptions = 0 1

; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 1 0

I'm getting the "assets are different from a standard install" error.

BTS 3.03
HOF Mod 3.03.001
Windows XP

It looks like your patch to 3.03 failed. The save shows 3.00. Did you patch in-game or manually? I can't remember if it was 3.02 or 3.03 but I seem to remember problems being reported with in-game patching.

The following bug just occurred: I wanted to delete a couple of rules within one group. I highlighted rule #1 and clicked on delete rule. This deleted the rule and the highlighted line now switched to the group number above that line. Since I did not notice it I clicked on delete rule again and it prompted me whether I want to delete the group, I clicked No. This lead to a situation were all of the following buttons stopped working:
Delete Group
Delete Rule
Copy Group
Copy Rule
Add Group
Add Rule
Only exiting the MF application and restarting solved that issue, and it is reproducible (I used the Standard rule set for this...).
Note: this does not happen if you manually highlight the group, click on delete rule and No :crazyeye: Edit: oops it does happen the same way, just not if you click delete group...

I seems to be a common theme with my code and people trying to delete and changing their mind. At least this is the second or third time it has come up. I think if I fix this one, I will be running out of places where you can delete stuff... :p

 We didn't take those options out of Vanilla or Warlords.

 I am somewhat confused here too. :)

Sorry for the delay in replying ... I've been having trouble getting on the internet (lovely wireless system won't work, I have to log in to my husband's PC in the cellar :) ) and I forgot I'd posted this. There is no option to check yields and my games now come up without yields showing. I've looked for it everywhere, honest guv :) I haven't installed BTS yet, just the Mods for Vanilla and Warlords. Not sure I've played Warlords since installing them - but I've played Vanilla a lot and I'm dead certain on that one.

At this point the only need for dual install would be if your are trying to finish a xOTM.

I may have missed your point. I hope my answer is close to relevant. :)

No you didn't miss my point at all. I remembered some discussion about dual installs and so I shelved my copy of BTS pro tem. Things have moved on. I'm just too dim to remember what the original issue was. Sorry :( But yarooks! I can install BTS. Thanks for the reply Denniz.

Also, just an aside and apologies if this has already been resolved, but with the specialist stacker thing I also have problems. I think there was a post a while back from a player who couldn't get specialists from the library. I had the same thing with Alexander in G Minor. Oddly, it didn't occur with other factions so far - just Alex. When I went into options and unchecked the specialist stacker (I think that's what that main section is called, can't check, I'm not on my PC <sigh> anyway, it's the main section to do with how specialists are displayed) it worked fine. Not a big deal, just thought I'd mention it. :)

Denniz, are you familiar with the "Command" pattern in software design which makes undo stuff easy to implement? Implementing that might solve problems you have with delete and change your mind situations.

Here's a link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_pattern

EDIT: This is a better link, the one above doesn't show how to implement an Undo...

I understand the theory after looking at it. I was just been ironic. I have just been a little sloppy with my testing is all. No need to go to such extremes for an "Are you sure?" type message. But, thanks. :)

I was trying to be as unpatronising as possible ;) I'm impressed with the coding abilities of a 13 year old feline anyway!

The pattern is great for multi-level undo facility but you need to really plan for that situation in advance (i.e. before starting coding ideally).

No worries, I am pretty thick skinned about this stuff. I am not that ambitious when it comes to stuff I do in my free time. After all, the time I spend on coding stuff is time away from playing Civ4. ;)

 I keep meaning to put a "my" in front of that message. I would hate to see him to get all the credit. Especially, since he only helps when it comes to adding random syntax errors. Heck, if you were to add our ages together it would come out to about 60. So, you can see I am definately the senior partner around this house. (Well, most of the time, at least. :p )

What's this "plan" thing y'all be talking about? :mischief:

Hi :)
I've have finished several games with BtS HoF 3.02.001, no problems whatsoever, everything went very smoothly.
But all of a sudden, the fun seems to be over
I tried to load a saved game and it loads for about 2/3 and then crashed with the message:
"Runtime Error, this application has requested to terminate it in an unusual way"
When I start up Civ and load the mod from within the game (not the saved game but only the mod) I get the same crash!
I've reinstalled and still the same thing.
Restarted comp a few times, same thing.
Starting up Civ4 and playing without the HoFmod is no problem!

Please help, I've put 25 hours into a game, I'd like to finish it and not only that, I wouldn't enjoy playing half as much without my favorite mod.

It sounds like a corrupted save file. Could you e-mail (hof.civfanatics@gmail.com) us the save and the last autosave (or previous save if you wiped the autosaves out)? Well take a look at it.

Edit: I re-read. You say the HOF Mod won't load? Did you install Blue Marble or some other mod lately? Another problem with 3.02.001 is that if you re-install you need to start a custom game without the HOF Mod before starting the HOF Mod.

Thank you Denniz!! may your cat live another 13 years.
Problem solved, mod loads and saved game loads. A bit strange it happened though as I didn't do anything to modify whatever.
Anyway, I'm off...to finish my game

Not sure at this point. Which version did you get it with?

Problem went away after deactivating specialist stacker, so it does look like an HOF issue. My issue was with the SGOTM5 version of the HOF mod, but it sounds like the problem has been encountered with other versions as well.

Anyone ever figure this out? Now I've run into a similar problem. It would be nice to know if it's HOF-related.
I think this is a bug in the HOF specialist stacker ... turning that off in HOF options should get you the + sign back.

If it does not, the other workaround I discovered is that if you set governor to emphasize GPpoints, the + appears, you can set scientists, then shut of the emphasize GPpoints and the scientists stay.

I initially encountered the issue with artists from theatres, so it appears to involve several specialist types.

Actaully, I took specialist stacker out of Warlords because it was acting unstable. I thought it was a warlords thing but it sounds like the vanilla version has problems too. I never put into BTS. I guess I will have to go through the code with a fine tooth comb.

I'll bet it was throwing a Python error and not completely drawing the buttons.

See posts 1283 - 1286 in this thread for more of this error. Mine was in a Vanilla game.

Mine was in Vanilla with specialist stacker too.
