HOF Mod Support/Suggestions

Thanks - that worked. I had seen that in the thread / instructions, but didn't realize that what I was getting was the NullReferenceException error.

I think I have it all set up right (mapfinder) but when I Alt-M, it starts up, regenerates 1 map and then just sits there smiling at me. All the rules, options, etc are the default.

Any ideas?

If you and an AI or two AI's are in contact then regeneration is disabled as the contact info isn't cleared properly by Civ4. Check the log. It puts up a message when it can't regenerate. Try different map settings and/or # of opponents to minimize chances of contacts.

Edit: Ok, I have it working with a different save now. However, I cannot get it to use the rules file that I created. It seems to still be using the default.rul version. I have updated the option via the option screen and it says that it is using my rules file.

Edit2: I got it accepting my rules files. It seems that I have to restart civ4 to get it to 'take' the rules files that I entered. Not a biggie - but at least it works!

So... I'm sure I'm doing something dumb, but I just can't figure out how to get the dang thing started! (MapFinder). I have the HOF Mod loaded (2.08.03 I think), and then I start up a game. Maybe I'm unclear as to when I'm supposed to hit alt-m, but nothing seems to happen.

Or maybe it's working somewhere, but it gives no indication that it's doing anything, and there are no saves showing up in the Saves folder under civ-4-mapfinder.

Any thoughts?

Did you enable it via the Game Options on the HOF3 Tab?

I just installed the mod but when I start a game it warns me that I'm using modified assets.
The problem is that I think I modified some assets a long time ago (and shame on me I didn't backed up the files) and I do not have disc 2 around (just disc 1 is needed to play anyway) so I can't reinstall civ (at least until next week)

Would it be too much/difficult to get more info on which asset(s) is(are) causing the problem? (ie: Something like Warning! 'CIV4BasicInfos.xml' modified)
Or maybe get the XML assets (The *Infos.xml not the *Schema.xml).

Thanks

BTW, I tried applying again the 1.61 patch but didn't do anything.

It is a little old but you could try downloading this utility: Civ4AssetChecker1.3.zip

Extract it from the zip file and run it. Click on "Check". When that completes click on "Save Results" and save the .csv file somewhere. E-mail it to hof@civfanatics.net

Hi All,

(Is this the proper way to suggest something be added to the mod? Seems like this thread is a bit long)

I'd like to suggest we add the following mod to the HOF mod:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=198522
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=3857
This is the place. :goodjob:

Someone asked for this before. We looked at it but it is a fairly large mod with not a lot of bang for the buck. (ie. Maintenance, mod size, and overall usefulness.) It's a great reference, but once you have played for awhile, how often are you going to use it?

Can't you print these things out? When I bought my copy of civ, I got a nice chart (though it was badly translated into Dutch) containing all promotions schemes, tech tree, terrain types, things like that.

I've got two of those things somewhere. One in French (original) and one in English (replacement). :crazyeye:

However, there is a good reference that's more handy that I use from time to time: Civ IV Reference Charts by kroym. It comes in Excel or PDF.

Can the HoF site be setup to automatically log us in? Call me lazy, but I hate having to log in every time I go to the site for the first time that day. Or when I forget and close the window and reopen it. I checked my security settings, but it doesn't appear to be anything from HoF, just civfanatics.

Suggestion for 'scores' page.
You have Rank, Player, Points, Games and Points per game - how about another column of 'Highest score' which is your highest score for a single game.

James

I just installed HOF mod V2.08.002.
I tried to start a game, but I received a "game not valid" warning, with the description of what to fix. I adjusted the settings, and tried again.
I continue to receive the "game not valid" warning, the message tells me to check the victory options, but this time there's not any error message shown.
Does anybody have any suggestion?

It sounds like something isn't displaying it's warning. Could you send us a save to hof@civfanatics.net?

[WAG]Are you playing Lakes? It defaults to Cylindrical but we need it to be flat.[/WAG]

I would suggest reviewing your settings against the rules. If it looks okay then change to a simple setup to see if you can get a clean game without messages. Upgrading to the current release probably is a good suggestion. (Thanks, azzaman333. :goodjob: )

I'm actually playing HOF V2.08.003 (not 2.08.002)!
I tried to start a very simple game, without changing any setting, and selected a shuffle world ("shuffle" shouldn't select Lakes, right?).
I'm going to send you a save, as soon as I'm back home, on Friday.
