HOF Questions and Answers Thread

Will non-gauntlet games using the 3.17 mod still be accepted through aug 25? I think the answer is yes, but I wanted to check.
Yes, but we would prefer that you use the new releases asap. I understand that somethings are in-process. That's why we allow a month.

People are still playing BoTM and the like...

Denniz,
i just submitted a settler time game, the new #1, of course.
Yesterday night i sent you an email with saves to verify, 'cause i has a crash, but seen no answer. Can you please verify if it's all right?

BTW the main target of that game was try the new Mod, which is just great. :goodjob:

Also the Global warming is just a little annoyance, provided you build recycling centers.

I'm trying to play a HoF game, and it says the game is not HoF eligible because all victory conditions must be enabled, including "Score". But I have checked all the victory conditions, including Time. I do not see a Score victory condition on the custom game settings

Do you have a screenshot of the message. Score normally means Time but you say you had that checked.

You might want to compare the other options as shown on the HOF Rules page. There could be a message mismatched somewhere.

Hi,

I have used 2.13.003 without problem. I get a HOF ineligibility warning due to "some assets modified" when I try to play warlords in 2.13.004 though. Playing BtS I have used BUFFY 3.19.001 without problem. I am wondering if I need to put the BtS .dll's in the warlords assets again (did the patch to 3.19 take care of that?).

Anyhow, I run assets checker and get 1063 errors covering Vanilla, Warlords and BtS.
Any suggestions?

(The whole list is too many characters to post here, and the save file is not a format that I can attach, either).

Try running Windows Update. Something in the recommended updates that don't automatically install (probably .NET stuff) can clean up most of those message.

There was a mixup with the checksum that was fixed several days after the initial release of the Warlords mod. If you didn't download more recently you might want to re-install the mod.

Also, check a save using the 'Start File' option on the HOF website. If nothing else works, e-mail a save to hof.civfanatics@gmail.com so I can look at it.

Thanks, I re-installed the Warlords mod and it is working now. I must have had the older verison of the new mod.:crazyeye:

Edit to add: btw, Bill Gates has cancelled permissions on the mass market version of XP that I am using, (he's afraid it has been copied so many times without him getting paid) so that using Windows Updates is not an option.

I've run into an apparent bug with the HOF-1.74.004 mod for CIV4. This is the first time using the HOF mod in any form. Everything was fine for about 100 turns and then the view of my capital city became a little screwy. The city view interface is now missing a few things. The bottom interface appears to be fine but I cannot see my great people. Also, at the top I cannot see the production/food bars and all the stuff on the left side bar. It's basically like the left/right/top aspects of the city view interface are missing and I have this very wide view of the city and it's surrounding. The city view interface is fine in all my other cities.

I submitting now to see if this is a known issue at all, but please let me know if you need additional info. I don't know, it may be some kind of setting. I'm playing a GOTM game.

I've had the same problem show up while playing GOTM 43 and 44, using HOF-1.74.003. Midway through the game, some of the city screens lose the top and side parts of the interface, and I can no longer manipulate my specialists. It wasn't a game changing problem so I just ignored it.

glad to see someone else has encountered this one. it really strange that it's only happening to one city at the moment.

you said it wasn't game changing. is there another way to manipulate specialists for a city if you can't see that part of the interface. this was my big GP producer

In both cases, it happened to my GP farm, but after the farm was already using several scientists. And in both games I was going for domination/conquest, so the GP farm wasn't crucial.

You could turn on the "Emphasize Specialists" button and maybe the "Emphasize Beakers" button if you want the city to automatically hire another scientist when its population grows.

thanks...i'll try that

I'm fairly sure I don't have any other BTS mods installed since I did a reinstall recently for 3.19 and other reason. I understand other mods are disallowed when submitting HOF games. However, is the BAT mod disallowed. I dont' think it's updated yet for 3.19, but I was interested in installing it when it is updated. thanks

BAT isn't compatible with BUFFY right now. It works with XML dynamically so would trigger changed assets issues. I believe they are going to look at that to see if it can be changed.

Okay, I'm basically bumping my post again as this issue has not been addressed at all and I find it to be a showstopper. When you can' t control your capital city it tends to be a problem. It seems that other people have this problem but I'm surprised it is not more of a hot button issue. I would appreciate your assistance or pointing me in the right direction. I'm pretty certian that the HOF mod is causing this to the vanilla game. I won't be able to play the upcoming GOTM which is disappointing.

Also, I just noticed that building Stonehenge is not putting Obelisks in all my cities. Is this a known problem?

It is not a known issue. Best idea is to do a clean re-install of the entire Civ programs and HOF mod, it might have corrupted something (or left something behind) when you re-installed for 3.19 (I'm assuming it all worked fine before that).

Failing that, can you run the Asset Checker and see if there are any errors under Vanilla.
